Part I "Lost and Missed" [Forgotten Blades Campaign]

Forgotten Blades
Part I - "Lost and Missed"
Cliffsideritual.jpg

Hundreds of tiny specks trooped across the landscape hugging the jagged cliffside. Precise formations and calculated movements were the only descriptions that could be given of the mass of legionnaires marching below. Each one surged forward with military might, their chests puffed out, shoulders set back, heads held high. They all bore their new unit’s respective shoulder patches: the crimson star of the 119th, the grey shield of the 120th, the crossed rifles of the 121st. The crimson stars were the ones less seen, though. The legionnaires of that unit bathed in a liquid of similar hue had risen from the bottom of the totem pole, molded in the hands of a single man. They were bred for war, for combat, for endless violence, all for the sake of the Fringe.

It was how soldiers were made. They existed for the sole purpose to follow or lead, and rarely did those leaders make great changes in the galaxy. It was saddening. The lack of exemplary leadership and the resolve to alter history was not surprising. Only those with strength, courage, intelligence, and honor could do so. Almost 99% of the entire galaxy lacked almost all of those virtues. They lacked the strength to make change, the courage to stand firm in their ideals, the intelligence to spot openings and greatness, and the honor to have a moral base. But these marching men and women, they held those virtues. They strove for the Fringe, they died for the Fringe. More importantly, the lived for the Fringe.

They were a legacy. Dranok Lussk’s legacy.

Dranok Lussk was their leader. A man that stood triumphant over dozens of blazing worlds and multitudes of corpse mountains. His progression in the Empire was almost nonexistent given the shell of a man that he had been. Broken, scarred, unfeeling. He’d been like that his whole life up until then. A young Dranok was ignored by his parents, resented by his “friends”, and grew up with nobody to call his own. That was the case until he finally broke and isolated himself on Ziost, accepting the world’s frosty climate to blend with his soul. As with the Force’s mysterious ways, he discovered something he never expected out in the frigid wilderness. His daughter.

A light was found. But the bigger the light, the bigger the shadow it casts.

Those words rang true when the man found himself trapped away in the endless bureaucracy and administrative tasks the Fringe had him doing in service of their Navy. He practically built their military with his own two hands. Sleep deprived, weary, and riddled with memories; he succumbed to the darkness yet again. The shadows shrouded him, his scarred hands losing grip of the peak of light, tumbling down the jagged slope into the vast abyss of an eerie nothingness.

---

That nothingness turned into reality as Dranok gazed of the viewport. A heavy durasteel frame set the sides of the plasteel window, the thick armor of the Ascended Demon. His ever-faithful companion in almost everything he did. The Hapan manufactured Nova-class Battlecruiser was his for the taking of a too-good-to-be-true price during a system-wide corporate meeting back when be handled business affairs on his own. So he jumped up, snagged the Hapan executive, and purchased the vessel. It was used, a few loving dents occupied the broadsides of the hull, but they didn't affect its capability. The Hapan turbolasers were old, however, retaining their weakness as they had for ages. The sluggish recharge rate wasn't to Lussk’s liking, so he replaced them.

Replacements were always needed. However, the Lord Admiral preferred to clutch on to things that were of use. Which was why he’d assembled those he knew for this particular assignment. The task at hand wasn't one foreign to him, but a crucial one. Foreign Affairs missions like this always had the possibility of failure, and to combat this, he selected only the most qualified to follow him. @[member="Jared Ovmar"] and @[member="Tarika Sadow"] were both Fringers, both Knights of the Prophets. They were to serve as ambassadors to Csilla, the Chiss homeworld. The other pair of girls were not recognized by anyone on the crew besides Dranok himself. @[member="Paega Anginous"], a Sith, was his apprentice. That being said, she had to accompany him almost everywhere he went to observe him and learn. @[member="Kära Vi'dreya"], was the most important one to him. She was his daughter. The Sith gave her some shore time now that she’d recently become a Knight as well, and she’d surprised Dranok with a suggested meetup. He may have been on Fringe business, but he couldn’t pass the chance up.

Footsteps rang out behind the robed man. The golden-eyed figure swiveled on his heels to spot an officer tromping towards him, a datapad in hand. The most dangerous thing in the galaxy is a Lieutenant with a map and a compass. Dranok smiled at the age-old veterans saying about the newly christened Lieutenants from the Academy. With hands clasped at the small of his back, the Lord Admiral fully turned to face the young man. The Lieutenant’s gaze wavered upon locking eyes with Dranok’s, a slight sprinkle of hesitance resting in his eyes.

“Yes?”
He snapped a sharp salute, which Dranok returned. “Sir, your assistants for the assignment are gathered in the commons area. Would you like them to report here?”
“Yes, please. Thank you, Lieutenant.” Dranok gave a tight smile and a nod to the young man, who saluted once again and about faced to carry out his orders.

Within minutes, the loudspeaker rang out with the young man’s voice. “All key mission personnel, please report to the bridge. I repeat: all key mission personnel, report to the bridge. That is all.” It died out with the signature click. The Lord Admiral still kept his position at the point of the bridge, his analytic eyes surveying the crewmen working dutifully on their terminals and officers who power-walked back and forth to check on their sectors of authority.

Dranok smiled. He would be the one to change the galaxy.

Again, welcome to Forgotten Blades and have fun!

The current setting is Dranok and his ship ascending from a landing pad near the Rattatak cliffside graduation ceremony. The 4 participants of the thread will be residing in the Demon's commons area where other legionnaires and crewmen are relaxing off-duty.

Jared was amazed at the scale of the ship he was on. The Ascended Demon, Admiral Lussk's flagship, was a beauty to behold. If he were still a simple criminal, like before Spencer had taken him in, he would have considered the options he had to commandeer this ship for himself. But things change and this was one of those changes. Spencer was the only real family he could speak of and she introduced him to the Fringe. It was her opinion he would be right at home here and she was right, the Fringe feels like home.

