  • High Defenses: While made of rather non-exotic components, the hull is well made and reinforced, it has heavy armor plating, the shields are layered with multiple shield generators, and equipped with a good deal of defensive weaponry designed to stop close by star fighters from trenching it, as well as anti-missile weapons. It's internal systems and configuration allow for it to repel boarders as well. Altogether, it's a decently made station.

  • Anti-Starfighter: The targeting systems and multitude of weaponry systems make the station able to tear through even the fastest and most maneuverable of fighters, shuttles, transports, and the like.

  • Firepower: It boasts a large amount of weapons, including an orbital strike cannon. This allows it to bring a high amount of fire power on its target. While most of the weaponry are conventional, it also brings to bear a few more exotic types of weaponry to rip apart enemy ships.

  • Cheap: When compared to cruisers of a similar size, or more advanced systems, these stations are incredibly cheap to field, and their use of droids and a very small skeleton crew, means that there is no reason every major planet cannot have a few.

  • Difficult to disrupt: The station is near impossible to slice from the outside.

  • Planetary Shields: When working in groups with other stations, each can create a piece of a planetary shield that can surround parts, or all, of a planet. By working together, each station is able to lower only certain pathways through the shield and thereby keep the shield up at almost all times, while not disrupting the flow of ships and trade. It works well with existing planetary shield generators.

  • Slow to move: While mobile, the station is very much slow. Any time it must adjust itself in space, it takes a long agonizing time. It will not be able to outrun even the slowest of capital ships.

  • Not very mobile: Like it's speed, its maneuverability is very low. It will not be able to be dodging any attacks, unless it takes over ten minutes from the moment of detection to the time it hits.

  • EMP and Ion cannons: While it's defenses are high, and it's shields are competent, once they fall, or if they are unleashed inside, the station's heavy use on automation makes it vulnerable to these forms of attacks.

  • Once Inside: If boarders are able to reach internal terminals, slicing of the stations computer systems becomes possible, and would be able to shut down vital systems. Or if they reach the heavily defender command center, be able to take over the station.

  • Standard Construction: The station was very much designed to be mass produced, and relies on standard forms of defense. As such, it is vulnerable to many types of more exotic weaponry.

“Vicelord, Exarchs, Vicelords, and representatives from the Silver Jedi Order, thank you for your time. Several months back I was assigned a task that at the time seemed difficult, if not impossible. However, this station is my answer to this, and recent raids performed by various groups against us all. It is made of simple components, durasteel and quadranium steel make up the bulk of the station's mass, keeping the price down below that of a standard cruiser of its size. It is fitted together in ways to limit the amount of resources needed for the greatest strength. Powerful shield generators and armor plating will keep it secure from attacks.”

“Next, we add in powerful weaponry systems. Nothing too fancy, however, we use what has been proven effective as a deterrent, long range turbolasers, various laser cannons, missile launchers and other systems. A singular orbital strike cannon will be added, combined with powerful targeting systems, allowing it to precision strike landing zones, sub orbital capital ships, or places of massive enemy build up. Or to be used against approaching enemy capital ships.”

“The station is mostly automated, needing only a crew of about ten to keep an eye on everything. It has a full crew of maintenance droids, security droids, and so much more. There is also a full unit of battle droids inside of it, to be used to defend the station, to board enemy ships, or to go to ground as plantary defenders. It is a fully secure station, needing very little influence, and could in theory be set to run completely automated. Now, the inovative portion of this project, that allows it to fulfill the request made to me is two fold. First, when several are set around a planet in orbit, they can emit a powerful shield that denies entry and protects the world from orbital fire power. Together, they can lower small portions at certain locations, allowing traffic in and out of the planet. Powerful scanners, and sensors, mixed with four squadrons of droid starfighters that can fly close to the ships and scan them for their manifests and registries, as well as scan for contraband, or other issues, can quickly work through a fleet of ships when working with other stations and standard planetary customs agencies. This allows them to monitor incoming and outgoing traffic from a planet.”

“I believe, while simple in design, when we mix the capabilities of these stations, with existing planetary defense and security forces, we create a net that greatly increases out ability to stop crime, contraband, fugitives from the law, as well as to help prevent and deter quick and bloody raids as we have seen in recent days. They would have to deal with the stations first if they wanted to, giving our defensive ships ample time to arrive.”

“The best part is, the price of the GROUP of stations needed to defend a planet, is well within most of your planetary defensive budgets. Cheap, effective, needed. This is not the future, it is necessity.”

Big Dave could save a lot of lives.
