Panacea [The Imperial Remnant]

The IRV Harridan, a Victory IV-class Star Destroyer, reverted from hyperspace over the planet of Setus Prime. It sailed steadily from its exit point till it achieved orbit of the planet just outside of its atmosphere, the grey durasteel hull glowing from the system's sun. Navy personnel and officers alike walked in and out of the bridge, the crew pits full of technicians working on their various consoles that showed the status of the ship and other information. Captain Kantale stood in front of the viewports with a man dressed in all white, both of them staring down at the planet through the transparisteel.

"I do thank you for allowing me to hitch a ride, the Silencer is still under repair after that damned battle in the Krant asteroid field." Travis said, a small smile apparent on his face. "No problem, Director." She said, returning the smile. Caalgen turned to leave the bridge, his hand brushing against her hip as he did so. The man then strode for the blast doors where two members of his death trooper attachment joined and began to walk behind him on his way to the hangar bay.

A Delta-class T-3c Shuttlecraft descended from the bay and dropped its sleek stabilizer 'wings'. The shuttle zoomed towards the surface at a slow pace as inside the co-pilot was attempting to make contact with the planet: "Setus Prime, this is the IRV Kestral, carrying the Imperial delegate; Requesting permission to land, over".

A ship nearby that was owned by the Narrikians, but kept dormant for just such purposes began to transmit gibberish at first, or at least what the Imperial Remmant would assume was Gibberish, as the ship transmitted a variety of out dated languages, including outdated Galactic Basic. Finally a video of a Narrikian who was clad in the most regal of robes was sent to the ship, and the Narrikian was speaking in Galactic Basic.

"Your war ship will remain where it is, and will be searched in return for permission. Should you be found carrying any "Class-C" Contraband, your Warship will immediately be blown up by Narrikians whose sole job it is to do exactly that. You may land if you accept such terms. Class C relates to anything that could be considered a "bio-weapon" or a "Disease weapon" or even a carrier of such."

The co-pilot made sure that the message was being voiced in the cabin as well, that way the director could hear it. "Oooh, I guess I better tell Captain Kantale to hide the canisters of Blackwing." Caalgen joked, a few of his death troopers let out a snicker or two as the squad leader shook his head in amusement. Travis gave his acknowledgement to the copilot who in turn began to relay this; "Narrikian Vessel, these terms are agreeable; Consent to search is given on safe landing, over." He said, nodding to the pilot who throttled the sublight engines up. A transmission was beamed up to the Harridan that would alert them of the situation and the impending search.

The Kestral would then proceed to land at the designated location, its landing ramp lowering and touching the ground with a small thud. Loud clangs indicated multiple pairs of boots walking down the ramp, and seconds later Director Caalgen surrounded by his squad of death troopers, six and all, appeared; they stopped at the bottom and waited for who would greet them.

"We are sending a squad to your vessel, to begin the check. Your shuttle will be quarantined until it has been checked as well." This was sent by the Narrikian vessel that slowly approached the Star Destroyer, squads of Narrikian soldiers on board checking their blasters, and their other weapons that they had at their disposal. Meanwhile when the shuttle had landed, and the Death Troopers approached, Sixteen Narrikians approached who were armed to the teeth, accompanied by a scientist with a medical scanner. The scientist began to approach and began to do the scans of the soldiers to see if they were going to infect anyone with any diseases.

The scientist said to them. "Should you pass my medical examination, you will be allowed to meet with the Emperor of the Narrikians." said the Scientist. The Narrikian Emperor Sirius Nova was in a different part of the building, getting dressed for his meeting. Sirius didn't want to meet his guests half-prepared after all.

The Harridan would offer no resistance to the Narrikians boarding it, though some of the turbolaser turrets would manuever until they were facing the general direction of the foreign vessel, the gunners behind the control consoles rather anxious over being suddenly boarded by an unknown force. Though a small detachment of the Empire's elite stormtroopers along with the vessel's first officer would be awaiting their 'guests' to accompany them along the inspection of the vessel.

Caalgen was scowling the whole time he and his entourage were being scanned. "I do not understand the need for such invasive scans for pathogens. The Imperial Remnant has some of the greatest medical equipment and protocols in the galaxy. Has an epidemic happened recently?" He queried, searching the eyes of the Narrikian scientist for answers as he was scanned.

"After the events of the Gulag Plague, the Narrikian Emperor and those who survived the virus decided that we would begin intense medical scans of any foreigners, and it was made into a law that faded into obscurity, but is more of an honored tradition now, more than anything else." The scans indicated nothing that was wrong with the Officer or the Death Troopers that were with him. The Scientist then said. "One other thing. Your weapons, and armor. I can't have you pull a sneak attack on the Emperor in case you are armed, and carrying concealed weapons."

On board the ship, the Narrikian Soldiers looked at the Elite Storm Troopers. "We'll be checking every area of the ship, even restricted sections for biological, or chemical or disease or technological pathogens, to make sure your ship wouldn't cause any problems, or be capable of launching weaponized diseases, or such at worlds."

Sirius had finished dressing up, and was ready.

The expression on Caalgen's face softened slightly as he was told of this, the galaxy as a whole had been affected by the Gulag Plague. The director himself hadn't dared look for a sample, deeming it much more dangerous than even the Blackwing Virus. "Very well, you may take our weapons but not the armor of my bodyguards; how am I to know that you will not attempt to endanger my life or the lives of my men?" He reasoned, casually drawing a DT-29 heavy blaster pistol from the confines of his cape and turning it over to the soldiers. His squad of death troopers did the same with their E-11Ds, SE-14rs, and C-25 fragmentation grenades.

