I don't mind the not squares. I also don't mind that I can't actually get a clear image. Your avatar has the potential to say a lot about your character. If your character is mysterious, poised in the sense of 'waiting', with a lot of *potential* energy, rather than kinetic, it's a great avatar choice to reflect your character. The -.5 is actually because the brighter border is distracting from the rest of the feeling of the avatar.
