Private Predation of the Mind

The world of Obroa-Skai was located within the confines of the Silver Jedi Concord. Accessing it, as a Sith, was extremely difficult, but since he wasn't known to the wider galaxy, and was capable of utilizing the Force to alter his appearance, it was possible. He had lucked out that the planet wasn't crawling with Jedi when he came, as well. Had it been, he probably would have turned around immediately. He didn't come there looking for trouble, just for information. Fortunately for him, the keepers of the repository didn't discriminate on who could access their archives.

He was lead down the halls towards an access terminal, which he was left alone to utilize. For his part, Vastitas did not care for wanton destruction and doing things just to cause harm to people. Those around him didn't need to worry. His only interest was in all of the information within the databanks of the library. Specifically he wanted to look into the past exploits of the Sith and get a bearing on where to go and what to look into in order to strengthen himself even further. He couldn't learn any more from the sources of knowledge he had. Spending years locked in a room with no exit had lead him to memorize texts. He didn't even need access to those information sources anymore.

Now, since he was concealing his form with illusion, he wasn't able to fully conceal his signature in the Force. It wasn't easy to use the Force and hide it at the same time. So as he was aware there were a couple of Jedi in the immediate vicinity, he was aware that they would likely discover him and approach. Depending on their nature, they might accost him. But he ignored that because he didn't care if they did. There was more to life than fretting over some insignificant whelp trying to make a name for themselves in attacking him.

So he continued to search through the files for any information on Sith that didn't make a habit of living on the typical Sith worlds. Those obscure individuals were where he would find the unique skills he sought.

"Right this way, Master Noble," one of the librarians told the Keshian woman while she gestured for Valery to follow her. A long time ago, in the days of the Old Republic, Valery visited the planet last for access to its libraries. Now, she returned to look into some of the history she missed during her time in stasis. Other archives had files about it as well, but few as detailed as those on Obroa-Skai, and she was looking for those finer details to piece together more about the Sith and other active, dangerous groups within the Galaxy.

Because as much as she wanted to focus purely on the war with the Brotherhood of the Maw, she could feel darkness stirring elsewhere in the Force as well. Visions and nightmares of new threats rising plagued her every other day, and she couldn't help but worry that the Jedi were potentially overlooking other problems.

That's why she returned.

"If you need anything, let us know and we'd be happy to assist."

Valery nodded and offered the woman a smile, "Thank you, I'll let you know." With that, she stepped away and walked through the long hallways of the archives. Not afraid to show who she was, Valery had her typical attire on, her lightsabers displayed on her belt but only hidden beneath a simple set of robes she had wrapped around herself.

But as she began to move deeper into the building, she felt something strange. A shiver went down her spine and the longer she focused on her this pulse in the Force, the more she began to worry that someone was here who shouldn't be.
"Hmm..." she hummed before she decided to follow her senses in the direction of the source.

They were coming.

A single individual, strong in the Force, approached. He hadn't truly expected to get away with his invasion of Jedi space for long. They were too prevalent throughout for him to be able to escape them. And a repository of information such as that of Obroa-Skai was just too strong a draw for anyone with a scholarly appetite to avoid, as he knew many Jedi had, while so few Sith seemed to. Small wonder why no Sith order, empire, or other had ever been able to dominate the galaxy for more than a few years at a time since the days of the Empire.

Still, he had hoped that he would have a little bit more time to peruse the database before being accosted. There was a lot of information there, and not enough time to get through it all. He had no doubt he would not be allowed to continue once the Jedi arrived.

Since he knew he was already found out, he released the illusion that hid his appearance. It revealed him in full, dressed in black and silver, and carrying a saber on his hip. But he did not move away from the console where he was reading. He would not flee in the face of anyone, especially not a Jedi, and not without the information he was looking for. To give the Jedi some pause, he stopped hiding what he was of his signature, releasing it in full, which freed up his concentration just as the woman approached.

"Hello, Master Jedi," he said without turning to look at her. "Is it a crime to search for information in this space while doing no harm? Or will you allow me to continue unabated?"

With his illusions fading and his presence no longer being as buried, Valery had absolutely no trouble sensing him, and where he was. The Dark tremors that shifted through the Force suggested he was either Sith or a Dark Jedi who had infiltrated these libraries. Either way, he was trained and not some Jedi who had only just fallen down a darker path.

