Game Post your character inspirations (Take 2)

As the last version of this seems to have been hit with the old 'my image hosting site got nuked', let's try this again.

Jonyna's inspirations are pretty varied.

There's her initial personality inspirations:

Both fiery redheads who love life, parties, and have a bit of a flirtatious side to them.

But as she's also got these two in her head:

bfstStU.jpeg

Both staunch believers in standing up for what's right, but also incredibly frustrated with how those they put faith in often fail to live up to it. Both a bit egotistical about their own morality, but both willing to stand up and do what needs to be done, no matter the odds.

Then there's her fighting style:

Hyper-aggressive, floaty as all hell, reliant on adapting and shifting position and weapons on a whim, while relying on the Force/Elements to aid her in combos. (I build characters like Fighting Game characters.)

What are your character inspirations?

Oh, this sounds lit. Also, love that you got the GOAT Spider-Man as one of your inspos.

Visually, these are Ace's inspirations:

I'm a sucker for characters with white hair and I love Future Trunks' drip.

In terms of character and story beats:

The wanderer/survivor aspect of Ace's character takes inspiration from Cal Kestis, while Ace's quest to learn more about his parents and the Force is heavily inspired by Luke Skywalker's arc between Episode IV and V specifically. Like Connor, Acier is quite stoic and guarded on the surface but buried down he is highly compassionate, empathetic and deeply sensitive.

Without spoiling my plans for Acier's future, I'll just say certain points in his storyline will take influence from Connor and Paul Atreides. Finally, in terms of his development in skill and abilities - I took inspo from traditional Shonen protagonists (Just used Naruto because he's my favourite anime character lol).

I don't have any inspiration for Acier's fighting style yet because, well, he can't really fight on the level of certain characters on this site yet lol.

Ysennia's muse is Anders from Halo Wars. Specifically her portrayal in the second game who is voiced and modeled by Faye Kingsley

Ysennia takes some influence from her characterization from Damon Baird in Gears of War
cog_damonbaird_universe_540x540-3ae9a8e05c7a42a6b281912d9e898d7b_large.jpg

Similar to Baird, Ysennia was born into a military family but she wanted to pursue a civilian career as an engineer because of her natural inclination to droids. But she was threatened be cut from her inheritance if she didn't join the military. The difference is that unlike Baird, Ysennia hasn't been demoted from her position as an officer after disobeying orders, nor does she have Baird's trademark bitterness and sarcasm in the franchise. I do want to give her the latter as her story progresses

She also has a little bit of Hange from attack on titan. While definitely not as eccentric and definitely not manipulative, Ysennia does have Hange's empathy for her subordinates and is on an informal basis with her officers. She also has a leadership quality which she leans into naturally when situations call for it as she develops a personal responsibility to protect the Alliance

Mr. Usher is literally Alex Mercer

Then ripped off of an Old Scratch type character from a concept album for initial personality.

There was also a book I read when I was a pre-teen which I barely remember, Treason by Orsom Scott Card. I was definitely too young to be responsibly reading it and too young to understand some of the problematic stuff in there. In which the protagonist was a Radical Regenerative, i.e. they had regenerative healing but their body didn't know when to stop if it wasn't managed.

There was a depictions of him being captured and enslaved on a ship without the slavers knowing what he was, and in the weeks he was locked in the dark he grew multiple arms, legs, and a sheer amount of limbs that tore apart the slavers when they finally opened the door – not particularly strong limbs individually, but a one-character angry mob. That stuck with me, and among other things in the book is an ongoing inspiration for the biological adaptability of Mr. Usher.

Also, the videogame Carrion.

But over time, he's changing into something of a Paarthunax character.

He's been a lot of fun to write

I've honestly barely written this character, but I can point to at least one major inspiration for her: Delenn from Babylon 5. It's been many years since I watched the show and I don't remember a whole lot about it, but I liked how alien Delenn was, as well as the asceticism of her species' culture.

Other than that, I liked the idea of a Jedi Master similar to Tionne Solusar, who was the NJO librarian in Legends. In a galaxy full of Chosen Ones with incredible power and potential, she was not at all prodigious in terms of strength and skill with the Force. But she studied hard and eventually achieved the rank of Master through hard work and determination.

For Dreidi's looks:

Taylor Momsen from The Pretty Reckless

Bonus: One of the reasons I also had Dreidi become a singer and play guitar as well.

I think Morrigan from Dragon Age had probably some influence on her being a witch, as well as a reason for her dry humour

But I think that's it really in terms of outside influences.

I'm sure everyone that followed along with Ukatis' Summer Rain Rebellion took one look at this cute li'l newt and thought "that's a Smaug". I was certainly watching the Hobbit when I got the idea to write Cin here, but he isn't my main inspiration. Nah, I've got schemes.

Okay wait this sounds super fun. I'm gonna do this for all three of my characters but I'll start with good old Vyn here.

His personality is a bit of a combination of a few people. Mainly his personality from the one, the only Sandor Clegane His disdain for idealism and pretense, but both act with a kind of rough integrity, but neihter veiw themselves as "good", they both fight full tilt. Then mixed with the famously popular Logan, Vyn's augmentations are mirror for adamantium and they both carry a moral wound, not because they're killers, but because they've made peace with it. Finally The person who initially inspired him Roy Batty (Blade Runner)

Then his fighting style which is pulled from mainly one person, and one of the goats. Thorfinn karlsefni, with a mix of the Titanfall Pilots to add flair

Okay my OG Kain this one is super simple. He mainly takes influence from John Crichton (Farscape) his Humor as a shield, and personality as a pilot before soldier this was his original influence. Then Star Lord, backing that space rouge/galactic fool, yet surprisingly deep. And lastly Mal from firefly for his tired of institution vibe. (out of fear of committing a sin I'm excluding Jim Kirk, but yes Kirk too.)

I kind of style how he fights a bit different, While he's okay with a saber, his abilities in the force out pace his saber combat, and the poor guy cant use a blaster to save his life. He's a bruiser, but he's smart about it and he uses the force as his driving combat mechanism. Explosive and reactive. He's also not afraid to slip into emotion to fight. With all that, his combat inspiration is Zuko

I was waiting for this one. Wrathian is new, I had wanted to make a pureblood for a while. Yet I always wanted him to be different from the sith, it just took me a while to figure out how to do that, I was scratching my brain trying to figure it out. Then it clicked. Wrathians Personality takes heavily from one person, Alucard. He's a reformist, burdened by not only lineage, but beliefs, 'not all Sith are monsters' This leans into the fact that he's Sith not just in name but species, it's something he cant escape. Much Like Alucards vampirism. To add on with Ardyn Izunia from ff15

Since his fighting style is also very close to Alucard's in methodology I'm not going to add another picture.