He was surprised Admiral Lussk had chosen him for this mission, Jared had only met the Admiral once during a training session with Ashin Varanin, the power the Admiral had displayed during that session was astounding. Jared still was not sure why he was chosen, maybe he had left an impression; who knows. He turned around and regarded the commons area he was in, a lot of personal were running around making preparations for their journey. Jared nodded at Lady Sadow, another person he had met during the same training session. He was a bit worried about her, she made it clear during the session that she was pron to rush into things without thinking. Attention would have to be paid to the Lady, to make sure she would not get everyone killed.

When the loudspeaker started to ring out with the request to report to the bridge, Jared started to move instantaneously. He moved with the grace of a predator, serving his surroundings with the Force making sure there was no immediate threat against him. While walking he memorized the lay-out of the ship, just in case he had flee quickly. It was not hard to notice the Admiral, the way he presented himself; it was clear he was used to power and expected everyone to obey him the instant he commanded. Jared bowed slightly to the Admiral as a courtesy “Admiral Lussk, I am here to report for Duty. Where do you need me?” Inside of him Jared had to sigh with distaste, he disliked that he was not in charge. But at the same time he recognized the necessity of it, you have to start somewhere to get real power.

Tarika Sadow*

Shadow Fleet Commander | Rule Breaker
Tarika had come to the mission for the sole purpose to prove she is command-able and she was the best person to take command and hold on to it, she would not fail at this one. As the ship descended she looked around and found the crew lollygagging around making waste of their time, she had a mission to do and not one to waste so she was just a bit irritated that the crew couldn't find anything better to do than running around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off, as she looked around the call came in to get to the command center of the ship where the admiral was.

The call came in but was she really inclined to listen to it and heed the admirals call to arms? was she really going to risk her own safety on a mission for an admiral that held no respect for her? No...You can't think like that, trust and respect is earned not a given right her thoughts came to her like a vice squeezing the ripeness of someones dome to an end. Tarika knew there was only one way to gain respect and earn trust, and that was by proving she had the ability to lead and be in command, she was a commodore and she was a command staff, but she also had earned her rank unlike some others, so therefor she knew she was the only one capable of this mission at command status save for the admiral, so here is it, we're at war and now new commanders need to rise... what would be the move to make in chess? Checkmate.... she would earn her command by placing all others in check mate, and then snatch the lower ranks up in her force grip and steal their life from them.

She walked in moments later and regarded the admiral with a simple and elegant nod of the heard and friendly smirk as she grouped up with the rest.

The Ascended Demon was one heck of a ship. Paega's master, the Sith Lord Dranok Lussk, was apparently in charge of the giant cruiser and its hundreds of crew members. The blonde apprentice had been right when she had judged the Sith to be an influential powerful figure. It had been only a few weeks since Lussk had taken her in as his apprentice. In those few weeks that Paega was the Sith Lord's apprentice, she had learned quite a lot. As far as she was told, this mission was a sort of a foreign affairs mission. Paega ofcourse tagged along with her mentor. Experience, after all, was always valuable.

Paega noticed that there were three other different members in the ship's common area besides the ship's off-duty crew members. She realized that she had met one of them before: From what she could remember, a girl named Kara around her age she had met during her stay at Dromound Kaas. The other two, Force-Users from what Paega could tell, didn't seem as though they were members of the Sith Empire. That really didn't matter, because from what she had been told, the majority of the men and women onboard the cruiser were not associated with the Empire.

The blonde apprentice thought of perhaps introducing herself and starting a conversation with the other Force-Users, but before she a chance to speak, the loudspeaker came on and ordered the 'key personnel' to report to the ship's bridge. So Paega followed the others there, bowing to he master once they arrived, awaiting orders. If nothing went horribly wrong, she thought, this mission wouldn't be too much of a challenge.

The endless void of space had always mesmerised and enchanted her, drawing in her attention, captivating it, one of the few things which could successfully leave her speechless each time she stood to admire it. Flecks of light passed by whenever the hyperdrive was active, leaving the young girl momentarily breathless. It was this that always called her to space, to the stars, and since learning who her Father was it did not seem all that strange. Lord Admiral, a man trained, honed and perfected to navigate space, the cause of her infatuation if not directly. More like that not it was in her veins, pumped around her body through her blood, intertwined with her DNA, at the core of her being. How odd it was to have this similarity having only met the man a handful of times, if that. When they lowered into orbit and then broke through the atmosphere of Rattatak she couldn't help but feel momentarily dismayed, closing her eyes to relish the fleeting memories of vast stars and planets they had witnessed on their journey. But the moment had passed, already, and the time for action had begun.

Unlike the others Kära had lingered in the shadows, neither talking nor eating, her presence would not have been noted had the crew not expected her onboard. Instead she sat in silent contemplation, staring out of the viewing port. Anxiety rose through the very core of her being, every fibre of her locked in insufferable paranoia. Why had she asked to see him again after so long? Part of the young girl hated him, the part which knew, she knew that he still associated with the likes of Lucien Cordel... The man alive in the Galaxy she wanted dead more so than no other. Could she overlook this? Could she use it to her advantage, to get close to the man who had torn the veil of innocence from over her eyes at merely seven years of age? Perhaps... But that was not her reason for being here. She was recently Knighted, and still seeking ways to expand herself. Kära had every plan to use this as an opportunity to further her influence, even if it went unnoticed for the time being. She had a habit of doing so, the most pressing example being the Ashborn, the Apprentice she had kept for years prior to her ascension to Knight, all without the Empire finding out.

When the intercom rang out she watched as everyone halted in their actions and stood to momentary attention, like puppets who had their strings pulled to make them stand strong and tall. Several of the men were intoxicated from the journey, having overestimated the time it would take to reach the Ancient planet. To be intoxicated in general, nevermind when you had a job to do, irked her. It showed signs of a weak willed man who was trying to drown his sorrows. This was no scene for a party, it was not even a social gathering, they had a job and a duty to fulfil and they couldn't even do that right. These men lingered behind after the others disappeared, and so when Kära finally rose up, moments after the majority of the host left to attend to their duties and the key personnel wandered off to meet her Father she too strayed back. When she neared them they seemed to find it highly amusing that a child as young as she was onboard; she may have been a Knight of the Empire, but Kära was still only fourteen years of age. She had earned her promotion through extremely hard work and loyalty to the Empire, but they did not know that. They did not even know who she was.

