She was given a choice.

The incendiary rounds had set the building on fire, endangering all those inside. But Surea charged at Amani as well, and Valery didn't know them well enough to know who would come out on top. They found themselves in a clash of blades, and the Keshian just gritted her teeth while she tried to manipulate the flames again.

This time, she was trying to kill the inferno that would otherwise swallow the building whole. The only problem was that it requires all of her focus.

"Amani!" she called out. "You have to keep her busy!"

Surea pressed down with her blade, letting her senses fill the whole room. Sure enough, Valery Noble Valery Noble was fighting back the fire. But how long could she last? Again the sound of her ship returned. Another pass over, unleashing another salvo of burning fire. They needed to wipe this place out, burn it to the ground. But Valery wasn't going to help Amani here, then? Good. The Sith pressed harder, using the mechanical might of her arm as she grinned.

"You won't understand. Not yet." She left her blade in her mechanical hand as the other brandished the dagger. Swiping it's bloodied edge out for Amani Serys Amani Serys 's waist.

Her confluence of emotions distilled until only a simmering revulsion remained. Valery's words became muted and distant, but the end result was the same.

A streak of pain burned across her abdomen, and Amani yelped behind gritted teeth. She glanced down to see the line of red now leaking out underneath the fabric, forcing the pain to the wayside as she became single-minded in her attempt to subdue Surea.

If nothing else, Amani's weapon was superior in reach. With the staff she could continue to keep the Sith's saber in a bind, while using the long end to strike Surea in the face. Her intent was to create a moment of disorientation, disarm her of the saber, then pin her to the ground with the staff in one fluid movement.

While Valery was trying to fight back the fire, she could feel that Surea's ship was coming back around for another attack run. With its weapons aimed at the building, Valery waited for the last possible moment and hurled a large piece of debris from the building's wall straight for the cockpit with the Force. Whether it would damage the ship, take it down or even just scare it off, she didn't know. But it was all she could do against it right now.

Despite her efforts, though, the barrage of incendiary rounds caused the fire to spread so explosively, that a fireball expanded through the hallways and out through various doors and windows.

The blast was powerful enough to knock Valery off her feet, and when she recovered seconds later, she heard the Mirialan's yelp of pain. She had been stabbed, was bleeding from the abdomen, but the fight was still on.

"No..." Valery muttered as she looked at the burning building — there was no saving it anymore. So in that moment, she made the decision to focus on the one responsible, hoping they could at least take her down to prevent this from happening again. As quickly as Valery could, she moved back toward the two.

Surea's com blinked. And her face darkened. Damage to her ship? The Miraluka kept her attention on Amani for a moment longer. Long enough that as the woman twisted her staff the Sith could let her saber disengage. She stepped back at the same moment, letting the other end of the longer weapon sail just past her helmed visage. Then raised a hand. The Force twisted as she lifted one of the ruined tables near by, sending it for her foe.

The fire was spreading. She could feel that much. But Amani was stronger than she anticipated. The distraction had been enough to keep Valery at bay, but to take them both on without the assistance of her droid? A grim sort of smile took over as the Acolyte leapt further back, towards a window. "You can't cure this rot, Jedi." A final warning before she fled the now burning building. She might not have killed who she intended, but at least she burned away most traces of her Rot.

Amani spun around just in time to block the incoming table with the Force, its impact causing her to skid backwards until she fell backwards. She clutched at her waist, blood continuing to pulse out with each beat of her heart. Only now did the pain become measurable.

"You can't cure this rot, Jedi."

The woman made her escape. Leaving the Jedi behind to helplessly watch the ward burn away. All those victims inside. Why would she do this? It made Amani despondent. And it made Amani angry.

But for now all she could do was look weakly towards Valery, at a loss for any meaningful words.

Watching the Sith Acolyte jump out through the window, she considered going after the woman. Valery was fast, and she had an arsenal of tricks and abilities to turn against her. But looking back, she spotted the bleeding Mirialan and instantly decided against it — enough lives were lost today already, and she'd rather make sure Amani would be okay than risk losing everything.

"Come on, we have to get out of here."

Valery said as she rushed over and brought one of her own hands to apply pressure. The more blood she lost, the weaker she'd get, so it was for the best that Valery tried to do something about it. She wasn't a healer, but she had enough medical training to apply first aid on the battlefield, and that's what she planned to do.

"Not all is lost, the Sith spread around her own blood everywhere. We can get a sample."

"But-" Amani winced from pain, relenting quickly thereafter to Valery's decision. She reached down to heal herself, though the pain, blood loss, and emotional conflict of the moment were all keeping her from a more thorough execution. At the very least, the mirialan was no longer spilling blood out of her gut.

"Help me up," She sighed, raising a hand for Valery to pull onto. During the process, Amani took a small vial from her medkit, and scooped a sample of the Sith's blood into it. Better than leaving with nothing.

"Why would she do that?" There was likely no satisfying answer to the question. Not without hearing it from Surea's own lips. But she could find no other way to cope with such cruel senselessness. Next time, Amani would pry the answer out of her if she had to.
