Major Locations:

Bay of Secrets

The only ruin left above sea level, the bay's entrance is located near the coast of Pax Insul's second largest island. The Bay of Secrets is difficult to access by air due to a lack of flat plateaus and thus requires more simplistic forms of travel in the form of seagoing watercraft. Once inside, explorers will discover intricate carvings into the natural rock formations and several archaic structures carved into the cliffs and rocky shores. A keen biologist may notice how much of the local ecosystem has developed a dependency on these ruins.

Aside from the ruins, the bay also provides a secluded refuge from poor weather and choppy water, making it an excellent location for setting up camp on the remote world should one travel to it.

The Hidden Isle

The Hidden Isle is so called because it's virtually impossible to see from space, despite being the twelfth largest single landmass on the planet. This is due in part to the constant overcast surrounding the island and also due to the unusual way the sun's reflection off the water causes a murky green colouration of the atmosphere from high altitude and orbit. The Hidden Isle isn't the only such landmass to be obscured or virtually invisible from orbit but is the largest and most significant of them.

Aside from its white sandy beaches, pointy peaks, and various valleys and caverns, the Hidden Isle is home to an abundance of larger lifeforms ranging from seabirds who use the high peaks as a nesting ground to large insects that inhabit the caves. The various bays, inlets, and fjords around the island are also a breeding ground for young fish and sea creatures making the Hidden Isle perhaps the most fertile of the landmasses as well. With a constant overcast, it isn't uncommon for the Isle to receive regular rainfall but oddly enough it rarely ever storms making the island relatively tranquil.

The Lonely Lights

Easily the most remarkable location and the most difficult to traverse, the lonely lights is the only known ruin of an advanced civilization on the world. The underwater city has been eroded away by undersea currents, earthquakes, and water pressure leaving behind a large yet desolate ruin. A fascinating detail, and its namesake, are the lit signs dotting the many structures; the civilization responsible for the settlement's construction had invented an advanced form of solar energy that even worked in places where sunlight barely touched, causing all functioning technology relying on this power source to still operate underwater.

Aside from this, the ruin is also home to various technological findings and is thought to be on parallel with the Old Republic in its earliest days, suggesting that this planet was once home to a space faring people who were wiped out sometime before the Great Sith War.

Culture: As an uninhabited world, Pax Insul is devoid of any cultural significance or social activity. However; various ruins on the planet suggest that an advanced civilization once inhabited the world and that they likely operated similarly to the core worlds, developing sprawling metropolises and focusing heavily on high technology, renewable energy, and hyperspace development. Despite a lack of insight on how this civilization fell, there are no signs of internal strife or warfare; almost as if the people disappeared over night without a trace.

Technology: None; the former inhabitants were on a similar level with the Old Republic before the Great Sith War.

History: Pax Insul has no historical records, thus all knowledge relies heavily on conjecture and theory. Sometime before the Great Sith War, Pax Insul had several larger landmasses rather than the many smaller islands found presently. Due to the number of recent volcanic islands and seismic activity, it is likely that a natural disaster occurred which split many of these landmasses resulting in the sea flooding and forming large lagoons, and deep crevices. However; this does not point to any rationale for why the civilized inhabitants disappeared. The post-disaster landmasses were still not large enough to be classified as continents, which would suggest a civilization highly adapted to life at sea. How or why they went extinct is unknown and no burial sites have yet been discovered.

The rather bizarre nature of Pax Insul has left its brief and vague history as something of a 'final frontier' for the explorers of Wild Space. The distant world is an oddity and full of mysteries, dangerous, and pleasantries alike. Perhaps further study will yield greater results or maybe the world will forever remain an enigma.

Intent: To create a bizarre, tropical world with lots to discover located in Wild Space.
