Pirates of the Blue Nebula

The transport shook as the white lights inside flickered. Everyone was silent, Kalcyn was surprised at their discipline. He had spent his life around regimented Stormtroopers and yet the mercenaries of all different species and factions were just as silent before a deployment. Thinking about what led them to this moment, thinking about their survival, and most importantly getting ready for the adrenaline rush of battle.

He looked outside the transparisteel, all he could see was lightning flashes that illuminated the blue clouds. Rimos was a beautiful planet, if he had to die fighting, at least he could appreciate the view as he faded away. An alarm went off, and the pilot in the cockpit, a Trandoshan, gave him a hand signal. He stood up and turned to the ragtag gang of thugs. "Alright" he said. "You all know the briefing, but lets go over this one more time. We're currently approaching a Confederation airship, it is heavily guarded, and is transporting cartographic charts of the Unknown Regions. Our mission is to capture and extract this data, and destroy the ship, leaving no witnesses." Kalcyn looked at each and every one of the mercenaries as he spoke. It felt strange not wearing his helmet. "If you are captured you will not reveal any information whatsoever." Kalcyn wished for his old squad of troopers, they would listen to orders and obey, they didn't need to be told twice, and they always performed to the best of their abilities. If First Order High Command hadn't explicitly asked him to use mercenaries for the mission, he probably would've gone in alone. "Commander, we are approaching," the pilot hissed. "All right you nerf herders! Weapons ready, we're going in hot!" The mercenaries got to their feet and readied their weapons. Kalcyn looked past the pilot's shoulder and saw the sweeping lines of the Confederate airship. Kalcyn began to count down. "Doors open in 5...
4....
3....
2....
1...."
The mechanical transport doors hissed open, and the battle began.
