Please advise the Tef -- Thoughts on removal of secondary approvals?

I'm not in the factory, but since one would imagine this would be transferred to the Codex too...I have a stake.

I absolutely disagree with this on every level. No, not because I have a power complex and need to stamp everything myself, but because it provides a second level of verification on a staff level.

We let factions nominate masters, but the RPJs still check them and approve it. 95% of the time I double stamp things, but occasionally I see something I want clarification on, or which might have been missed.

A double stamp also takes the final responsibility from the judges and puts it on staff, which I feel is actually good here. The judges are not staff, so if an admin stamps the sub they are officially verifying it for the whole board.

From a technical perspective too it would force an increase in the powers of the judges by allowing them further security permissions, and I don't think it markedly would speed up things. The factory and codex are optional, so if you submit something there, do it with the understanding it won't be instantly handled and move on accordingly.

Totally disagree with this proposal.

Why not removal the secondary approval from a staff member?

Instead allow a second judge to take a look. Would aid in consistency as different judges would become familiar with how each other worked.

Alternatively just make secondary approval optional, if a Judge would like another to pass a second pair of eyes over it.

I think we should keep things as is. Giving the option to another judge to look over a submission makes the team look like we are incapable of judging things single handed. We need to do one or the other. Either remove the secondary approval or keep it. Optional secondaries will make us look incompetent at judging, which will open the door to everyone requesting specific judges, etc. I would vote to just leave it as is.

If you stumble you ask for help. That is the way it should be. If that isn't the way it you operate, then you are doing it wrong. I don't think Raz is saying "Hey review this behind me and make alterations/suggestions. I think he is saying, we as Judges should know that if we aren't comfortable, (I know something have passed through I have asked questions about) we should ask our fellow judges for assistance. They give it a look and tell the Judge assigned/claiming the Submission what they think. If that makes us look incompetent so be it. Better to look incompetent than actually be incompetent.

All that said. Down for whatever, I got asked for my two cents and I only have singles and can't make change.
