OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: This planet will be made to provide a homeworld for the subhuman species known as the Sociphs. I want a harsh planet that spawn even harsher inhabitants.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Planet Name: Antisoch

  • Demonym: Sociph

  • Region: Far outer rim

  • System Name: Kalax

  • System Features: Only one sun, days last about 36 hours, twelve of which are filled with daylight. The long nights are filled with three moons. One of the moons operates as a prison black-site. The other planets in the system itself show signs of chemical, nuclear, and orbital bombardments. Around a single planetary body there orbits what is assumed to be the remains of either a large moon or a small planet indicating that at one point the Sociph had access to planet cracking technology.

  • Coordinates: M62

  • Major Imports: Weapons and blueprints

  • Major Exports: Mercenaries, illicit substances, weapons, chemical warfare implements.

  • Unexploited Resources: Many in the population are not able to harness the naturally occurring metal qer into it's stronger force-forged version
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION

  • Gravity: 1.25x standard gravity. The inhabitants are dense and strong.

  • Climate: The climate is arid, very little green grows on the planet. What does can survive on very little sunlight and long periods of darkness. It's largely a vast desert.

  • Primary Terrain: Most of the planet is a desert but some grasslands exist. The grass that grows on this planet is different than others as there is a fairly large amount of protein that the inhabitants can ingest and process in their stomachs. In more temperate parts of the world certain crops and fruits can grow.

  • Major Locations: As time stands there is only one city on the planet that is worth mentioning: Achirak. It is brought to light as it is the only place on the planet that has any outside contact with the rest of the galaxy. The planet is held in the iron grasp of its rulers. With Nicair's conquest of the planet he has opened one other major city on the opposite side of the planet he chose to name Haran after Mandalore the Infernal. This area features buildings and architecture that is vaguely more Mandalorian in design along with refugee centers and extra housing for vod that require their use. In this part of the planet also resides his seat of power as well as many of his clan members.

LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Haran
  • Planetary Features: In the far north of Antisoch there is evidence of what was once a frozen arctic climate. The ruins make reference to an ancient order of warriors that referred to themselves as the Qer'rut or Iron Soul. The numerous tunnels indicated that in order to survive the cold they lived underground at least partially. Some tunnels delved fairly deep into the earth while others were relatively shallow. In the more southern parts of the planet there are similar tunnels but only one area indicates any sort of settlement. Here there are references to what roughly translates into a term that could mean either predator or ranger and depictions of the ghastly abominations that these individuals hunted under the surface. It is largely believed by those who study this location that these rangers were criminals of one form or another as there are carvings made of them being what appears to be tortured by other Sociph using some form of magic. Marring the surface are locations that show nuclear and chemical scarring from one war or another. In the far bitter wastes of Antisoch radiation seeps from the very ground and those who choose to live there are a savage primitive population, even by Sociph standards. It is also believed that at some point in time, whether it be by the Sociph hand or not, something made contact with Antisoch with enough force to knock the planet off its axis. How the Sociph were able to survive such an event isn't widely known outside of the occasional joke or comment that they're too stubborn or angry to be killed by anything other than another Sociph.
  • Force Nexus (Optional): [ If you wish to add a Force nexus (light, neutral, or dark), you are required to justify it through your submission and history. ]
Intent: It is being included as a way of explaining the sheer impact that Qerak's (see historical information) momentary lapse into madness had on the planet's force imprint. As a downside, many who choose to live (and there are few) near this location are tormented by nightmares and some even suffer mutations though they would have to live fairly close for an extended period of time. It is here that the Old Sociph deity of madness possessed Qerak and shattered his mind. It is also here that he was said to have created the three moons of Antisoch and thus removed the emotions and feelings of his people so that they may better fight the encroaching abominations.
    Nexus Name: The Shatter
  • Nexus Alignment: Other: There is no inherent good or bad connected to this location. Some who visit it are haunted by visions of death, destruction, and misery. Some speak to their lost family members or individuals they formed connections with (rare that that may be among the Sociph). Some even say they spoke to the psychic emanation of Qerak himself. For those without the proper resolve and personal mettle, this place has been known to drive them stark raving mad and speed up the process of the affliction every Sociph and Tarish is born with, Qerak's Curse. There are those who come out stronger, there are those who gain nothing, and there are those who lose everything.
  • Size: Small - The primary location is a medium sized cave but some of the outreaching tunnels are also affected.
  • Strength: Strong - There is a reason that not many choose to live close to this location and the primitive populations that once called this area home avoided it and claimed all manner of monster inhabited it.
  • Accessibility: It isn't an easy location to reach if just for the relative obscurity of it. There are numerous winding and twisting tunnels that spiderweb around it, as if the planet itself were trying to keep it hidden. While Nicair built his capital city of Haran relatively close to one of the openings to the complex cave systems that link to The Shatter.
  • Effects: Many who step foot in the tunnel system close to the cave chamber itself report a deep seated feeling of discomfort. Auditory and visual hallucinations are incredibly common.

POPULATION

  • Native Species: Sociph, Tarish (Sub-culture of Sociph)

  • Immigrated Species: None.

  • Population: Moderately populated

  • Demographics: 99% of the population is Sociph or Tarish, the rest are barely trusted alien or human traders.

