Pope Laporte grew up on the planet of Mirial, born to two well off natives who specialized in galactic relations. His parents afforded him the finest education that Mirial had to offer along with providing countless mentors to guide him on his path within the force. Religion wasn't a major pillar within the Laporte family as he found his parents were often found working. Although not a major component, the Laporte's welcomed the Crusade with open arms as it gained prominence in the Outer Rim and Tingel Arm.
Pope was indoctrinated into the Crusade as the Sith Empire lost their grip in the area. It was after following his father on a diplomatic trip to Ession, eyes were opened for the young Mirialan as he encountered religious leaders preaching throughout the city. Pope found himself gravitating towards the teachings of the Ashla day after day following his departure from Ession.
Years went by as Pope dedicated more and more of his time towards the Crusade, some would consider him more of a zealot as it bordered on an obsession. He took these teachings to heart and put forth all of Ashlan's morals and values at the forefront of his life, he shed his surname along with most of his possessions. With his background within the force and his formal education including combat and strategy, Pope moved towards a career within the Crusade. Most would have foreseen a path within the Knightly Orders of Ashla, but Pope had other ideas. It was the Holy Jury of Ashla that truly called toward the Mirialan. It was there that Pope found his true calling within the Crusade, hoping to further the Followers of the Ashla as it spreads throughout the galaxy.
