Ellie slipped over the arm of the couch and into a casual sit, picking up the device. "No, it's cool." She promised with a grin. "I can handle negotiations pretty okay. Just because I'm young does't make me an easy mark!" Turning the testing device over in her hands, Elanor gave it a pretty comprehensive examination just to sate her curiosity before withdrawing a strip from the side for her own use. "Once I started showing him galactically trending costs for identical work on my model cross-referenced with parts and labor quotes from nearby Silk dealerships, he pretty much gave up on trying to haggle." If there was one thing to be said for Ellie, it was that she wasn't afraid to do her homework. If there was a second, it was that she very rarely gave anything less than all of her attention.

She pricked her finger and let a couple drops of red stain the testing strip, sliding it into a notch as Tobias had done. "Oh! My mom says 'hi'. She wants me to bring you 'round for Independence Week, to see the fireworks." Elanor explained as she set the test down so it could do it's work. "You don't have to come if you don't want, but she always makes so much food that the leftovers stink up the fridge for weeks afterwards." Ellie laughed. "It's like she was always cooking for the son she never got, I guess!" After a minute, the testing device beeped and reported it's findings on a digital display, beside a green light. They had a high percentage of matching DNA - slightly more than was usual for siblings, in fact, but within the typical margin for error. As they certainly weren't twins, it likely meant (to Ellie's understanding) that they simply had inherited similar genetic structure. "See? Technology reveals what the heart knew hours ago, Toby!" Ellie chirped, leaning forward with a bright grin. "We're siblings - you, sir, are stuck with me, now."

Slightly blown away, and really impressed, he slow clapped when she explained what she did to the mechanic. “Do you know how many times I myself was ripped off by those guys when I first started smuggling while working for Silk Industries? It was criminal what they were doing to those of us who made our living transporting things legally, and illegally.” Instead of rambling on, he simply dropped the subject. Elanor didn’t really know much about him, and he preferred to keep it that way. Did he mind her knowing how hard his upbringing was, and that he served in a military before finding odd jobs during the interim? No, he didn’t mind that, and he was proud that she had found him at the right time in his life. It was much easier to explain to a young girl that looked up to you for no reason that you were training to be a Jedi just like your father.

Telling her that you smuggled drugs, or used to kill people wasn’t so easy.

“It looks like we are brother and sister, Ellie.” Her use of Toby didn’t bother him, in fact he smiled a little more deeply while he leaned forward on the table. A long yawn escaped his lips as he rubbed the short hair on top of his head. Idly scratching the blond stubble on his face, he leaned back and slumped in his seat. “I’d be more than happy to come meet your family,” it was the truth. “I’m not sure I’d know what to do around one, but I’d give it a shot. Anything for family, you’re literally all that I have in this galaxy.” That tired smile showed itself, and he almost reached for the hologram projector that was sitting on the table.

“Now, the question is what do we do with all of this? I’m just the guy learning to be a Jedi. You’re the smarts in this duo, sis.”

Ellie sat back and laughed. "Oh, you don't have to do anything!" She promised cheerfully. "Just show up, endure mom's jokes, eat as much as you can, and watch some awesome fireworks! Easy. Family doesn't mean having to do things, it means wanting to do stuff." the Blonde picked up the testing device, turning it over in her hands to keep them busy. She liked having something to fiddle with. "Besides. My parents live right on the river - half the fun of going there is swimming and fishing as much as you want. I'll teach you how, don't worry." She promised eagerly.

Ellie sat the device back down and folded one leg over the other, stretching her arms across the back of the couch - taking up a tremendous amount of space for such a waif of a young woman. "As for my research? I guess I look for leads." She admitted, scratching her nose. "I think I'm about at the end of what digging through records and archives can produce, but I've got a couple friends at the Levantine Academy who say they've heard the name Shule before - maybe they'll turn something up." Elanor explained with a hopeful smile. "Just give me a couple of days - I'll find somebody or something. And now that we can share resources, maybe you'll have luck with the Jedi Archives I'm not allowed into."