Part of her was angered; was it because it was her Father they were failing? No, surely not... She hardly even knew the man. But there it was anyway, the reminder of the Warrior on Maramere, who failed to even protect his village and their honour, he still has one more she remarked, the words stuck fast in her mind, not easy to erase. With a small smile she ran a hand across the arm of the first man, causing all three of them to halt in first confusion and then false-understanding. Slowly she manipulated their minds, drawing it out so the process was slow, gradual and for them gruelling. In the last moment, when they were going to be completely hers, little more than bags of meat to do as she pleased, her presence exploded. No more did she seem like a young, teasing seductress to them, because Kära was anything but, as chaste as they came, instead they felt as though their veins were on fire as she ran the Force through their bodies, detoxifying them in a purposely painful manner. It did not have to be like that, it could be as painless as a sedative, but that wouldn't make them understand.

"You have a duty to do, I suggest you attend to it. Immediately." She hissed, while their bodies dropped to the floor, convulsing slightly as the pseudo-fire spread through their veins. When the last of the alcohol had left their systems, alongside any after effects, the men rose up, a look of fear and subjugation in their eyes. With a hasty bow, and then a salute when they remembered who they were, they hurried off to carry out the will of the Lord Admiral, following the orders of his Daughter no-less. Perhaps this hailed a new leaf in Kära's development. Maybe she could find it in herself to get along with Dranok Lussk... After all, manners did not cost a thing, and to be a Sith did not mean you had to be heartless. Regal, composed, a Sith could be both while still holding immense power within their left hand alone. And with that realisation seeping deep into the young Umbaran she gathered herself up, brushed down her robes and glided out of the mess hall towards the bridge.

Upon entering she swept up to where Dranok stood, settling a hand upon his shoulder as she passed and leaning in, facing the opposite way to him, she whispered delicately into his ear; "Hello, dearest Father", the way the words travelled through the tiny space between them left the others ignorant to the minor exchange, in many a curiosity would rise up. But in a heartbeat it had passed, those three words told Dranok all that he need know. That he had his Daughter back, not the shell of one he had bore witness to over the past few years. Walking full circle around him she stopped and stood to the left, facing him as opposed to the crowd, shaped in shadows cast by the systems. When everyone was focused on Dranok she shifted away, so that they had no idea where it was the young woman was standing. Just the way she liked it, unknown, obscure, yet present all the same...

The following minutes that ensued post-announcement were filled with motion as crewmen and officers moved in unison to their respective stations in order to prepare to depart. Dozens of grey-clad men and women chatted idly as they moved, their minds entirely focused on the task at hand. From his standpoint, the Lord Admiral hoped that the rest of his crew was as disciplined as the bridge crew was. Given, the bridge held the best crewmen and officers of the ship, but that shouldn't keep the rest from progressing. The man released a heavy sigh, writing a mental note to perform some more drills. As he tucked the thought away, the first of the key personnel began to file from the door on the far side of the bridge.

The first of them was @[member="Jared Ovmar"], a Knight of the Prophets. Dranok knew the young man by sight, witnessing the man in action during one of his and Ashin's training sessions. He was one of Yun-Harla's pupils, and since she was one of the Big Three, Dranok understood power when he saw it. He would become strong, the Lord Admiral could foresee it. Jared strode forward, his eyes flicking back and forth to inspect each corner of the ship as if memorizing it.

“Admiral Lussk, I am here to report for Duty. Where do you need me?”
Dranok returned the slight bow. "Mr. Ovmar, I'll need you down in the engines room. See if you can't find something to do down there." The Lord Admiral offered a light smile, hoping the young man would comply and carry out the order. His file had nothing on mechanics, so maybe he'd see the logic in Dranok's order and assist the engineers and learn something.

Moments later, another figure strode in. Commodore @[member="Tarika Sadow"] was her name. A fairly young female Zabrak with a knack for fleet command and tactics. On top of that, she was also a Knight in the Prophets of the Fringe and too, like Ovmar, would serve as an ambassador to the Chiss and Atrisians. Her arrival was nothing unlike what he'd already seen in her. Confident, purposeful paces graced her elegant form as she reached Dranok, a smirk on her face as she gave a nod. The Lord Admiral returned the gesture.

"Commodore Sadow, it's a pleasure. Mr. Ovmar has been tasked with heading down to the engines room to assist the engineers, why not accompany him and help?" Dranok's assumption read that she also had no knowledge of mechanical systems. It would be a learning opportunity for her as much as it was for Ovmar, which also served to strengthen the bonds between the two Knights in working hand in hand. Of course, Dranok gave an order, but he hoped the woman would understand the authority in his tone as he turned to greet the next newcomer.

@[member="Paega Anginous] was the 16 year old's name. Her slender figure moved about the bridge with a purpose in mind. She greeted Dranok with a formal bow, which the Lord Admiral returned, a grin pasted across his face. His thoughts went about, delving into his memories to recall information on her. They'd met on Korriban during one of the selection phases in which apprentices fought each other tooth and nail to win a master. Sadly, only Knights were present and merely eyed the big, bulky, stronger looking apprentices from the bunch. However, this particular Sith Lord had another thing in mind. Dranok admired mental and emotional strength more than anything, and she exhibited both strengths as well as capability in combat. He would grow her to be great.

"Paega," the smile disappeared. "You'll stay here on the bridge with me. Maybe the bridge crew might need help."

The words barely passed his lips as his golden eyes were averted to the door once more. An even younger girl arrived, a dark aura emitting from her as she brushed past several crewmen. Her visage didn't occur to him for a moment, his own eyes not recognizing her. Though he still felt her waves through the Force. Kara. He breathed. The Lord Admiral swallowed, his form almost shaking at the sight of a daughter he'd not seen in years. He instinctively ducked back down into the stoic posture he always bore and presented his daughter a bright smile as she reached him.

