Name: Pe'nr Be Uavr; Or Uavr for Short
Designation: Non-Sentient
Homeworld: Mandalore
Language: N/A
Average height of adults: 2.2 Meters
Skin color: Gray
Hair color:
  • White
  • Gray
  • Rarely, Black
Breathes: Type I
Strengths:
  • Impressive stamina and constitution make it a fearsome desert predator
  • Able to retain several gallons of water in the glass-like structure on its neck, aiding in its survival in even the harshest of deserts on Mandalore. The water structure passively collects water from the very little moisture in the air over time
  • Skin and fur help it withstand the incredible heat of the White Deserts of Mandalore
  • Menacing appearance
  • Tough hide make blasters and slugthrowers nearly useless (7)
  • The menacing crest atop its head acts as a powerful sensory suite, enhancing both sense of smell and acting as an ISO that allows it to sense temperature, air pressure changes and electrical signals that living things give off so that it can find prey in the tall white dunes of Mandalore's white deserts
Weaknesses:
  • Destroying the glass-like water structure that adorns its neck will cause rapid dehydration and death
  • While blaster weapons don't seem to be able to destroy the water structure, the energy can cause the water to boil, thus killing it from causing the water in its system to boil
  • Enough weapons fire WILL kill it, easier to aim for its neck.
  • Kinetic damage against its neck will often shatter the water structure on impact
  • Severely injuring the crest atop its head not only handicaps the beast but can cause crippling pain
  • Blunt force trauma or a single blaster bolt to the crest can cause disorientation for a time
  • Water poisoned with toxic minerals like lead etc. causes immediate shock and death upon ingestion
  • Lightsabers
Distinctions:
  • Water retention neck structure
  • Large, thick crest atop its head
Average Lifespan: 45
Races: N/A

Estimated Population: Sizable population on Mandalore, common sight on the white desert plains of Mandalore
Diet:
  • The Uavr eats various species of cacti for water. It can't digest the plant matter though and thus spits out the dry pulp after it travels through a complex digestive system that extracts all the water from it
  • Carnivorous
Communication:
  • Electrical signals
  • Roars
  • Barks
  • Growls
  • Howls
  • Body language
Culture: Uavr in Mandalorian culture have been credited with pulling the Mandalorians from the brink of despair after the Mandalorian Exision that left several areas of Mandalore as white deserts. As the mounts of both raiders and pioneers they are seen as prized companions in the desert regions of Mandalore. Despite being larger and generaly more agressive than the Napna Vornskr it is rare to see them outside of the intense heat of the White Deserts or very arid areas on Concord Dawn and Mandalore.
Technology level: N/A
General behavior: The Uavr live in packs of four to ten with a matriarchal leader. This alpha female leads the pack into hunts. When they travel through the dunes of Mandalore they walk in a straight line. The weakest, elderly, young and sick travel in the middle of the group with the strongest to the front and the pack leader traveling a longer distance behind so as to not leave anyone behind and make sure that they are not attacked from behind. This ensures the survival of the ones who cannot fight well enough for themselves. They move during both day and night as they wander the dunes as nomads searching for food and drink.

Despite being one of the largest predators on the dunes they still travel cautiously as occasional Mandalorians or other nocturnal predators will attack their young. Once they have found a place to rest, only about half of the pack will go to hunt with the rest staying behind. The young, old and sick will eat first and after that the weakest will eat until the last member, the alpha female will eat. Usually, out of respect a sizable portion of the hunt is given to the Alpha. If a member of the pack is dehydrated, the member with the most water stored will regurgitate a portion of their water into the mouth of the member in need.

In captivity pack units will often be much smaller with the owner decidedly the alpha of the pack. They perform extremely well as mounts in arid climates.

History: The Uavr was a species of canine that evolved over several centuries in Mandalorians natural deserts. However, after the Mandalorian Exision where the Republic, spurred on by the Jedi, assaulted several Mandalorian worlds, leaving white sand deserts and devastation across the Mandalorian worlds of Mandalore, Concord Dawn, Ordo, and Fenel. The white deserts were a completely different beast than the natural deserts that Mandalore had once sported. Over the centuries however, the population of Uavr spread to these affected areas due to their impressive adaptations to harsh desert climates. Before the great domed cities like Sundari and Padelfia sprung up the beasts were used by roaming sand raiders and struggling Mandalorian nomads alike. Eventually they, along with many of Mandalore's other desert wildlife spread and evolved to be even more resilient to harsh desert climates.

These creatures by many historians, prior to the Gulag Plague, were considered to be the saving grace that allowed Mandalorian civilization to spring back in the form of what would be called the New Mandalroans, the pacifist splinter group that would become the planet's most powerful faction over time until the Clone Wars. Since then however, the beasts have seen use throughout Mandalorian space on the many arid, desert planets and areas ravaged by the the Republic of old.
Notable Player-Characters: N/A
Intent: The Mandalorian faction decided to take a more story and lore oriented approach to their roleplays to entice writers to participate more. This submission is an attempt to flesh out the lore of the planets the Faction Admins saw as "Core Mandalorian Worlds" and thus contribute to the lore-based roleplay we are trying to encourage.

It'll get stabbed like anything else?

Even the creatures that have shown decent resistance to blasters in Clone Wars and Rebels are cut like anything else by lightsabers.

EDITED
Although I added it, I'm pretty sure its safe to say that armor rating of 7 + no mention of lightsaber resistance means its not lightsaber resistant. Seems pretty redundant to add that in.
