Additional Advanced Features of the Invictus-class Battlecruiser:
- Dual-Emitter Composite Beam Laser: Designed as a frontline flagship who's primary purpose is to engage enemy supercapital ships, the Invictus-class is outfitted with an axial composite beam laser comprised of two emitters that produce a pair of orange beams which connect to merge into one
- Advanced Battle Management System: Intended to function as the flagship of an Admiral in command of a large fleet, the Invictus features an advanced battle management system which conglomerates and processes battlespace information from the ships in the fleet and displays it on a three-dimensional holographic projection on the bridge, allowing the Admiral improved situational awareness during combat
- Advanced Shielding: Due in part to his experience in modulating the shielding of other ships Thrael has taken this knowledge and applied it in modulating the shielding of the Invictus to bring it's defensive capabilities well above their standard measure. This is due to a combination of high grade shields and metals used in tandem for the ships protection against all forms of attack.
- Phase Shifting Hyperdrive: Unlike other ships of it's size and design it sports a hyperdrive that allows it to drop to realspace speeds while inside of hyperspace. This can effectively allow it to prepare for combat in the system it is approaching before it exits hyperspace. It also allows for the ship to compensate for any possible anomalies without, potentially, having to reach alert status.
- Stygium Cloaking: While it's size prevents this measure from being as effective as it would on a ship of a much smaller size, the ship has been fitted with a wide array of stygium crystals. This allows for the ship, along with it's various internal anti-detection components, to go almost completely hidden unless special, and uncommon, measures are taken.
- Isotope-5 Nano-Reactor: Implementing this experimental reactor grants the Predator Chimaera an almost limitless supply of energy with which to power it's shields and weapons. In addtion to this, very minimal crew is required to monitor the reactor even while it is on an independent network from the rest of the ship; Effectively preventing it from being sliced if the ship comes under external cyber attack.
- Power Draw: While the Predator Chimaera sports a vast amount of energy production due to it's experimental core, there is a limit to how much strain the reactor can take without suffering a catastrophic failure. Due to this the ship can only supply so much energy to a variety of systems at once; Ideally this would mean that a range of weapons and shielding could be used but that the preferred action would be to use only the proper shields with the proper accompanying weapons while still powering the remainder of the ships basic systems.
- Phase Shifting: While a minor draw back of the Predator Chimaera, it is still something to be noted that it cannot fire its weapons while dropping to normal space speeds during hyperspace travel. It's weapons can be prepared but they cannot be fired lest a much more dangerous outcome be risked.
- Unstable Reactor: Isotope-5 is a highly experimental substance that, while effectively limitless, holds its own dangers in its utilization. That said the reactor must be maintained at all times by either it's nanomachines or the dedicated crew of scientists that are assigned to it on a rotating shift clock. Should the reactor be left unattended or damaged in a catastrophic manner that the nanomachines cannot repair the entire ship will be destroyed in the event of an explosion.
- Low Support: Without the accompaniment of a carrier or other craft dedicated to a much larger hangar size the Predator Chimaera possesses minimal ability to defend itself with fighters alone. While the previous ship under Thrael's command sported an automated solution to this that solution was disolved and exchanged for actual man power that often comes at the risk of losing men and shorthandedness.
He had seen the ship in action during his brief time with the Confederacy. He'd even investigated it's efficiency during his time with the Republic Remnant and during his wanderings of the Unknown Regions. However, it wasn't unti his arrival on Kallidan that the Chiss Admiral Mitth'rae'leios fully came to grasp the spectrum of utility in the form of the Invictus-class. Quickly rising through the ranks by show of action and skill directly to the Emperor himself, the Chiss saw fit to make use of such a ship in a way only he knew how: By fitting it in a manner that befit the namesake of his previous ship and meeting up to a modern standard for a ship he long admired. The flag ship of Admiral Thrawn: The Chimaera.
While the task was not easy, and the process of modulation and modification adruous, his time with the minds within the Eternal Empire and Karavin Concern proved fruitful. Implementing his own design for a specialized reactor, and a variety of newly fitted weapons, Thrael put to work upon a project that would make light of any he'd done before. Considering the offensive and defensive capabilities of the Chimaera and the effectiveness of stygium cloaking, he sought to combine the two in a fashion befitting a well hidden weapon of pseudo-guerilla warfare. If the rebels and turncoats of the galaxy wished to fight dirty in their tactics, he would meet them head on with just as much ingenuity.
The finished product however, would prove to be far more than he had expected. Dangerous in almost every aspect of it's existence; from it's advanced weaponry and shielding to it's unstable and virtually limitless reactor. Dubbing it the 'Predator Chimaera' the Chiss set forth to use this ship as his means of imposing the fear he believed so effective upon those who would face him in future battles.