"Hello, dearest Father"

The Lord turned his head a fraction, his voice barely a whisper. "Hello, my daughter." His softened expression immediately diminished as Kara retreated to the shadows behind him. Given that their encounter was minimal, the man still felt a lot better now that his child was accompanying him. Dranok didn't open his mouth to issue an order, he'd prefer that she remain on the bridge so that the two could could chat or catch up on things that've happened. As Dranok began to turn to face Kara, he was met by a clomping of footsteps down the bridge central aisle. The Lord's gleaming gaze shifted to eye the new figure tromping towards him. Dranok surveyed the golden-brown plates of the incoming droid, noting the blaster rifle slung across its back.

The droid went by Horak, one of the ancient models of the HK-51 series manufactured by Czerka Arms. It was a combination functioned droid, its specialties lay in protocol functions and translation whilst its other function ranged from assassination to stealth. Dranok found Horak when he scavenged on Beslavis back when he was a mere Apprentice. He discovered the droid tucked under a feet few of snow and took him for his own, letting his corporate workers re-program the droid and enhance its cognitive skills.

Dranok kept the grin on his face as Horak neared, his entire being waiting anxiously for the droid's often cynical remarks.

"Query: Master, why are all of these meatbags scampering around?"
Dranok smirked. "Because I told them to."
"Realization: Ah. Master, you are quite the influential one."
"Indeed. So what's up?"
The droid hesitated. "Report: The engine room reported a few systems troubles."
"I already sent people down there." Indeed he had. The Lord was glad he made the right call to dispatch people to help calm the fire bellowing in the Demon's engine room.

Dranok gave a bow to the droid in thanks as Horak bowed in return, moving to take a spot to occupy the flank of the main door to the bridge. The Lord shook his head at the thought of the droid's remarks. Oh how he cherished that droid. And so, with Horak's departure, the Lord Admiral relocated to enter a heated conversation with several other senior officers.

OOC: You guys are simply awesome! Great job so far. I'm loving these quality posts and seeing NPC interaction. And yes, everyone aboard the Demon is capable of interaction. That also means Horak, my trusty side-kick. Talk to officers, crewmen, legionnaires, the cooks in the mess hall, anybody! Do whatever, I'd just like you guys and gals to do what Dranok said ICly. That means Jared and Tarika are going to help the engine crew with their mechanical issues, Paega is wandering about the bridge and talking to crewmen, and Kara is off sneaking around in the shadows.

Good job and keep it up!

Jared listened to the orders the Admiral was giving him and had to suppress a frown, he did not have any experience in the engineering field. “I am not sure I can be of use with that, Admiral, but perhaps I can learn a thing or two from the engineers there.” he offered with a smile. Without waiting for an answer he bowed lightly and then left the bridge. Jared took the elevator down to engineering and looked around for a while, trying to make sense of the buzzing of the machines and the various mechanics running around doing their job.

After a while one of the mechanics noticed his arrival, walked up to him. “Could I help you with something, sir?” the mechanic asked him. Jared smiled at that and said. “You can call me Jared, Admiral Lussk asked me to help out in any way I can. You should know that I have no experience with engineering, but I am a quick learner. Anything you have to teach me, I am willing to learn.”

The mechanic looked at him for a second and then shrugged, directing Jared to follow him further into the pit of the mechanical beast.

Shadow Fleet Commander | Rule Breaker
Tarika heard the Lord Admiral and nodded to him and smirked, she had a thing for command but this was not command, she was given the duties of someone who has no command, like a normal serving drone that goes day in and day out to serve whatever it is programmed to and this made Tarika's calmness start to sizzle, it had been a while since she stopped being sith but she still had those traits in her and so she boiled with anger at the request that she would need to soil her own robes. for her own duties aboard his ship. But this was his ship after all so Tarika listened and walked off all the while dealing with her anger.

As Tarika walked down the hall to the elevators she conjured a lightening arc in her hand and shot it at a droid that stumbled upon her, she knew the thing couldn't die so it was the perfect target to let off steam with and as soon as she let the arc sizzle into him she felt much better, The droid would need some sort of maintenance to get running again but it would continue to live. As she continued to get to the elevator she made sure to quash her own anger and decided to see this as an opportunity to gain more experience for command duties, weird how he decided to send a command staff to take care of a simple problem as a fire in the engine room instead of his own apprentice or daughter.

Tarika got into the elevator and shortly afterward got to engineering and found the main engineer Tarika reporting for engineering duty she said with a sigh and waited for him to acknowledge her I'm here to provide help with some sort of explosion or mechanical fire, where is it? she asked when he looked at her with an idiotic look like he didn't understand basic, then the male lead her to the spot and she began to draw the flame into her body to help put the flames out.

Paega watched as the Sith Lord assigned the individuals different orders. She frowned in her mind as she watched him order the two (more powerful looking) Force-Users to go assist the engineers in the engine room. It looked as though the situation must be pretty bad down in the engine room if her master wanted two qualified Force-Users to be down there to help the engineers. "Yes, master." replied the slender blonde as she was given her orders, which was to stay on the bridge and to possibly help the bridge crew. How she would do that, Paega did not have not the slightest idea.

It turned out that the blonde apprentice would be more bugging the bridge crew than actually helping them. Most of the crew looked to be highly efficient, seeming to be hustling about with plenty to do. It appeared as though that it would be better if she didn't interrupt whatever they were doing. So far a few seconds, Paega eavesdropped on the conversation between the Sith Lord and the HK-51 droid. From what she could hear, there apparently were a few system errors' down in the engine room, which explained why her master had chosen to send the two Force-Users down there.

Paega looked around the bridge, gazing at the starboards and charts as the officers moved around busily, talking to each other or working on some function of the ship. She went up to a man whom appeared to be an officer of some sort, who looked at her as though wondering who she could possibly be and why she was even on the ship. "Uh, excuse me, sir. Is there anything I can do here to help..?" she asked the man.