  • Primary Languages: Socishi, a harsh language that somewhat parallels galactic basic. It is said to make many uncomfortable when heard

  • Culture: With Nicair taking up the mantle of Qer'ak on the planet there has been an influx of Mandalorian concepts and ideals on the planet that are relatively foreign to the Sociph. Such things as honor and discipline are seen as either less important or the terms are used as insults at worse. The first task presented to the man, and the one he most vehemently fought for was the absolution of the Tarish slave race from their chains. While many continue to do the same work they did while they were enslaved, they are paid for their work albeit not well to begin. They and their families are provided housing and sustenance so long as they work. Given time saving enough money to find a new place to live and better jobs is possible. Long years in chains have left the Tarish emotionally stunted and angry. Some Sociph that have witnessed the wrath of their former slaves pay their own form of due respect at the savagery and violence they are capable of. The Sociph resisted the changes Nicair with prejudice at first. It took time for the man to begin to successfully incorporate his Mandalorian culture even slightly to his people. While the Sociph will never be true vod in heart and soul, they are capable of holding fast to certain beliefs if it enables them to kill. It is Nicair's hope that newer generations raised in a more Mandalorian fashion will be better able to adapt. None of these changes have taken away the Sociph love of violence and hedonism. Gladiatorial arena and pit fighting are common and a respected profession among their people. As a result of this hedonistic attitude, the Sociph have many advances in the removal of tolerance and addiction as a means of attempting to continuing the enjoyment for as long as possible.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY

  • Government: Martial Dictatorship. Qer'ak is sole ruler of planet provided there is one in position. When there is not a Qer'ak the ruling of the planet is divided between an Alark and a Rur who handle the everyday business and military forces respectively. Below these positions are a number of advisers who often represent subdivided areas of the planet.

  • Affiliation: Each sectioned part of the planet pays tribute to the ruling class stationed in Achirak. The class is spread out and its enforcers see to it that the tribute is paid.

  • Wealth: Those in power have much but care little for it. If wealth is something that gives them more power they value it greatly. What they enjoy is the feeling or subfeeling they get from exercising their power.

  • Stability: The government is barely functioning, if it can be described as a government. There are few laws to keep the people in line and power is readily and easily taken. Those in power will do whatever possible to maintain it. The ruling family has miraculously been in power for several generations.

  • Freedom & Oppression: The Sociph have much in the way of freedom as there are few laws that actually affect them. Most feuds are settled in swift bloodshed and little is cared about for more than a few seconds. The Tarish are burdened by laws and regulations that keep them from venturing far from their farming or mining cities. They spread rumors of what the Sociph are really like, a showing that fear is a fantastic motivator.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY

  • Military: The Sociph fend for themselves in all manner of the word. They have prepared little for an outside assault as they are fairly confident they will never be found by any true power in the galaxy. The military is primarily composed of Sociph commoners with noble officers. When the entire planet despises authority it is challenging at best to keep a functioning military. For many people "the army" coming to their city means raping and pillaging.

  • Technology: It isn't entirely certain where the Sociph are able to get their technology but they have found a way to traverse space around their planet. What they need from the outside galaxy they will trade or kill for. On their own, however, they were able to develop advanced projectile weapons that seared flesh and bone with every successful hit.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

There are many rumors amongst long winded and desperate space farers about the origins of the planet. Some say it was settled by lost human travelers millenia ago who did what they had to do to survive. Some say that the Sociph developed naturally on their planet from a certain breed of ape. Little is set in stone because the Sociph simply don't care.

Interesting idea- a couple of things I need you to fix while I discuss the concept of a planet mostly consisting of force-dead individuals. I am aware of the Yuuzhan Vong, but the Codex looks at everything through the business of balance. I will get back to you on that one.

As for what you need to look at right now is the following two things:

1. You have several mentions that this planet's location is unknown, that is fine. But this is an OOC submission filled with OOC information about the planet itself. So, I am going to need you to fill in the fields that are currently saying 'unknown' etc. People ICly might not be aware, but the Codex needs to know these things.
2. In your military field you mention rape, please edit that out. PG13 atmosphere being what it is, we want to avoid that kind of stuff being mentioned directly.

/edit

Just had a discussion with the Codex- we would prefer you to first submit the species, so it might go through proper balancing, before this planet can be stamped. Still make the above edits though- less work for later.

Alright, saw the edits, looks fine. I am gonna move this to the Pre-Codex while the Species is being judged. You can get Mahet or any of the Codex RPJs to move it back, when the Species have been approved.

I checked out the species submission and noticed that throughout the judgement some things have changed for it. Please reflect those changes in your planet submission. Also- hyperlink to your species in the native species field, please. I will review it again after that.

"Culture: The Sociph dominate their planet with an iron fist. Ninety percent of the world's native population are born force dead and with what the outer galaxy would call sociopathology. "

Remove the mention of force deadness here as well and this will be good to go.

As per the pre-codex rules, linked here, a submission can only be in the pre-coex for a month. This submission has been in the pre-codex for more than a month now. Please let me know if you intend ot complete this submission, otherwise I will archive the submission for inactivity.
