The AHPMD is a monstrous kinetic weapon designed for dedicated anti-armor operations and starship-scale conflict. It hurls 140mm slugs weighing hundreds of kilograms using a triple-stage plasma pulse acceleration system to fling ferromagnetic slugs at hypersonic velocity with alarming accuracy.
Due to the high energy demands, it requires expanded systems that make it non-viable in most small craft. It is best suited as a main gun for heavy ground vehicles, siege batteries, and also heavy weapons emplacements on larger starships. Much like its predecessor, it features a dual-feed system for ferromagnetic slugs allowing for loading of variable ammunition belts without removing the weapon from the fight completely. Paired with the bore size, this allows for alternate munitions such as Explosive Slugs, high yield EMP slugs similar to Ion Mortars in function, depleted Baradium slugs for armor piercing, Anti-personnel canisaters, and Anti-vehicle canisters to be fired with relative ease as needed without a major disruption to operation.