@[member="Kära Vi'dreya"]
"So when will we be departing?"
"Soon, sir. The engines are heating up right now, just let the engineers handle it." The middle aged Captain replied.
"Alright, good. Make it happen, Captain." Dranok nodded.

The Captain snapped a salute, dropped it quickly, and turned to head back down the far aisle of the bridge to begin preparations for launch. They'd be departing here shortly, the Demon's Class 1.5 hyperdrives were well worth the cost of improvement. The engines would bring them to the world's atmosphere within 12 hours, tops. Its sublight maneuvering and speed were the fastest of its class, almost no ship its size could stay mobile and fast like the Demon could. With the fairly long trip in mind, the Lord Admiral shifted his gaze from the working crew and on to his daughter pacing around in the shadows at the tip of the bridge. The blonde-haired man gave a sigh and strode over, his posture relaxed and easy.

"So I heard that you were made a Knight, some Sith officials informed me when I contacted Korriban after you got in touch with me. Who was your Master?" And of course Dranok would be concerned as to who her Master was. If he was of ill-nature, Dranok could resort back to his old comrades in the Order. He would stop at nothing to utterly destroy any and all who dared lay a finger on her. Yet it'd been years since they'd made contact, he had absolutely no idea of what happened to her. He couldn't bring himself to dominate through her mind, either. Asking was the easiest and simplest way.

Jaax Artus was the assistant lead engineer of the crews down in the engine bays. Keeping the systems online and working at optimum was his job, it was what he got paid to do. A veteran of the crew, Jaax knew his way around the Demon and was well respected by almost everyone on the ship. Almost everyone, those specific people being the newcomers that had just arrived on the vessel. Apparently they were here for some important mission or something along those lines. Given, the crew was Admiral Lussk's own personal crew, they'd all been trained in everything from hand-to-hand fighting to small arms warfare and small unit tactics. Every member of the crew was capable of holding his own in a fight, but those assigned in the 119th legion were pros. Pros in everything ranging from boarding operations, search and seizure, special operations, and standard straight-leg work. They'd earned Jaax's respect on multiple occasions.

There were still those ready to earn his respect, though. And at that thought, a pair of strangely dressed individuals marched down the corridor. Their clothing clashed with the standard grey work uniform that the entire crew wore. Jaax dropped his hydrospanner into his dirtiest hand, wiping his other on the side of his trousers. The first approached, a dark brown hood covering most his his demeanor, yet his voice was friendly.
"Could I help you with something, sir?"
“You can call me Jared, Admiral Lussk asked me to help out in any way I can. You should know that I have no experience with engineering, but I am a quick learner. Anything you have to teach me, I am willing to learn.”
Jaax sniffled and rubbed his nose, glancing down in disgust as he wiped his hand against his trousers once again. "Alright, Jared. I'm Master Chief Petty Officer Jaax Artus, you can call me Chief." He produced a fairly clean hand and shook Jared's firmly before dropping it quickly, gesturing for the robed man to follow. Another figure caught his eye before he turned. That woman who accompanied Jared was now talking to another engineer, Petty Officer Jaymes Yon, who seemed surprised that she was there. Jaax cleared his throat before calling out to the woman, "Excuse me, miss. I think you'd be better off following me and your friend here. I think Petty Officer Yon has that station." Jaax threw Yon an understanding nod before turning around to lead them into the main engine chamber at the rear of the vessel.

Multiple engine racks were aligned against the thick durasteel hulls, humming and buzzing in unison. He left the two standing at the medium-sized door, walking over to the engine with more problems than he could count. He produced the hydrospanner from his pocket and began to pry open the control mainframe, placing the metallic plate on the deck next to him before fiddling with the wires some. With the circuits in his hand, he rotated slightly to motion for them to come over. "The problem's with the wiring, the heat displacement configuration is all unsynchronized and we're leaking some fluids. If we don't get it fixed soon then we're not gonna move anywhere." The Chief rose from his crouch and cracked his fingers, "Any of you know how to work with heat or fire?"

Lieutenant Reece Vicks stood erect beside the starchart with a line sketched across, indication of his attempts at plotting a successful course to Csilla. For some reason the databases in the karking system wouldn't allow him to plot a straight line course and curved a fraction near the middle of the trip. It wasn't too big, but big enough to result in a time difference than their estimated arrival. Plus it'd make him seem incompetent to the Admiral, which was one thing Reece would never let happen. Even though he'd graduated from the Rattatak Military Academy several months prior, he'd done well enough to advance from his spot as a hangar officer to bridge officer. The Admiral himself had informed him of his positional promotion, a meeting of which that Lieutenant Vicks couldn't stop smiling.

He took a small step back, releasing a heavy sigh and planting his hands across the chart's projector. "What a karking mess..." He breathed, his voice barely audible to even his own ears. The young Lieutenant soon resolved to attempt again, his fingers splayed across the holographic keyboard as he began to input coordinates and timeframes for the journey. Again, the fething system plot the course as a straight line before being snagged in the middle by some unknown force. With his jaw set, teeth gritting, he took a step back and let out another sigh. Footsteps rang out right next to him, a presence that could only be a Force user shrouded his being as his eyes widened. The Admiral... Lieutenant Vick's feet snapped together as he right faced, his right arm moving with fluid motion into a picture-perfect salute.

Only to be greeted by a freckled, blonde-haired girl who looked like she wasn't even in her twenties. Reece froze. His fingertips above his brow quivered as his face reddened with embarrassment. His green eyes searched frantically and found solace in the fact that only the girl had noticed and dropped his salute, easing his parade-ground posture. "Uh.." The girl shifted her feet.
"Uh, excuse me, sir. Is there anything I can do here to help..?"
"Um, why do you ask?" His face was still recovering from the pink hue that had etched across his face. His nervousness and shock urged him to ease the emotion out by doing something, so he reached back to scratch his buzz-cut head, losing himself in a habit before dropping his arm. "Let me rephrase that, who are you?"

