SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Microgrooves: Percidium features tiny, evenly spaced grooves around 10cm long, ½ cm deep, and 1mm wide. These microgrooves enhance the alloy's flexibility and thermal resistance by giving a small amount of space for the alloy to bend or expand without major sacrifices to structure. These microgrooves also give the alloy a slightly rough texture.
STRENGTHS
  • Bend, not Break: Percidium Ultra boasts high ductility, allowing it to bend further than most metals and granting it a strong resistance to most low-velocity impacts regardless of the weight behind them.
  • Resonance Frequency: Percidium's light weight and high ductility combine to grant the material a unique property: when sound waves hit the alloy, it vibrates to the frequency of the sound wave, harmlessly absorbing most of the sonic energy.
  • Wear & Tear: Designed for extended use in a variety of planetary atmospheres, percidium alloy boasts high heat and acid resistances.
  • Battle Tested: Percidium Ultra boasts exceptional structural strength, surpassing most common metals in energy resistance and exceeding even its main counterpart Ersteel SCLA in kinetic resistance.
WEAKNESSES
  • Radiation Vulnerable: Percidium has very little resistance to radiation. Its low density combined with its microgrooves allow easy passage for radioactive particles.
  • Conductive: Percidium Ultra is an electrical conductor, providing little resistance to electrical pulses from ion or EMP weapons.
  • Perfect Frequency: While normally extremely resistant to sonic attacks, percidium alloy possesses one fatal weakness. When sonic frequencies between 20 and 21 megahertz are applied to the alloy, it reaches its maximum natural amplitude. As a result, percidium alloy will suffer catastrophic structural failure, almost immediately bending at sharp angles before being torn off in large chunks,
DESCRIPTION

Percidium Alloy is one of the two cornerstones of Alge Imperial's shipbuilding operations.

The concept that would later become Percidium first emerged in 898 ABY in @FN-999's Borosk-based Imperial remnant. Recognizing that he could save costs over the long-term by manufacturing his own alloy rather than licensing them from other corporations, FN-999 commissioned a team of researchers in the Borosk Imperial Shipyard to create a combat-rated alloy for fitting the next generation of Imperial warships.

Two years later, the newly privatized shipyard administration under Alge Imperial continued its work on the alloy, intending to use it as a core revenue-generating product. During the development process, it was decided that to maximize combat effectiveness there would be two separate alloys: Alloy Lx, a light and flexible alloy for starfighters as well a small craft, and Alloy Hx, a heavier and more resilient alloy for capital ships. Additionally, both alloys were designed to have durability and blast resistance exceeding that of titanium. Development was completed in 901 ABY, followed by both alloys entering mass production.

Alloy Lx was developed into the Percidium Ultralight Alloy, named after the lead researcher involved in the Lx project, Percy Hallahides. Percidium boasts several unique traits that distinguish it not only from its heavier counterpart but also from the majority of steels and alloys on the galactic market. The most important of these distinctions is its microgrooves, long but extremely thin surface grooves that provide additional surface area allowing for a limited range of bending or expansion of percidium plates without significant damage. Additional features of percidium include great energy and kinetic resistance as well as above-average resistance to corrosion.
