Kitty Kat

Guest
I've decided to reboot this character. She's constantly living in the past and it's getting difficult to move forward. I'm going to delete her posts and rebrand her as a new young Jedi. Thank you so much for being supportive <3

The quiet knock echoed just as Valery was finishing a datapad report, the soft tap against the chamber door drawing her gaze up — though she had felt the presence long before the sound. Familiar. Steady beneath the turbulence. A friend.

Her expression softened, the wear of the day easing from her features as she rose to her feet. With a simple button press, the door slid open with a gentle hiss.

"Kat," Valery said with quiet warmth, her amber eyes locking onto the figure in the doorway. There was no formality in her tone — not between them. But as her gaze settled on her old friend, Valery could feel it — the weight pressing just beneath the surface. A choice not yet spoken aloud, but heavy all the same. Her presence in the Force wasn't frayed… but it wasn't still, either.

She stepped aside and motioned inward. "Come in," she said, voice calm and certain. "Close the door behind you."

Valery turned, walking back toward the center of the room, her tone shifting just slightly — from welcome to insight, without ever losing that quiet empathy. "You're carrying something heavy on your mind." She glanced back over her shoulder, a faint smile touching her lips.

She gestured to the chairs near her desk — not the formal ones, but the softer seats by the window, where sunlight spilled across stone and the hum of the Temple felt a little less official.

"Sit with me. Tell me what's on your mind."

Valery watched Katarine as she spoke, her expression calm but attentive — not just listening to the words, but feeling the weight behind them. The way her friend sat, the way the words came quicker than usual, the way her eyes flicked to the window instead of holding her gaze too long — all of it spoke volumes. When Katarine finished, Valery leaned forward slightly, her elbows resting on her knees, hands clasped loosely.

"It doesn't sound like you want to leave," she said gently. No judgment. Just observation. Her amber eyes studied Katarine, quiet and steady. "You said you've found your footing here. That you feel like you belong. And I believe that — I see it."

She paused, letting the words settle in the space between them before continuing.

"So why are you conflicted?"

Valery's tone was soft, but not without purpose. Not pushing — inviting. Encouraging.

"You've never needed to be on the front lines to matter here, Kat. The war isn't the only battlefield. And Jedi aren't defined by the saber in their hand — they're defined by how they serve. If addressing crime is where your heart leads you, there's room for that. We work with law enforcement all the time. We support the Alliance in more ways than one."

A faint smile touched her lips again.

"You don't have to leave the Jedi to help people in that way. You don't have to walk away from the Order to walk toward something else. You're not in the old Temple anymore, bound by those old rules. You're here. And that means you can choose what kind of Jedi you want to be." Valery tilted her head slightly, her voice dipping lower.

"But something tells me this isn't just about a job, is it?" She didn't press. Not yet. Just let the question hang in the air, open and safe.

Valery didn't speak right away.

She let the silence stretch for a moment — not out of uncertainty, but to give Katarine space. The kind of space people rarely had when they were carrying something heavy and fragile in their chest. Her expression remained soft, steady, and her hands unfolded slowly, one palm resting against her knee as she leaned in just a little closer.

"You love him," she echoed gently. "And you're afraid that you'll lose him." Not a question. Not quite a statement either. Just a truth pulled into the open, given voice so that it wouldn't have to stay buried under weight and fear. Valery sat back slightly again, the faintest crease between her brows as she let her eyes drop for a second — thoughtful — before lifting again to meet Katarine's. Her voice, when it came next, was lower. Warmer.

"I know that fear," she said. "Losing someone you love... it doesn't just hurt. It changes you. You start thinking you're safer alone. That feeling something too deeply is a weakness. That it's better to never reach for anything than to risk watching it fall away." A beat. "I told myself the same thing. For years."

Her smile returned, faint but real.

"And then I met someone who made me want to try."

Valery didn't say Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble 's name — she didn't have to. It was in the soft edge of her smile, the strength behind her words. The proof that you could risk it all and still find your way back to the light.

"You're not unworthy, Kat. You're human. You made it through hell and you're still here, still fighting to do what's right. That doesn't make you weak — it makes you strong. It makes you a Jedi." She paused again, eyes never leaving her friend's face.

"You don't have to choose between being a Jedi and loving someone. You just have to be honest about why you're afraid — and whether that fear is what's really guiding your choices." Another breath. Steady. Intentional. "So let me ask you, not as Grandmaster... but as your friend."

A faint tilt of her head, a glint of warmth in her voice.

"What do you want, Kat?"