OOC: So that was pretty awesome guys. I'm really digging this NPC action, it's like fleshing out new character each post! Keep it up! Next post we should be finishing with the preparations and getting on with the flight. And if you're wondering why I posted, Kara said she couldn't post at the moment so we're starting the cycle over again. Overall, I'm totes loving the quality of the posts I'm seeing. Good job!

“Any of you know how to work with heat or fire?” Jared had to laugh at those words; he did have a general idea on how to create fire and how to siphon it off. But until now he did not have a lot of practice with it, he was far too busy with trying to up his lightsaber combat experience; it was hard to learn though worth it in the end. The Universe is built up off molecules and the Force holds everything together, so it would not be a far leap in logic to assume one could manipulate the molecules with the Force. He was still not sure on how to actually create fire out of thin air, but he did have a theory on how to extinguish it. It would be a simple matter of siphoning off enough energy from the flame so the molecules would slow its movement.

With a wink Jared said “Tarika here has a way with fire, do you not?” And then he mused on about the properties of the new theory he was developing. It should not be very hard to turn solid objects and general materials into liquid and vice versa, it should also be a possibility to turn gasses into liquid or solid material. Turning the air in someone’s mouth into solid carbonite, the possibilities are limitless. But turning living material into something different has turned out to be more difficult than he anticipated. Then Jared just regarded the Chief and Tarika to see what they would do next.

Tarika was looking at the fire trying to think of the best way to siphon it off and then it came to her and she smirked at @[member="Jared Ovmar"] and spoke with discernible authority to him but also with a respectful tone to her voice I need you to stand back at least twenty feet just in case this doesn't work she said and then waited for him to do as she asked while standing near the fire, almost directly on top of it and then she looked back and once they got back enough she held out her hand palms open and closed her eyes focusing on the force to allow it to help her influence the flames to be bent to her will. This will be a very dangerous part of the equation but if it worked the ship would have t's engines back, if it didn't the engine room would blow up and they all would be dead within this small room.

It appeared as though that the man, who appeared to be a lieutenant from what she could tell, had expected the admiral of the ship to be coming towards him, not the freckled blonde girl in her late teens. Paega observed as he dropped his salute upon seeing her. The man looked more confused than angry as he simply looked at her. The blonde apprentice smiled to herself observing the pink hue that had now etched across his face as he asked who she was.

It certainly was a legitimate question. Some pilots were more than happy to shoot someone out the airlock if they had no reason to be on their ship, so Paega took the question and immiediately answered it. "I am Admiral Dranok Lussk's apprentice... My name is Paega Anginous. My orders are to help out the bridge crew, I believe." she added, introducing herself to the man.

From the blonde apprentice's observations, it appeared as though that the lieutenant was fairly qualified at his job. Yet it also seemed that he was having trouble plotting a straight course in the ship's navigation system. "Um... I'm sure you're much better at this than I am, but shouldn't the course be straight? It appears as though that there is a curved fraction in the middle." she said politely with a slight smirk, trying not to sound too critical.

The Lord Admiral frowned as Kara didn't reply to him. The young teen had dropped to the ground, her form smoothly transitioning into that of a lotus meditation position. Her entire body flowed with the rising and depression of her small frame, her figure easing into a relaxed state. Dranok kept his distance, onlooking at his daughter with a genuine smile upon his lips. He breathed an easy sigh, striding in front of her before dropping down into a similar stance of his own. The grin still remained as his breathing slowed, his mind reaching out to touch those of the crew and the special child before him.

The crew, no doubt, were staring at their commanding officers with furrowed brows, but said nothing and continued on with their laborious work. Hopefully they would be launching off soon. Hopefully...

Jaax had to frown at the chuckle that Jared released, his ignorance showing blatantly across his face. Why's this guy laughing? Jaax merely disregarded his laughter as he began to speak.
“Tarika here has a way with fire, do you not?”
His question was obviously directed towards the female that had accompanied him down here. Judging from the wink, the Master Chief Petty Officer had to assume that they were...together or something along those lines. Their body language told it all. Jaax Artus couldn't help but give a sly grin and nudge the cloaked man beside him. "She yours?" He whispered, a devilish grin upon his lips. The experienced crewman didn't wait for an answer and instead moved next to Tarika.
"I need you to stand back at least twenty feet just in case this doesn't work."
Chief Artus frowned, but gave the woman's words a second thought. "Well alright, let's give the lady her space." He gestured a nod towards Jared and moved a little more than twenty feet away from the engines and its worker.

Reece's face was still recovering from the inferno of nervousness as the girl began to speak.
"I am Admiral Dranok Lussk's apprentice... My name is Paega Anginous. My orders are to help out the bridge crew, I believe."
The Lieutenant's eyes widened yet again at her occupation. The Lord Admiral's apprentice, the Force user that was training to be just like their master in almost every aspect. His feet snapped together yet again to correct his mistake, his hand coming up to render a salute. "Ma'am, I am Lieutenant Reece Vicks, the bridge's navigational officer." He lingered in that pose for a moment before snapping his hand down and relaxing his posture. His green eyes surveyed the girl another time, this time regarding her with the air of authority as she began to speak again.
"Um... I'm sure you're much better at this than I am, but shouldn't the course be straight? It appears as though that there is a curved fraction in the middle."
Lieutenant Vicks nodded, "Yes, ma'am. I've been trying to work that out for the past hour. It's being stubborn and won't straighten out when I re-calculate it." He moved to the side of the holoscreen, pointing out the curvature of the plotline as he added a narration. "I think there's some gravitational interference here, the navigation system is supposed to automatically avoid these things because who would like crashing into a planet or star?" He chuckled, a light grin on his demeanor. "Know how to fix this?" Reece inquired, hoping that the girl had some knowledge in starship navigation.

OOC: Sorry for such a short and low quality post. I really just wanted to get this one up and tried to make it without getting distracted by my skype chat (@[member="Jared Ovmar"]). As soon as the engines are fixed, then that's when we'll be departing! Stay tuned for more surprises and challenges.

