  • o some, it is believed that to be Mandalorian, you must be born into their ways. But the truth of the matter is that to be Mandalorian, one must earn their place regardless of birth. This is how Rath Kelborn became the man he is.

His first memories was that of iron bars and shackles around his body. He was born on the slaving world of Zygerria, born in bondage. He was only raised a few years under the care of his mother, who was a house-servant for a upper-middle class Zygerrian noble. When he was 5, he remembers being ripped from his mother and sold to a new owner.

He was trained to be his master's cupbearer and food taster. To most slaves, this would be an ideal position. But not for the boy, as he had a particularly cruel owner. One who would punish and degrade his slaves for his own amusements. Young Rath learned to be strong, as he saw weak slaves expire under this treatment.

Then came a day when he was 10 years of age. The master's cruelty finally became too much, and the boy snapped. In a fit of rage, he attacked his master, using his own whip against him. With such fury, Rath lashed his former master to death. Fate seemed to smile upon him, as a Mandalorian bounty hunter stormed into his master's place, intending to collect a bounty on the master's head. To his surprise, the Mandalorian came across a seething boy standing over the corpse of his quarry, plasma whip in hand.

Impressed with the child, the Mandalorian adopted the boy. So, Rath became a member of Clan Kelborn. He was raised in the way of the Mandalorian, looking to prove himself. He grew into a man, and served as a warrior under various Mand'alore. He watched as Ijaat Mereel caused Manda'yaim to burn. He pledged his blade to the burning wrath of Ra Vizsla and the Hell Wolf herself, Yasha Cadera. However, he soon became disgusted by the placated and lax Yasha's Empire became in the end.

When the Sith ultimately brought its hammer down upon the Mandalorians, Rath fought back with vigilance. He was one of the few to survive the Empire's onslaught. He viewed other Mandalorians with contempt for allowing themselves to succumb to arasuum, and be weak. He eventually joined up with a new, Sith-alligned version of Death Watch under Apollyon The Betrayer Apollyon The Betrayer. To symbolize his new loyalty, he salvaged some Sith lightsabers from the assault on Mandalore, and created the Bloodsaber - a red-bladed imitation of the Darksaber. He once joined Apollyon and her horde of Sith Imperial Mandalorians in their crusade against other Mandalorian faction.

Yet, when the Sith Empire began to fracture, he was branded a traitor by various Mandalorian groups. He was pursued and forced to hide near the Unknown Regions. It was there he heard rumor of a dark horde known as the Brotherhood of the Maw that some of his brethren were linking up with. He followed suit and truly felt at home with the Maw and its disciples. Much like him, they valued strength over all. Between himself and his new allies, he was able to reforge his armor of tal'beskar and procure new equipment to replace that which he had lost in his retreat. Now joined in their ranks, Rath seeks to bring the Maw's crusade to Manda'yaim, to one day let the strong rule its throne.
  • Strengths and Weaknesses
[+] In Beskar Forged: Rath was raised in the way of the Mandalorian. He is a trained fighter and warrior, as expected of their culture. He is formidable on the battlefield.

[+] Tempered by Time: As he has aged and became more experienced, Rath has learned how to strategize and use tactics. It is from this experience that allowed him to rise where he is now as a soldier of Death Watch.

[-] Thy Weakness Purged: Rath is very much a "Social Darwinist", believing weakness being culled is the natural order of things. He extends this view to who he believes should be called "Mandalorian", as only the strong should be granted membership into their ranks.

[-] A Butcher's Paradigm: Despite his experience and effectiveness on the battlefield, he retains the brutality and rage that granted him freedom in the first place. He is not above committing violent acts, and is generally considered merciless.
