Special Features: The Protector-Class Jedi Lord Armor is made from lightweight Phrik, giving it high resistance to lightsaber and blaster bolt strikes. The armor is also highly customizable with slots to place personal technologies, however, the armor itself its simple and does not supply the wearer with internal sensors and gadgets.
Description:
The Protector-Class Jedi Lord Armor was contracted out to be created by Stargo Enterprises, a company known for its multi-purpose factories. When first approached with the project, the Ession dictated to the Enterprise that they wanted a durable, light and cost effective suit of armor for deployment amongst their high-ranking Jedi Lords. This task would not have been as difficult, if it were not for the request that Phrik supplied by the Reformation be used in the production process. The incorporation of Phrik raised the price of the armor drastically as the process to forge it into effective armor was time consuming and expensive. This meant that the Stargo Design teams needed to successfully create an armor for use on the battlefield, but cutting out more modern features to keep the armor cost effective.
In order to keep the sets of armor within a reasonable price range, Stargo Enterprises devised a model that lacked most of the modern-day technological features. Instead, they added in ports and removable plates to allow for the incorporation and personalization of each set of armor at the users own discretion and on his own dollar. Thus, the final product lacked sensors and climate control. The team was, however, able to incorporate a basic communications system into the helmet that can be easily controlled by a control pad on the gauntlet.
This solved only a portion of the problem the team faced. They now were faced with using the Phrik provided sparingly and in a manner that allowed for maximum cost effectiveness without sacrificing too much protective ability. This led to most of the Phrik being utilized in the front plates of the armor where attacks were most likely to come from; leaving the back of the armor weak with simple plastoid plates. The plastoid, while strong enough to withstand a bolt or two from a blaster, would be ineffective against the type of situations a Jedi Lord may face. So, to increase the protection, Stargo Enterprises added a flowing Armor Weave cape and loin cloth to the design. These incorporations, while not nearly as protective as the Phrik Plates, would be enough to add a much needed layer of defense to the back and cod pieces of the armor.
This left the Stargo Design Team with a product that was lightweight and durable, but not without its flaws. While the front is highly resistant to blaster and saber strikes, the wearer is still highly vulnerable to kinetic strikes. A powerful enough impact from a slugthrower or blunt weapon could easily break bone and possible kill the wearer. There was also the issue that the helmet and other key components of the armor, such as most of the back plates, were not made of Phrik and thus susceptible to blaster and lightsaber impacts. Overall, this armor provides a strong frontal defense for the wearer that is nigh impregnable by means of energy based weapons but is weak in the way of kinetic strikes and attacks from behind.
