ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Strengths:
  • The Anvil: Incorporating the experimental technology of the Supremacy-class, the Devastator retains an Anti-Concussion Field, and Amplified Combustion Shielding, topped off by the Bastion System, giving it incredible protection. Unlike the Supremacy, the massive reactors on the Devastator can sustain the field for long durations.
  • The Anchor: The Devastator is designed to charge deep into an enemy formation and wreak havoc on their formation and plans. It is the center for gravity for any First Order fleet
  • Hard Target: The Devastator features a number of developments that make it a very hard target to board. Besides there being over a hundred thousand personnel onboard the ship has a heavily compartmentalized maze-like interior design (with naturally occurring choke-points, defensive auto-turrets, and security stations) and all major systems are localized. One would have to reach Engineering to affect propulsion systems, for example. Tractor-Pressor Beams integrated with Bastion can help make it difficult and extremely lethal for boarding teams to arrive as well.
Weaknesses:
  • The Bigger they are...: The Devastator's greatest weakness comes from a similarly-sized vessel equipped in a traditional manner (heavy guns/armor and slow speed/ maneuverability). Simply put, the Devastator can sustain damage for a long time but lacks the output to compete in a 1-on-1 engagement versus another heavy battlecruiser or dreadnought.
  • Combustible: The Combustion Shielding is capable of being overloaded. This is much more difficult on the Devastator than it is on the smaller Supremacy, but is still possible, especially if the ship is surrounded and outnumbered.
  • Oversized Engines: The massive array of 14 oversized thrusters that give the Devastator its impressive speed are somewhat exposed and thus vulnerable to concentrated fire. Should they be critically damaged the ship would become very sluggish indeed.

DESCRIPTION
The Devastator represents the next step in military evolution for the First Order Navy. It is the largest ship made by the faction, dwarfing even the impressive Resurgent-class Battlecruiser that is by now a common site along the Outer Rim. At five kilometers in length, is straddles the line between a Battlecruiser and a Dreadnought according the old Anaxes War College system, and is the same size as the Itsukusk, the restored Supercarrier that was until recently the flagship of the Galactic Alliance.

The Devastator is a merging of design concepts from several First Order ships, and a continuation of the family that includes its old imperial predecessor, the Bellator. Built around the same concept of a high-speed Dreadnought, the Devastator is in fact better armed and more advanced, but over 2000m shorter than its ancestor, thanks to the advanced technology of the First Order. Designed to speed into and penetrate enemy formations, the ship features an astonishingly robust defensive suite, backed up the technology first featured on the Supremacy-class Star Destroyer, bolstered by a much more capable and larger G9 Primary Hypermatter Reactor.

Weapon systems are respectable but fairly un-extreme for the size, and feature a now typical line up of First Order mounts. Equally adept at long or close range, the standard offensive battery of the ship includes one or two triple Ion Cannon turrets, one or two Rapid Fire Mass Drivers, and between two and four Quad Annihilator Turbolaser cannons. Long Range weaponry is provided by an extensive suite of Hypervelocity Cannons, Plasma Railguns, and other more esoteric derivations of the classic turbolaser, all fairly common newer First Order vessels.

The most remarkable thing about the ship is certainly its speed, which is fairly impressive-for a 5km long dreadnought. Thrust power is provided for by a massive oversized set of 14 Ion Engines. While the ship is quick is not maneuverable, nor does it feature a particularly large hanger. This is all in keeping with the design, however, which is built around the speed and the absolutely incredible defensive suite.

The vessel is also equipped to function as a Fleet Command ship, as one would expect from from a First Order Dreadnought. Sensors include a number of advanced systems capable of picking up even stealth ships, they are all fairly limited in scope. Fleet Control is located in the ship's Combat Information Center (CIC) housed int he center of the vessel, well protected and shielded. The ship also features a dense network of internal defenses, after the painful lessons learned during the Hydian Blockade.

As expected all the fancy systems mean the Devastator Dreadnought is incredibly expensive, and only a handful have been produced and distributed across the fleet. But when they do show up, they are a force to be reckoned with.

Is this actually a "Dreadnought" (one obtained by a third dominion under 5.0 rules) or a very large battlecruiser?

This looks like it is two ratings too high. I see -6 ratings derived from production, maneuverability and hangar. But I see +8 ratings from defense, armament, and speed.
