  • Manufacturer: Mirdirmorut, MandalBioEng (MBE-1)
  • Model: Pegasus steed

  • Production: Minor
  • Affiliation: Clan Australis
  • Modularity: No
  • Material: Mandalorian Steel, droid components, blaster cannon components
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  • Classification: Fourth Degree
  • Weight: 850kg
  • Height: 2 m
  • Movement: Repulsorlift and Quadrupedal
  • Armaments: Blaster Cannon
  • Misc. Equipment: Shield
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Blaster cannon coming from the head
  • MBE-1
  • Shields
Strengths:
  • Catch Me If You Can: The Pegasus Steed is designed to be fast. Whether galloping along the ground, or screaming through the air, its incredible speed allows this impressive droid to leave its competition in the dust
  • Hit Me With Your Best Shot: Shields fitted to the Pegasus Steed's chassis means that it can take a few hits before sustaining any serious damage
  • Head On: Oh yeah, it has a laser in its head. The Pegasus Steed's great head is fitted with a standard blaster canon. That means when he lowers his head at you, you'd best lower yours in prayer
  • MBE-1: Proprietary sensor and communication technology keeps the Pegasus Steed in line with and up to par with the gold standard of droids for which Mirdirmorut is known
Weaknesses:
  • It's a Bird, It's a Plane: It's... not terribly stealthy. The Pegasus droid was designed to make an entrance. It's big, it's loud, it has a canon on its head and accent lighting to boot. Do you want to be stealthy? Not with the Pegasus around. Everyone will know where it is
  • Not In There You Don't: Have you ever tried to fit a horse into an escape pod or through a small door? How about a horse with wings? No? Neither have the manufacturers of the Pegasus droid. It's not going through any small openings any time soon
  • Hold on Tight: With no more than stirrup notches for your feet and handles on the mane to grip to, you need to concentrate wholly on staying on the Pegasus droid while riding it. Even the strongest and most skilled rider is at risk of being flung off if it decides to make an unexpected turn. Additionally, there's no way to hold on and accurately fire a sidearm or wield a bladed weapon, forcing the user to rely totally on the droid's head canon
  • Please Input Command: Without a personality matrix, the Pegasus droid cannot think for itself. While it can receive and comprehend verbal commands, it lacks the computing power to act independently if its user cannot directly tell it what to do.
DESCRIPTION
Nibsani likes to make her appearance in style. With a slave owner on Nar Shaddaa owed a visit by the ex-dancer, she decided she needed something... special to give her entrance a little flair. Luckily, Mirdirmorut knew just what to make. Enter the Pegasus Steed. A huge, sleek black equine droid with elegant blue accent lighting and repulsorlift technology fashioned to look like wings, this brilliant creature was just the thing.

It couldn't just look good, however. Mirdirmorut made sure to show off their manufacturing prowess with the steed. With a state-of-the-art quadrupedal and repulsorlift combined setup, it's one of the fastest droids in its class. Because it's a relatively large target to hit, they fitted it with standard shields to absorb some potential damage as well, considering it was for Nibsani after all, and there's no way she wouldn't end up getting shot at.

Speaking of being shot at, the twi'lek wanted some firepower of her own. Enter the steed's head canon. A standard blaster canon in the steed's horn means that the steed can give as good as it gets. Finally, Mirdirmotut also had it fitted with a full MBE-1 comms and sensor suite, just to make sure every box was ticked and i was dotted.

However, augmenting such a droid didn't come without its setbacks. For one, the Pegasus Steed is not stealthy, not even a little bit. It's big, it's loud, it's designed to be seen. Speaking of large, not only the size of a stallion, but a winged one to boot, squeezing the steed into an escape pod or through a smaller door is just not going to happen. Even Nibsani's own vessel, The Firefly, won't hold it.

Additionally, Nibsani needed a few weeks of training to even be able to ride the steed. In keeping with the authentic look of a wild, untamed stallion, it has no traditional seat or harness. She had to learn to hold on properly, and even with the training, there's no way she'd be able to use her own weapons while atop this droid.

Finally, Mirdirmorut decided against installing a personality matrix. A one tonne Mandalorian steel stallion capable of flight at incredible speeds with a wicked blaster canon in its head? Considering there was no way Nibsani wouldn't have eventually said something to upset it, keeping the droid subservient and not sentient was the safer course, even if that means she has to command it directly.

..N..O..N..L..E..T..H..A..L..
An interesting concept. There are a few issues here.

We have a droid that is both top-of-its-class-fast both on land and in the air, and can shrug off damage due to both shielding and the material it's made from. It can also dish out a fairly hefty hit.

Its weaknesses are that it's big, noisy, your character might fall off and can't use their own weapon (circumstantial at best), and it needs to be micromanaged.

Consider it wasn't you that was using this thing but someone else and they decided to come at you with it in a thread. Seems a little unbalanced, doesn't it? We need to add a few more hard weaknesses to this guy to make it fair on the playing field.

First thing I suggest to add is a major weakness to EMP/ION attacks.

Secondly, I suggest putting some hard limits on how often it can fire the blaster canon without overheating, and a limitation on how it can fire it (IE: can only fire the canon straight forward, head must be lowered to fire which exposes the rider to retaliatory fire).
