SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Overcharged Power Cells
STRENGTHS
  • Extreme Cutting Power: Unlike a traditional lightsaber the Protector's Blade relies on a molecular shield to create its incredibly sharp surface. This is enhanced by the overcharged power cells fitted into the hilt of the weapon. Armors that are resistant to a standard lightsaber, which relies on a plasma blade will find that they are less resistant to this type of weapon. In the hands of a skilled wielder it can slice through durasteel, chip impervium and even scratch beskar. Light armors like armor weave and plastoid plating essentially offer no resistance against its cutting power.
  • Lightsaber Resistant: The technology used in the creation of these weapons while considered archaic is very similar to a lightsabers. The molecular shield that creates the actual blade of the weapon is inherently resistant to a lightsabers ensuring that wielder can effectively duel against one.
  • Underwater active, cortosis resistant: Once again these weapons are not traditional lightsabers and so do not suffer the same weaknesses as them. They can remain active underwater and cortosis is ineffective against them. In fact cortosis being a usually brittle metal is easy for a Protector's Blade to cut through.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not a lightsaber: Just as this has inherent benefits it also has inherent weaknesses. A Protectors Blade cannot block/deflect blaster bolts, force lightning, etc like a lightsaber. Anyone wielding one of these weapons in an attempt to do such will inevitably find themselves riddled with shots.
  • Unstable: The Overcharged Power Cells used in these weapons are unstable. Ion Energy can cause the power cells to short which can lead to a weaker blade or outright deactivation. In extreme circumstances the weapons can detonate in the hands of their wielders.
  • Awkward: Like a lightsaber this type of weapon is almost weightless and requires specialized training. An untrained wielder risks harming themselves or their allies.
DESCRIPTION
Sovereign Protectors are tasked with guarding the elite of the First Order. This can often mean they come into conflict with all manner of foes including Jedi, Sith, Mandalorians, etc. A Protector's Blade is meant to serve as a killing weapon against those who mean to stand against the Protectors.

At first glance this weapon can be clipped to a belt where it appears as a hilt. When activated it creates a blade similar to a lightsabers which utilizes a molecular blade instead of a plasma one that creates an extremely thin and sharp cutting surface. In tests it is capable of slicing through durasteel and has the effective cutting strength to chip and scratch impervium and beskar. Lighter armors and matterials like plastoid, etc that were designed to be resistant to blaster fire and kinetic force while retaining their durability are largely ineffective against the molecular blade, it cuts through them almost as if they were non existent.

Jago Lohr initially researched the archaic technology used in Phase Knives to create the first Protector's Blade for himself introducing overcharged power cells to fashion longer and more powerful blades. Since then he has introduced several such blades to the Sovereign Protector's of the First Order. No other unit has access to them and Lohr himself often creates these weapons grants them to other Protectors.
