STRENGTHS

Humanity 2.0: Simulacrum all possess a phenomenal degree of strength, speed and agility. While capable of being wounded and even killed, their robust self-repair protocols affords them exceptional resilience and allows them to recover from injuries at an accelerated rate. It also allows them to be fully immune to conventional infections, diseases and toxins.
Infiltrate: While each Simulacrum has been designed for a specific infiltration in mind, they are fully programmed to adopt a variety of secondary guises and even improvise roles should the need arise. Much like a Lorrdian, they have an innate ability to read body language and mimic accordingly in order to further blend in.
Replicate: Similar to pluripleq, Simulacrum have been engineered with moderate shapeshifting capabilities, allowing them to change and assume appearances and roles as their assignment dictates. Coupled with the above mentioned infiltration programming, this can make for quite an ideal spy.

WEAKNESSES

Uncanny Valley: Simulacrums are limited to human and near-human appearances and while they can assume the appearance of more biomass and bulk, they cannot gain anymore than they already possess. It is also important to note that any physical transformations are solely limited to the Simulacrum themselves, not the clothes they are wearing or any equipment they happen to be carrying.
Healing: Cauterized wounds, such as those received from a lightsaber, heal at a much slower rate than normal. Similarly any significant loss of biomass (such as a limb) will require sufficient downtime and materials to repair.
EMP: Wihle EMP/ION based attacks are less effective on Simulacrum when compared to more conventional droid models, exposure has been shown to cause temporary interference with their cognitive functions. They may also prove to be susceptible to certain force based technological powers, such as mechu-deru.

DESCRIPTION

Utilizing bleeding edge advances in bioengineering and nanobiotechnology, the Simulacrum project was conceived by Progredior as an experimental evolution of the Human Replica Droid. In essence, creating a wholly organic droid that in many ways could be perceived as being more human than human - the perfect expression of the Institute's long term ideal of advancing sentient life to the next level. Or at least, that was the working theory during the initial design phase. In reality, the corporate powers that be inside the Institute quickly saw alternative applications for the replicants, particularly when combined with several other projects that were presently unfolding. Applications to the tune of infiltration, sabotage, assassination and good old fashioned espionage.
As such, these models are built to a much higher standard and with a greater degree of efficiency than a human, allowing the Simulacrum in effect to be both physically and mentally superior to their baseline predecessors in almost every regard. Due to the constraints frequently placed on them by their respective assignments, the full magnitude of their capabilities are rarely displayed, but initial benchmark testing by the Institute has placed them at just over three times the human peak.
Localized hives of soft nano-machines grant each model further ‘parahuman’ abilities, repairing and cleansing the host of wounds, maladies or other such impurities, in effect serving as the Simulacrum’s approximation of an immune system. These hives are also responsible for repairing the trauma placed upon the Simulacrum while it shifts its appearance - a side effect that was overlooked by the initial prototype model to disastrous, messy results.
Each model comes pre-loaded with the necessary technical and physical skills to fulfill a given assignment, with more specific expertise being acquired on an adhoc basis through further skill packages or through accelerated learning programs as needed. Several false personas are loaded on above this, layering them with the skills and false backgrounds generated by the Institute. This is all regulated by a primary ‘core’ personality that is rendered dormant during the majority of the operation and will only become available in certain predetermined scenarios. This primary personality designed to bring the fully realized potential of the model to bear in ruthless efficiency, accomplishing its objectives before reverting back to one of the cover identities, seemingly none the wiser to what just transpired.
It is rumored that due to time constraints, the project lead authorized experimental entechment procedures to quickly fashion the baseline sentience for each droid, essentially creating a pseudo-artificial intelligence in the process. More insidious still ,that somehow the infamous Zero played an inadvertent hand in the coding. Certainly each model has the uncanny ability to seem ‘real’ that some believe extends beyond what can be accomplished through simple programming. To date, no evidence has been found to corroborate either claim, however.
