- Lightsabre resistant.
- Alchemised.
- The material has been enchanted to create an aura of awe and intimidation around the wearer. This is not full-on dread and terror, but produces an effect akin to when someone feels small and vulnerable in the presence of another person. In short, the wearer comes off as intimidating, convincing and authoritative. This is a minor Force effect in the greater scheme of things, but can still be useful. The dress kind of forms a feedback loop. The more people that are around her, the more powerful its aura.
- The alchemisation process, and the incorporation of armourweave and plates of armour made the dress very resistant to lightsabres.
- The dress provides good to very good protection against against elemental hazards and blasters. Moreover, the wearer is well-protected against attempt to penetrate it with blades or projectile weapons. This also covers stabbing and slashing.
- The dress is imbued with the power of Revitalise. This is pertinent because Siobhan has a heart condition. The imbuement does not nullify this weakness, so it is still there. Instead if she begins to suffer complications she can direct her own telekinetic power to stabilise her heart, which is comparable to how Mara Jade once used the Force to purge her body of venom by forcing her afflicted blood out of the wound. Thus the dress helps keep her upright.
- Due to an imbuement comparable to Theran Listening, the garment improves the wearer's ability to understand words spoken in another language. This is helpful because Siobhan dislikes relying on protocol droids and is fond of impressing people with her linguistic skills. Moreover, Firemane often operates on frontier worlds where the natives don't speak Basic. The enchantment also allows her to listen to beings talking from a distance. This can be helpful when negotiations turn hazardous.
- The enchantment is the product of alchemy and thus will be negated by Force nullification fields such as those generated by ysalamiri.
- The same enchantment also means that the dress radiates Force energy, giving it an aura in the Force. As a result, it is difficult to hide from other Force-Users while wearing it, unless other measures are taken to conceal the wearer's Force presence.
- It is a dress. It gives Siobhan freedom of movement, but also does not grant the level of protection of a full suit of armour. The fabric is good against penetration, so it can say stop a vibroblade or a slugthrower round from going through. But it can only do so much to mitigate the trasfer of kinetic energy. Thus a high-calibre slug round that does not penetrate can still cause cracked ribs, contusions and the like by hurting the squishy body inside. Moreover, it is not meant to stand up to heavy firepower. Repeated impacts will reduce its efficacy. No real resistance against crushing damage in general. This makes it poor when the wearer suffers a heavy fall or gets hit by a war hammer.
- No helmet. This can become a problem if the wearer finds herself in combat.
- Low protection against sonic and ion/EMP. It is a dress, so it does not have any electronics, but equally it does not help electronics the wearer might be carrying. And it does not do much against sonic weapons. This can be bad for the wearer's bones, internal organs or eardrums.
The melodramatically named Raiment of the Scarlet Queen was commissioned by Siobhan as a piece of formalwear that looks regal, but is also protective. The dress was made by Varaq'Iuitl, a Xioquo seamstress and embroiderer who is also a member of Siobhan's harem. Once the garment had been made, it was alchemised by an alchemist of the Order of Fire. Made out of alchemised silk, armourweave and leather, it is meant to be worn at official functions and the like. In such a situation, heavy armour is obviously impractical, so the Raiment combines the desire to look 'queenly' with the need to have some protection. The armour materials have been incorporated into the garment directly, and both the fabric and the plates have been alchemised.
The long black dress has an armoured look about it. Aside from using armourweave and concealed strike plates, the Raiment features armoured shoulder pauldrons. She usually wears a necklace connected by two chains. Clothes are a way of making a statement and projecting authority, and Siobhan wants to project the appearance of being indomitable and untouchable. This may also be a result of the fact that she feels increasingly uncertain about herself...and surrounded by people of questionable allegiance, perhaps. In short, she is experiencing the old adage 'uneasy is the head that wears the crown'. As the saying goes, it is lonely at the top.
The Raiment is very protective against blaster weapons and lightsabres and provides a very good defence against slashing and penetration. However, since it is a dress it is less adept at countering the transfer of kinetic energy. Thus while it is likely to stop a bullet from penetrating, Siobhan can still be affected by blunt force trauma. The alchemical imbuement projects an aura of authority, but also helps Siobhan with her heart condition. It cannot negate it, but enables her to use her power to stabilise her heart when she suffers from complications. Thus it helps her stay upright in times of extreme stress.
The Raiment comes with a diadem, though Siobhan only rarely wears it. It is silver with wisps of gold. The centre of it is an abstracted lion sigil. Like the dress itself, the diadem has been alchemised. The story behind the head adornment is that upon the death of their ruler, the Qadiri of Suqua offered Siobhan the crown of their land to prevent Shahbânu Semiramis from annexing it. It was only a small fiefdom, but it flattered her ego and she took an actual interest in improving her new subjects' lives. However, when a sycophantic minion presented the diadem to her in the presence of her Firemane advisors and asked her to hold court while wearing it, Siobhan 'modestly' refused because she was not their queen. In truth, she sensed that the old guard would not be comfortable moving to a monarchial structure.
