ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Strengths:
- Swarm Defense - Much like its predecessor, the Protector-class has a large amount of Aurora's latest anti-starfighter and bomber weaponry to provide a wide sphere of protection for other ships
- Speedy - Due to the Siaber Crystal based generator tied into the ship, the Protector-class's engines have a greatly increased speed
- Maneuverable - Much like its predecessor, the Protector-class is rather maneuverable
- Squadron - In addition to its anti-starfighter weaponry, the Protector-class, much like the Sentinel-class it is based on, has a small hangar bay that can field a single squadron of fighter craft of its own
- No capitals please - While useful against starfighters and bombers, the Protector-class is not designed to engage capital ships, cruisers, or even heavy frigates due to its chosen weaponry
- Don't Crack the Crystals - If the Siaber Crystals are damaged, they will cause a catastrophic reaction that will, in all likelihood, destroy the ship
The next ship in Aurora Industries' modernization program, the Protector-class Frigate is designed to replace the aging Sentinel-class Patrol Frigate. Built slightly larger than the older ship, the new Protector-class has been outfitted with the latest anti-starfighter and anti-bomber weaponry developed by the company. The Protector-class also retains the small single squadron hangar bay of its predecessor, allowing the Protector-class to also perform some limited patrol duties if need be.
A Siaber crystal based generator provides the ship with all the power it needs, with special emphasis placed on providing more energy for the ship's engines, giving it enhanced speed and maneuverability.
However, much like its predecessor, the Protector-class is not designed to engage capital ships, cruisers, or even heavy frigates. If it does find itself in such a situation, a few salvos will be all it takes to destroy it. Also, as is the case with every Aurora ship equipped with Siaber crystals, if they break, the ship will suffer catastrophic damage or be outright destroyed.
