PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Quarterstaff
  • Size: Average (extended in weapon form)
  • Weight: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Cortosis Weave. This quarterstaff is capable of parrying lightsaber blows and absorbing blaster bolts.
  • Non-Lethal Take Down. The stun baton functionality allows the wielder an available option for non-lethal take down of an opponent.
  • Travel Sized For Your Convenience.
WEAKNESSES
  • Cortosis Weave. As this is constructed of a cortosis alloy, and not pure cortosis, it does not shut down lightsabers upon contact.
  • Specialized Training Required. More complex and versatile than a mere club, the security baton required proper martial arts training in order to be wielded effectively.
  • Simple Melee. This weapon is only effective at close arms combat. It offers no benefit at range.
  • Non-Operable When In Collapsed Form. Stun function required the staff be fully extended to become operational.
DESCRIPTION
The Ranger's Quarterstaff was an update to the Sasori Staff produced in the early 840s ABY. Constructed of a duralumin-cortosis alloy, the lightweight quarterstaff fits comfortably inside the palm of the average humanoid hand when collapsed. Extended, the quarterstaff extended to 1.5 meters in length, making it more substantial than a baton. The stun function made the quarterstaff a preferred police weapon for take down of uncooperative belligerents, finding use among Jedi Temple Guards or Antarian Rangers when engaged in capture or riot control operations.

Because the stun function was the product of an electro-neural shock, armors which were resistant to electrical energy were similarly resistant to the staff. Even assuming the stun connected with an opponent, owing to different anatomical structures and biological resistances, it was not guaranteed that the stun was going to be effective.
