Strength: As an independent radio station for the independent listener, the DJs are constantly changing, but the station currently employs 25 people in house, but contracts out to college students for assistance with concerts and brewery tours, among other local events.
Description: Radio Free Coruscant is your independent radio choice for the Independent listener. A former college radio station that felt it needed to deliver its message, its choice of music and its love for all things Coruscant out to the rest of the world. Centered on the Manarai Mountain District, just outside of the University of Coruscant, the station always has an ear to the ground and works to help local businesses and causes.
Employing mostly U of Cor graduates, the DJs work for a few years, learning all there is to know about the world of radio. With this experience, they are sometimes asked to stay on, but others tend to leave for larger stations to work on changing the world of radio. Opting for up-and-coming music acts, they have a free concert series to help these bands get exposure and run a few varying radio shows focused around local bands and local venues. Additonally, the Free-Team, Radio Free Coruscant’s events crew hosts a variety of events at a variety of local eateries, watering holes and parks for the public.
They advertise a variety of well vetted companies on their station and that is how they keep themselves funded. On top of that, while they are free-thinkers, they also know that life under the One Sith hasn’t really changed life that much, and rather than cause issues for their overlords, do their best to embraces the change, as Coruscant is the center of the galaxy and the melting pot of so many ideas.
When locals do die though, they do their best to help out the family, increasing announcements about the curfews and hosting benefit concerts, as is the case with Dave.
