SETTING INFORMATION
  • Space Station Name: Rausgeber-Amsel Academy of Military Science
  • Station Model: Axios-Class Space Station
  • Classification: Military Academy, Station
  • Location: In Vicinity of Sump
  • Affiliation: The First Order
  • Population: Moderate
  • Demographics:
    • Human: ~90%
    • Other Humanoid Species: ~9%
    • Nuknog: <1%
  • Accessibility: Located a short distance away from the planet, the Rausgeber-Amsel Academy of Military Science is strictly regulated in terms of visitors and control of nearby space. Though Sump is managed by the First Order, the station is strictly under military control resulting in a "No Fly Zone" for civilian craft surrounding the station itself.
  • Traffic: Low
  • Description: The Rausgeber-Amsel Academy of Military Science is a direct result of the evolution of combat the First Order has undergone over the last decade. Specializing in joint service tactics, the Academy trains Naval and Stormtrooper Cadets for the First Order's Officer corps. Though typically utilized as an Officer Candidate School for the military branches of the Navy and Stormtrooper Corps, ongoing training symposiums can take place here for already commissioned staff. Because of its academic focus, the defensive complement it relies on planetary forces garrisoned at Sump or First Order vessels in orbit of the planet. As such, response is limited as the station itself is a distance away from Sump.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Hall of Heroes
    • A large cavernous chamber lined with engraved plates bearing the names of First Order heroes who have laid down their lives for the First Order. There is a level of reverence in this chamber and speaking is to be kept to a minimum. Listed on the small plates are the soldier's name, rank, branch and dates of service, and the First Order's sigil.
  • Administration Complex
    • Constructed at the very center of the station's main hull resides a polished alabaster pyramid. This is the Academy's administration building which is arguably the most secure building on the campus aside from the armories themselves. Here are where intake and administrative functions are housed and executed.
  • Education Campus
    • A mix of both indoor and "Outdoor" amphitheaters are designed for educational instruction as well as practical application of skills such as marksmanship, field tactics, orienteering, even such things as fieldcraft. Some are set up in a more traditional classroom manner while others are reminiscent of classical amphitheaters.
  • Habitat Ring A & B
    • The station is surrounded by two massive rings which house numerous housing modules, armories, and drop pod launch sections. These rings maintain gravity by spinning at a determined rate, also allowing for scheduled drop pod deployments to the station's artificial surface modules.
  • Artificial Surface Combat Modules
    • The station is split into 8 large spires. Each spire consists of a self contained environment which can be modified to meet various training requirements such as landscape, climate, even able to simulate weather conditions. Due to the sheer size of these modules, entire combat engagements can be practiced methods perfected, sometimes whole environments can be replicated if given enough lead time to construct them.
  • Fortan Plaza
    • In terms of hallowed ground - this is it. A wide swathe of pristine marble has been laid out as a parade deck. Upon this deck the cadets practice drill movements, ceremonies are performed, and pass and reviews are conducted. As well as a parade deck, this plaza contains various memorials and monuments dedicated to important battles in the First Order's past. Most recently, a memorial dedicated to the Chiss people and the annihilation of Csilla.
  • Vaas Museum of Military History
    • Held within the walls of this large building are a complete chronological retelling of the First Order's military containing inert weapons, hull fragments, and various other artifacts of the First Order's storied military legacy. Access to the museum is restricted to authorized visitors, students, and staff of the Rausgeber-Amsel Academy of Military Science.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Established as a premier First Order military science academy, this station serves as both an Officer Candidate School for the First Order Navy and Stormtrooper Corps as well as a continuing education center for existing commissioned officers. Though Stormtroopers are trained for planetary operations a shift in organizational philosophy sees them working closely with the First Order's Navy both in support of ground operations and in the void of space itself. By combining these two forces at the instructional level, the Rausgeber-Amsel Academy of Military Science (RAAMS) hopes to create a more dynamic Officer Corps for the First Order.

Steeped in history, RAAMS pays homage to First Order heroes past and present. Through the RAAMS Officer Candidate School, prospective officers gain the opportunity to learn and experience just where the First Order came from and develops strong roots founded in the history of their service. In addition, this station provides a unique and dynamic training environment due to the very nature of the station itself. Able to practice Drop Pod operations internally, the station provides a level of safety mitigation that cannot be replicated by physical drops onto a planet's surface. The sheer modularity of the station itself allows for a diverse training regimen and extensive practical application of military tactics.
