DESCRIPTION

Designed for Helix's infantrymen, the Keelhaul is a short-bladed weapon, designed for brutal chopping motions in close-quarters combat.

The weapon features a single-edged, curve-bladed profile, and strikes with considerable power. This is partly owing to the simple shape of its design, but also to a complex density-altering capability that greatly increases cutting power, but also demands more skill from the user. It is quite resistant to wear, damage, and even lightsaber strikes, though users are advised not to let it take too many direct impacts from the latter.

In practiced hands, this weapon can be singularly deadly, but even in the hands of simple pirates it can cleave flesh, bone and armor with equal contempt.

The Keelhaul's short blade length renders it handy to use in confined spaces, but also means that its users might find themselves disadvantaged against longer weapons. In these situations, footwork is key, and it is up to the user's individual skill to close the gap.

The weapon also serves a variety of non-combat utility functions, being useful for chopping down light barricades, cutting away brush in jungle environments, or in a pinch, mincing up a field meal when nothing else is available.
