SETTING INFORMATION
Structure Name: Primero del Sol // “The First of the Sun”
Classification: Luxury Resort Island
Location: Gilaria, situated somewhere in the Obariago. With the closest native civilization being the Arcendian archipelago and the Nautolan city of Namadii.
Affiliation: The First Order
Accessibility: Private; First Order citizens and limited CSG access, the locals who do have access can afford it or they work here. For now the First Order pays a hefty fee to keep their island. You arrive here by two methods, speeder or boat - you depart by boat from Namadii and by Speeder from either Alouten or Hrakert that’s it.
Security: High, given the state of war the First Order finds itself in. Security on this resort is high. It’s not unusual to see All-Surface Guard, and Stormtroopers walking around. Boats belonging to the ASG often perform patrols around the island itself. Local Gilarian Defense Forces keep the waters beneath the island secure as well.
Description: Advertised as the First Sun, this luxury resort island was built by the First Order. For the First Order, a luxury ‘exotic’ resort island made to cater to First Imperial tastes. The finest white sands, hotels built to make holocards feel a manner of shame for not being nearly as bright. Glasteel, trees and sea walls all make for an island with only one goal: relaxation.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The Playa Grand Hotel: Part of the larger Grand Hotel chain of hotels, this is the crown jewel on the Sun. The Grand Hotel on Gilaria is absolutely teeming with all things luxury, considering the forecasted profit the hotel can expect. They wasted no coin on this particular beauty. Glasteel, solar powered hotel does it best to be the luxury that many in the First Order would expect. Thread count on the bed sheets exceed a thousand, and that’s just the basic suite the premiere suites feature silk. Holosmart technology, rooms and room service means a lot to enjoy in just the hotel alone. Inside the Playa Grand Hotel are several restaurants, cafes and bars. Everything served in the Playa Grand is local, all the ingredients, the chefs and workers. And it makes for an even more memorable stay here at the Playa Grand.
Avalonian Palace: The Avalonian Palace is where many come to have fun, this casino and hotel combination serves a need that isn’t often found within the First Order. It caters to the Dosuunians, the Gaalidrani and the Coruscanti nobles. And is considered to be a more affordable option than the Grand. The Palace takes its name from the Imperial Palace the heart of the First Order government. The Palace is from the same brand of hotel that produced the Prosperian Rose. Meant to feel more like a home away from home and offers suites with built in kitchens, for a longer than usual stay here on the Sol. Restaurants, theaters and auditoriums, as well as you guessed it, bars litter the hotel just like shells on the beach. The Palace is more for your mid-class patrons who can’t quite afford the obscene luxury that is the Grand. They offer ballrooms for conferences, excellent caf and underwater tours where one might find a passing group of Herglics or maybe even a passing priest or two from the Arcendian archipelago.
Tangeru Towers: Perhaps the most affordable hotel here, the Tangeru Towers is more eccentric than the previous two choices and also offers a bit of gambling fun, family friendly shows and finger licking good food. The Tangeru Towers encourages many of the adventurous types to come and stay and book tours around Gilaria (guarded by the ASG). Room service, and customer service are among the Towers number one priorities, they offer suites with multiple rooms for large parties and families alike. While you won’t find the most luxurious sheets, you will find beds that consume your soul. You will find that the staff here are going to do their best to ensure that you enjoy both Gilaria and the beach.
The Channels: Quite simply the channels are the ultimate in safety for the island. They work to rise up and channel water out of the center most of the island. Often you’ll see the channels rise and fall, always operational as the rain season makes for a rather dour vacation. Water is routed to these channels and pushed under and out of the island, although not all of the water is pushed out. Some of it is retained to keep the ecology of the island going. In an emergency the channels will rise just below the height of the Grand Hotel to keep waves out of the island. The channels also work to pull water out of the sections, many engineers live along the channels heading out to the control stations and manual crank stations to keep watch and keep these massive walls going. There are several sections of channels throughout the island working to make sure, everyone here stays safe.
The Sands of the Sol: All throughout the island you’ll find these buildings, and they are condominiums. For those who wish to have a more permanent stay on the island. Each of these complexes are built on top of various businesses, arcades, storefronts, cafes, restaurants, and even hydroponic markets. For the budget conscious there are the ‘time shares’ where you can rent the condos for a time and share it with someone else who can come during another time. The idea was provide a place for those in the First Order who want take time away from the everyday drag of work, the war, and life in general.
The Obariago: The largest body of water on Gilaria, it covers most of the planet and is life. It provides work, homes, food, everything here on Gilaria can draw its origins back to the Obariago. Its purity is the biggest concern of the planet nation and thus the First Imperial Environmental Services has now parked itself here on the island. Working with local environmental scientists and engineers to ensure that the First Order stays on the right side of the Gilarian’s happy meter.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The First Order moved quickly upon discovery of Gilaria. FOCIE and Architects from firms all over the nation came together to create and engineer and island that could serve their purposes. Of course this wasn’t free, the Confederacy of Gilaria charged and continue to charge a fee for using their oceans and wrote in that the First Order would use their citizens as workers. Even now as the Imperial nation works to incorporate Gilaria into their expansive territories, the resort island stands out.
Built in the shape of the First Order emblem, the engineers then began to pour in the sand. Sand, dirt, trees, grass were imported from all over the nation to build, what was called. “Primero del Sol,” the First of the Sun - as it was indeed the first of its kind, and who doesn’t like some sun on the beach. The island had to take into account the natural flow of the planet’s oceans, scientists worked closely with the engineers to avoid any unnecessary damage to the ecosystem. Of course you wonder, how do you avoid this while sticking a man-made island in the middle of an ocean. The answer is very carefully, even now the First Order is very aware that life around the Obariago was important to the Gilarians. Herglics who occupy the oceanscrapers, and the native Gilarians (Golarans) who live far beneath the beautiful blue surface of the ocean.
Gilarian Defense Force and All-Surface Guard work together to ensure that any fishing and seafaring activities are cleared with the local government. The resort was built with layers and layers of seawall. Each wall able to expand higher than the last, like a flower that closes up so do the seawalls close up to help keep the higher waves away from the vacationers. So far this hasn’t been an issue, still though the First Order keeps their eye on the waves.