Which meant it was likely a good thing that Valery was the Jedi who found out about his presence here.

To make sure he knew she was coming as well, Valery no longer kept her own presence suppressed either, and followed the path directly to him. She wasn't sprinting or rushing to get to him, but it wouldn't take long until she stepped into the room. On entry, the Sith still had his back turned to her, which she used as an opportunity to drop the robes that were wrapped around her, leaving her in her usual attire. Her fiery eyes settled on his form and as he began to speak, Valery took a final step into the room.

"Cut the act of innocence," Valery replied while she studied him.

Right now, there was no immediate aggressive intent she could feel, so her hands stayed clear from her weapons. She just watched him carefully and kept herself calm and confident,
"You may not have harmed someone, but what you intend to do with the information you seek is not to the benefit of anybody but yourself."

"Disarm yourself and surrender, so I can bring you with me under arrest. It's the only warning you'll get."

"So you assume," he replied, still not looking at her.

It was an odd accusation anyway. Most people sought knowledge for the betterment of themselves, Jedi included. To assume he intended to only use it for himself was hypocritical. On top of that, she didn't know what he was looking up or why, which meant she was assuming that, since he was a darksider, his intentions meant harm to someone else. In reality, he didn't care about anyone else and saw no reason to harm people unnecessarily. It was a waste of time and energy and didn't do anything to further his goals.

Naturally she wanted him to disarm himself and surrender, nut he had no intention of doing so. She was overreaching her authority, attempting to arrest someone who had done nothing to warrant it outside of existing. He found that curious, her being so willing to judge merely because he was a darksider.

"You're going to arrest me for existing, Master Jedi?" he inquired, still not turning to face her, eyes focused on the display nefore him. "That does not seem appropriate, does it?"

It wasn't as though he had encountered a lot of Jedi in his lifetime. In fact, this was the first. Still, he knew enough to know that his mere existence wasn't enough to warrant being threatened or arrested. He had committed no crime, he was just perusing the historical records that the library had to offer. But if she wanted to continue to threaten him, and perhaps even take physical action against him, he would not stop her from doing so. Part of him would relish cutting down a pompous Jedi that couldn't leave well enough alone.

"You're a Sith. You may want to make yourself look like a victim, but everything they stand for oppresses people in the end. You have no business being in this library," she said as she continued to look at him, her body language and her voice calm. Most Sith she encountered were quick to lash out or make their threats, but occasionally Sith played victim despite their entire history revolving around the oppression of other species and planets. In most cases, it wasn't about unnecessary harm to others either, but simply a path to power that required others to be forcefully placed beneath them.

"There's nothing further to discuss."

She then took a step closer and held up her hand while she channeled the Force. It was an attempt to summon the Sith's weapon to her hand, which she expected him to resist. But if he didn't, she'd disarm him and all of this was going to become a lot easier.

"You're coming with me, one way or another."

"Again you make assumptions. Are there not other people who utilize the darkside than Sith?" he asked, still without turning around.

She was persistent, which would be her downfall. This nature among some people to press their luck against stronger forces because they believed they were stronger was what tended to result in people getting killed for no reason. He had no intention of coming there to fight, but if he was forced to do so, he would make it the end of the one he fought. He did nothing with half measures, and he wouldn't spare anyone. People who started problems didn't really deserve the right to live.

And then she was trying to pull his lightsaber away from him. His hand reached out and grabbed it before it could get far, grip strengthened with the Force to keep her from stealing his property.

"Is it legal on this world for people to steal the properties of others?"

He turned around now, letting his orange eyes fall upon the woman who was accosting him. If he had a frame of reference he might have found her attractive, but truthfully he didn't have such, and he wasn't interested anyway. Women were the ones that had locked him away for most of his life, so he didn't really have an incentive to have anything to do with them. Except perhaps in the killing of them, but even that had always seemed like a waste to him. The unnecessary killing was such a bothersome thing. Stupid waste of time and energy.

"I have no desire to go anywhere with a member of an order historically responsible for exterminating an entire race, causing the destruction of various galactic governments due to incompetence, and lying to the galaxy about their goals and how they achieve them. So the choice you make now is whether to attack me or leave, because I will not be attacking you. I have better things to do."