The first officer and his detachment of stormtroopers would allow the soldiers to conduct their search uninterrupted, but under their careful eye. The Imperials had nothing to hide, but they were always wary of having soldiers other than their own on board their ship.

Jaegis Volasses

IR Captain of the 705th Company
First Officer Volasses and his detachment watched the Narrikian's carefully as they poked and prodded around their lander.

The Echani Officer stood tall, his arms behind his back as he watched the natives board and search through their compartments and hidden crevices within. He too had handed over his blaster pistol, for use of such a weapon was useless to him. While they may have thought him unarmed, they had no idea of his skill in hand-to-hand combat.

Though a situation where such combat was necessary was not present, and any form of hostility at present could jeopardize their mission to Panacea.

Jaegis turned his eyes to those of his Commanding Officer, Director Caalgen, and lowered his gaze before those of the Director's caught his.

His duty on the planet was to ensure the safety of Caalgen, though his squadron of Death Troopers would be a first line of defense. But in the occasion that something did happen, it was on Jaegis' head first.

He righted his uniform and stood by, watching in silence.

The scientist nodded, at one of the soldiers who took the weapons from him and loaded them into a locked crate which was then put on a hover platform, and pushed back into the shuttle of the Imperial Remnant that had come to the planet. The blaster pistol was taken out, and examined. Some chattering was done in Narrikian, before the scientist offered the Heavy Blaster Pistol back to Caalgen. "You may keep your blaster pistol, as the Emperor will be armed anyway, with a sword capable of deflecting blaster bolts, or with his axe. Quake will lead you to the Emperor now that you have been properly processed, and analyzed. But I must know, does your government produce biological terror agents, or technological viruses of any kind? If so, we insist that you supply us the antidotes to such so that we can be prepared for any such events in the future." The Narrikians were a paranoid bunch when it came to diseases, biological weapons, and anything of that nature. They had a large Fortress that was their CDC essentially but on steroids, should such a place be needed for them to store diseases, and their antidotes.

"Cosmo will lead you to the Emperor now. Your ship checks out by the way. " Cosmo, a soldier towards the back in robes approached. He had a lightsaber belted at his waist. He was not wearing armor, but lightweight robes that could function as armor. He was wearing as little as possible of the robes, and had a Light Axe similar to Imperial Right sheathed on his back. "Follow me, Ya?" asked Cosmo, beginning to lead them towards their destination.

Upon finding nothing, the Narrikian Soldiers radioed the Emperor directly from the Star Destroyer by patching it through their ship. An hour later, the Narrikian Soldiers were all off of the Star Destroyer but had examined every last room, and listed every weapon, piece of armor and everything else that could be of use combat wise. In addition they'd also taken pictures of the controls, and inner workings of many systems of the Star Destroyer. Once they were on board their own ship, they sent the list to a couple of technicians who worked for Sirius.

Travis holstered his pistol again, a small look of uncomfort flashing across his face for a split second. When the scientist asked about the biological weapons of the Imperial Remnant, Caalgen raised his eyebrow; "I am afraid I am not at liberty to divulge that at this moment, I'd rather tell the Emperor himself." He stated, matter-of-factly. He allowed him and his escort of death troopers to be led to where they were to be meeting the leader of the world.

The first officer of the Harridan went onto the bridge to inform the captain of the situation, a slight tone of annoyance in his voice. "What do you mean they took pictures of our systems? Contraband is one thing, but this is espionage!" She barked, rushing past her officer to get to a comm station. "Narrikian vessel, be advised; Acquirement of Imperial technology without sanction is punishable by destruction. You were to search for biological agents, not sift through our computers." The captain growled.

A transmission was sent back.

"We told you Class C, and that includes infectious technology. Since we overheard something about "Black Wing Virus" we were ordered by the CDC to commence evaluation of your systems, in case such would be stored in there. We were given the orders by the CDC, and when it comes to such things the CDC has authority to even override the Emperor in such matters."

Once the Imperials had arrived, they could see a large number of Narrikians clad in dark blue Gis with moon symbols swinging wooden swords at his instruction.

"Fa!" They'd swing their swords in an upper slash. "Sat!" Sirius said, and they'd perform a lower slash. "Chort!" They'd perform a stabbing motion with the sword. "Resa!" The Narrikians lowered their wooden swords, and bowed before Sirius who was clad in regal looking robes.

"So what brings you to my world?" asked Sirius. Sirius was clad in white robes, with gold trim on them.

Caalgen's stoic expression remained, even as the emperor came up to the man. He cleared his throat "The Grand Moff of the Imperial Remnant, has asked me to inform you that you have been invited to become a protectorate of the Remnant; You will remain in control of your star system but you will be under the protection of us, if you so choose to join us." He stated, looking directly into the eyes of the man.

So far the trip had done nothing but irritate the director, these people were more invasive and overreaching than an Imperial strip-search. Travis so far had not seen any use of the planetary empire, other than as a nuisance that the Moff Council insisted would make a great asset far outside of Imperial Space.

"I shall on behalf of my people accept your offer, Mr.Caalgen. " said Sirius Nova. Truthfully Sirius was not sure about accepting the offer, but if the need arose he could always have the Narrikians cast the Imperial Remnant out of their system, once they built their own fleet and military up to acceptable levels. For that reason, he'd play by the rules of the Imperial Remnant, and see what they were like from experience. Sirius was being trusting, well more trusting than he'd normally be anyway.
