STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES :

(+) Peak physical health and condition- Matukai philosophy is based on mastering the physical body so it may focus the Force. Pash, even without the power of the Force, possesses exceptional strength, speed and stamina.

(+)Expert Martial Artist/Melee Combatant- The Matukai are experts of martial arts, using the Force to employ their bodies as deadly weapons. Pash is highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat and the use of the Matukai polearm called a wan-shen.

(+) Serenity of Mind- Matukai teaching also emphasizes the importance of a spirit freed from stress and burdens. Meditative martial arts, physical exercises, and somatic rituals help Pash maintain calm in his spirit and brings the Force into focus. As such, he keeps his head in battle and his cool in interactions with others. This clarity of mind also makes him a good listener, engaging friend and helpful counselor.

(-)Tortured Soul- Pash struggles with emotions associated with the loss of his loved one and his inability to save her, which he blames upon himself. While his Matukai practices help to control and assuage these emotions, regret, guilt and fatalism still plague him on occasion.

(-)Addiction- Pash is mildly addicted to a narcotic incense he uses for Matukai rituals. Going without it for an extended period of time can lead to withdraw symptoms and difficulty in focusing on the Force.

ABILITIES:​

The Matukai focus on the physical manifestation of Force control; physical action and Force usage are one-and-the-same. Meditation is paramount to Matukai, and includes methods such as endurance against extreme physical hardship or physical combat. The Matukai channel all their Force energy into augmenting their physiology, such as strength, controlling body temperature and enhancing stamina, speed and reflexes. In combat, the Force enables Pash to move with astonishing speed and coordination, his wan-shen a blur as he dodges blows and even blaster bolts. In practice, Pash Force powers are almost exclusively limited to those that control the body. He excels at the use of such powers.

APPEARANCE:
The ritualistic physical disciplines of the Matukai have given Pash a chiseled physique, as fit functionally as it appears. His straight brown hair is kept shoulder length and usually left to do its own thing. His eyes are crystalline blue and clear, his smile marked by strong, white teeth and ranging from charming to rakish to sincere. His complexion is the coppery tone of the people of Lothal. Pash has a tribal-style tattoo around his eye on the left side of his face, which he received upon becoming a Matukai Adept. He typically sports a short, scruffy beard.

Pash usually wears Matukai robes, which are similar to a Jedi's in greens and whites. He also can be found with rather non-descript clothing. When carrying his wan-shen, the head fits into a sheath, the haft collapsing to about a foot, giving the appearance of a long, thick bladed knife hanging from his belt or across his back.

BIOGRAPHY:
Though Pash's father was Lothalian and his mother from Seoul 5 System, Pash claims no world as his one, for his parents traveled wherever their purposes took them. Pash carried on the tradition embraced by his mother and father as skilled adepts of the Matukai, a Force discipline in which the body becomes a vessel to focus the Force. The Tafo family was pleased when it was determined that Pash felt the Force as his parents. The strength of the Force was not significant, and disciplines such as the Jedi would have found Pash’s connection to the Force too weak to train. But the practices of the Matukai were designed to concentrate such meager connections within the body to a strong, focused strength.

Pash learned well, growing in his martial skills and his spiritual disciplines. His parents also instilled within their young son the concept that, while their religion focused much on one’s own body and the Force within it, that one has a duty to use their skills for the good of those around them.

Pash was elevated to the rank of Adept, a full fledged Matukai, and began to train a student of his own. Tara was a strong-willed young woman, frustrating her mentor at every turn. Yet somehow they fell in love. The Tafos fought in several conflicts for which the cause was worthy, until 844 ABY, when his parents disappeared with billions during the Netherworld Incident.

Tara and Pash continued on, joining sides in the ensuing faction wars, and the Omega War, during which Tara was tragically killed in 849 ABY. Pash tried to reach her as the enemy surrounded Tara, but he was unable to get to her in time, and watched as the woman he loved was cut down. In a frenzy, Pash decimated the entire enemy unit, leaving them literally hacked to pieces, himself nearly dead.

Pash was devastated at Tara's loss, wracked with the guilt that he could not save her, leaving him a broken man. He withdrew to a backwater in the Outer Rim, willing no longer to fight for others' causes, or to pursue the ways of the Matukai. For two years, Pash sank into a hole, drinking, drugging, getting by as a bouncer, body guard, moisture farmhand, even beggar. Finally, something spoke to him one dark, wretched night, and Pash crawled from his hole at the fringe of the galaxy, took up his wan-shen, began again the Makutai rituals, seeking to foster the Light in the galaxy.