Onwards through the shadows the young girl roamed, unseen by the crew and even the droids as she slipped amidst the darkness, surveying the bridge. It would not do for her to misjudge any aspect of this room, of this ship itself in truth, if something went wrong she had to know what she was dealing with - where each blast-door was situated, the most likely places to go up in flames, the more vulnerable aspects, explosives and the likes. She also had to come to grips with where the others had gone; she may have been a Sith but these were members of a team, and like or not you didn't jump ship at the first sign of trouble to leave the others behind. It wasn't that there was some trace of noble intentions within the Umbaran, merely that they had a duty to the Empire, to the Sith and to Lussk who had orchestrated this campaign. To leave at the first sign of trouble was to proclaim oneself a coward and a craven... Two things which Kara definitely was not. Even Sith had to be reliable. Her thoughts drifted to her own subordinate, which compared to the host of men that Dranok oversaw was nothing... Yet for a ten year old girl to have managed such? For the likes of a child to fully subjugate a monster such as the Ashborn to her will, before she was even a Knight in her own right? Well in many ways one could see that as measuring up. It was a feat not often heard of within the Sith. But then again, children themselves were rare in an Order where blood ran thick and freely.

For a while she monitored everything; the descent of the others into the engine room, where something was going wrong. Paega's wanderings and subsequent embarrassment of a high-standing Officer, Dranok's wanderings across the bridge, and apparent observation, from this alone she could tell he was searching for her, he had that distant look in his eyes which was not one of command. Yet at the slightest necessity of his attention he snapped back into his conscious state and was immediately prepared to discuss what was necessary. The sight of Lussk's droid made Kara long for her own, her little Astromech who had become quite the companion and the bodyguard she had recently acquired. Between him and Ashborn Kara was never really in harms way, except for against fellow Sith... But thanks to the way she conducted herself and her business in the Sith Kara was not a figure anyone wanted dead, at least right now. With her inspection of the bridge complete the young girl settled herself to one side and closed her eyes in focus. She had not been given a task to fulfil, so until her Father thought of something for her to do she would remain in place. It had been a while since she had truly focused on the Force, on her deep-rooted meditative state, and so she allowed herself to become immersed in the darkness.

With her eyes closing to a shut she began to draw upon the natural darkness in the ship, the cause of so many Sith in one spot, and focused her breathing. When her body began to unwind, yet a rage boiled up from within her, harnessing all of her raw, uncontrolled yet contained emotions, she flopped down to the floor and immediately entered a lotus-position, allowing her chest to rise and fall. A Force-presence which was far stronger than even Lussk, her Father, could have imagined from one so small began to radiate from around her, seeping into everything and everyone in the bridge. The Force was her strong point, it was her unseen companion, the river which flowed within and without her; she had little strength, what she lacked she made up for through the Force. But the sheer intensity of it was more than enough to answer Dranok's question ~ she had come a very long way in the seven years they had been apart, and she had grown and expanded as an individual to the point where she had indeed gained the rank of Sith Knight despite her youthful age.

After a while his question rang in her mind, as though he had only just spoken of it, yet in truth many minutes had passed. Opening her eyes, and gently retracting herself from the meditative state, the young girl turned her sights to her side where Dranok had joined her. The crew seemed to avoid the pair, some of them seeming somewhat confused, yet none of them dared to shrink from the task at hand. "The truth is often not what is important, but people's perceptions. That they believe it to be true enough to tell you says it all in my eyes. If you wish for a definitive answer then look at me and tell me what you see." Although that may not have been the best of things to tell her Father, considering that the left half of her face contained scarring which had not been there when they had last met, a token of gratitude from the man she had subjugated... Of course it had been her intention for him to snap and lash out, so she wore the scars as opposed to hiding them. "And I had three; Vazela, the cause of the incident on Elom, Daxton and the Emperor Himself." She said all of this with a slight shrug of her shoulders. "But I learnt separate of their teachings, also." The fourteen-year-old just stared at her Father, the youngest aboard the vessel by quite a margin and yet all the same she held herself well, the weight of all she had experienced assisting her more so than burdening her.

"Frek, I am guessing it is not normal that that thing is on fire?" Without waiting for a reply Jared started to siphon off the warmth that was being generated by the fire, to make it more safe for him to come near. Then he grabbed hold of one of the fire extinguishers that were mounted on the wall and started spraying its contents all over the board.

After a few seconds he was all done and the danger had passed. But then Jared took a look at the damage he had done to the hardware, coughing he said: "I seriously hope you did not need that.."

Pagea gave the officer a friendly nod when he introduced himself as Lieutenant Reeve Vicks. She watched in fascination as the officer saluted her, after she introduced herself as the admiral's apprentice. After the introductions, they directed their attention back to the navigation system. The blonde apprentice intently gazed at the curve in the middle of the navigation.

She smiled slightly along with the lieutenant when he told her about how the navigation system automatically tried to make sure that the ship didn't crash into a planet or a star. Paega had to agree. Getting turned into star-dust was not on the top of her to-do list, so she decided to try and help the officer out, although she had a rather limited experience and education on ship navigation.

Paega decided to offer a safe advice. "I say we should deal with the problem when we get there. We can't know for sure what the problem is here, but we'll probably figure what's causing this when we pass through that area that's causing the curve. We'll just have to reset our course after we pass through." she said. "We should maybe try going around it if we have to. Better to be safe than sorry." she added.

As in the past, the two were distant yet so close. Their minds and souls were intertwined by the Force, Kara being born of his own DNA and his natural urges to hug, scold, and wag his finger at her had been hardwired into his genetics. It was simply the way life was written. Coding for life and its creation was never wrong, everything happened for a reason. There was a reason for his childhood isolation, a reason for his desire to become a military leader, and a reason for his insatiable thirst for power and authority. Granted, he was a Sith and their trademark behavior was either wanting nothing more than pure chaos and death or power and order. Although Dranok fell in the latter category, his hunger for such virtues was beyond describing with words. Only his actions could speak of the might growing within him each and every passing day. It was simply to be.

