Question Posting and NPC Etiquette

I am perusing the RP and have noticed that the writing style tends to (very generally) favor internal narratives over exposition. If I wanted to do some character development posts that do not involve another PC, would it be acceptable for me to RP actions of an NPC with my PC. For example, to totally make up a scene, PC goes into a cantina on Moss Eisley to hire passage offworld. I have an NPC interact with my PC saying he and his friend do not like me, PC responds he will be careful and NPC responds that he will be dead so PC chops his arm off with a Beskad (see, I'm not plagiarizing). OR is that kind of assumption and storytelling practice frowned upon.

Thanks in advance.

PATRIMONIUM
I write NPCs all the time. Some of my posts are more NPC characters than my actual PC. Go forth and write my friend :)

I do find that NPCs are usually best for set up, or finalising threads though. Too many in each post leaves a lot for the other writer to interact with.