Caught up in his own daydreams, he blinked his eyes open. The Lord found himself staring back into the eyes of his child, solemn and cold irises gazing back at him. Icy and unfeeling, yet there was something even more than meets the eye. Something deep within that was begging to be released with every inch of its being. Only the future could tell what that was, but judging from the dark energy emitting from Kara, he assumed that it would be world-shattering. Enough power and strength and might to make all beings crumble or cheer. It was her destiny. The future held a infinite number of endings, her decisions would spell her doom or grant her anything she so desired.

"The truth is often not what is important, but people's perceptions. That they believe it to be true enough to tell you says it all in my eyes. If you wish for a definitive answer then look at me and tell me what you see."
Dranok's gaze intensified, his golden-hued eyes shimmering with profound interest. "You've grown. Quite remarkably, to say the least." Her eyes would tell all. "Yet I see scars, things from the past that bear the weight of regret." He sighed at that analysis, "I see myself."

"And I had three; Vazela, the cause of the incident on Elom, Daxton and the Emperor Himself."
"But I learnt separate of their teachings, also."
Dranok nodded, his head rotating slightly to glance at the crewmen and ensure they were still on task. "I see...you've had powerful teachers. I know of Vazela and Emperor Ardik, yet Daxton is unknown to me." The Lord's posture shifted, his hands moving to support him as he rose from his meditation position.

"Let's go, we're about to depart."

Jaax Artus snorted at the cloaked man yanking the extinguisher from the wall socket. So here was an alleged Prophet Knight and he couldn't even use his weird invisi-magic to make fire disappear? He couldn't help but give a hearty giggle at his awkward movements with the fire extinguisher and stood by in case he might need help. After a few more moments, it was assured that he didn't need help, Jared was quickly learning to master the movement of the foam spewing from the nozzle and channel its power to dissipate the flames and smoke.
"Frek, I am guessing it is not normal that that thing is on fire?"
Jaax shook his head, a grin pasted to his face. "Not normal, but not rare either. I'm sure it'll be fine, this has happened to us before." Master Chief Petty Officer Artus moved forward to kneel and examine the damage. Actually, it wasn't too bad. The mainframe for the engine cooling unit was a little seared, but it was nothing a little tape and prayer couldn't fix. It wasn't a serious issue, anyways, random bad luck was about the only thing that could prevent a successful flight.
"I seriously hope you did not need that.."
"Nah man, I think we're good to go." He took the extinguisher from Jared's grip, returning it to its home and leaving with Jared. "I think you'd better head to the bridge now that we're finished. We should be leaving soon." Oh right! He forgot to report. He raised his wrist comlink to his mouth, "Bridge, this is the engines, we're all good to go."
"Copy that, Engines. Bridge acknowledges, send key personnel to the bridge."

The Lieutenant just couldn't stop grinning. It was the first time he'd ever seen visitors aboard the Demon and this girl was amazingly gorgeous. Being only 19, he was sure that she was in her 16s or 17s, giving him an extra advantage when it came to youthful appearances. She also seemed quite friendly for a Sith, the Lord Admiral must've been rubbing off on her. Admiral Lussk was known for his honor and discipline despite bearing the name of a traditionally savage and warlike culture. Warfare and the Force were about the only similarities between Reece's commander and the Empire on the other side of the galaxy. He sure hoped this girl was friendly and not just presenting a facade, it wouldn't be cool at all if she ended up getting mad and killing him on the spot. Not cool at all.
"I say we should deal with the problem when we get there. We can't know for sure what the problem is here, but we'll probably figure what's causing this when we pass through that area that's causing the curve. We'll just have to reset our course after we pass through. We should maybe try going around it if we have to. Better to be safe than sorry."
Reece smiled warmly and nodded in agreement, "I was thinking the same thing. Plus, we can just blame the errors on the system since it's not our fault anyways." He chuckled lightly at the last statement. "Now with this in place..." He reached over to tap the access panel a few times, setting the course and confirming the destination, "then we're good to go. Now we can relax, or do you need to return to your Mast- I mean, Admiral Lussk?"

OOC: Goooood, goooooooood. Very nicely done! Now that everyone's posted, the posting order will remain the same. Kara just made her post first since she returned from LOA and wanted to get back into the action. We should finally be setting off to Csilla and continuing on with our journey from there on! Also, you don't exactly have to return to the bridge. Just make sure Dranok knows ICly of your character's whereabouts on the ship and it's fine. Like with Paega, Lieutenant Vicks offered for her to stay and chat whilst giving her the option to return to Lussk. The choice is yours, but remember, all of these decisions will affect the outcome of Part I of the Forgotten Blades campaign.

"Thank you, Jaax. This did not seem much in training, but I already have a new theory for manipulating matter with the Force. Good luck in here, I may come and visit you later on." With that Jared left Engineering and stepped inside of the lift going up to the bridge.

When he finished the mission with Admiral Lussk he would have to refine the process of molecule manipulation. He would also have to come up with a good name for it.. Jared never was very good with names, his originality did not extend to naming things. But he would cope in the end.

Stepping out of the lift he run into an assault droid who did not seem to want to move aside for him. "My friend, this hallway is not big enough for both of us besides each other. Move out of the way, please."

Perhaps Paega had been a bit too friendly to the bridge crew. Still, this was the first time that she found herself to be on the same side as Non-Force Users, and the blonde apprentice decided that it would be better to stay on the same side with them. Besides, she thought, there really was no need to be hostile against these people. After all, they were the ones flying this ship.

"I'm quite sure Admiral Lussk doesn't need me at the moment." she remarked, glancing from her position to where her master was, then redirected her attention to the lieutenant. The blonde apprentice found herself gazing out of the bridge's windows and away at the dark void of space. She found herself mesmerized by the Galaxy. It reall was a big place, something she never really had a chance to ponder about training endless hours in Korriban.

She decided to strike up in a conversation with the lieutenant. "So tell me more about yourself, Lieutenant Reece. What is your life story? What inspired you to join this "Fringe" organization? After that, maybe I'll tell you a thing or two about myself..."
