Paddy Brawl [Training, Dusaro/Doug/Anora]

Each one stepped into the training chambers aboard the Exis Station. Each had been told that they would be sparring Padawans in order to test their abilities and train in sparring people of differing fighting styles. They would find their Master, in meditation at the center of the room, legs crossed. But the interesting thing would be the man beside him, also presumably in meditation. [member="Rylan Thatcher"] otherwise known as Gherron Vael, Josh's former Padawan who had graduated to Knighthood quite some time ago. And the first of Josh's to pass the Jedi Trials instead of being handed it on a silver platter.

Josh would wait for them to approach, before opening his eyes and turning to meet them.

Gherron sat next to his old master and friend as they both delved into the force, a calming feeling settling over him. It was one thing to simply be in meditation, but to do so with another as close to him as Josh was, he felt a string of hope coming from their connection and the man himself. Hope that things could get better with time. That soon, he could be himself again and return to Nefertari, make her his wife so they could live together in peace. He waited with the elder Jedi because he was told he'd be meeting three of his new pupils. Gherron smiled for a moment as an image of himself as a padawan skipped through his mind. He'd been a rough one, but in the end, Josh had put in the work and made him the man he was today. Well, mostly. Now, he was taking on a new generation of padawans. Maybe Gherron could put some of his own insight to their training. Or perhaps he'd leave it entirely to Josh. Either way, he prepared himself for the arrival of the new students.

Douglas Starwind

Head of Fire, Heart of Gold
The day had come at last it would seem. Before Douglas Starwind had been dismissed from the previous training session with his Master, the Jedi [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"], he had been informed that he was not the only Padawan and that there were others. He was told that there would be another sparring match against them, which was supposedly so he could get a feel for different styles of combat and hone his own developing skills further.

The fiery haired youth would walk slowly into the training chambers, almost keeping an eye on his movements to ensure his posture was not slouching. It would be another awkward introduction to hear a remark about it again. Once he was in the room, he saw his Master sitting in the center with his legs crossed as he always seemed to be, but next to him was an unfamiliar face sitting in a similar fashion. It was an awfully serene sight to behold, but his arrival and the impending ones from others would make them stop for the time being.

Doug would stand with his arms at his side with a straight posture, waiting for these others to show up and so they could begin with this session. There'd probably be more information to hear as well.

Dusaro lightly stepped inside the training room, his left hand scraching a spot in his two-toned blonde-silver hair and golden skin as he did a detailed look aorund the room and the people inside. He recognised Joshua his master of course, but the man beside him he did not recognise. The red headed youth was also such a mystery, though he figured that he was a Padawn like Dusaro himself was. Probably.

After this quick look around Dusaro walked forward up to the left side of where Douglas had stopped, assuming a relaxed at ease kind of postion himself. He raised his gloved right hand in a simple form of silent greeting, doing a short little nod to Douglas as he did so. After that he turned his attention to his master and the other unknown person who were both incredibly relaxed. Too relaxed for his personal taste. Not that it matterd right now regardless, so he put the thought side and kept his ears out for the next person to come in. Who would this person be? Consideing the size of the galaxy, there were many possiblities. But he kept a cap on his curiosity for the moment at least and waited in silence.

It was one thing to be summonsed to the training chambers; that in and of itself was to be expected. But it was another thing entirely to step within them and know that you were not going to be the only person there for a particular lesson. Coming to terms with there being more than just herself training beneath the same master Jedi had been easy. Anora was hardly petty, and she certainly wasn't in dire need of nor a hog of attention. In fact, the idea of a session that wasn't one on one was kind of exciting the brunette - and yet made her nervous at the same time. And none of this helped to quell her curiosity as to just who these other Padawans were.

So when she stepped into the room and caught sight of the others, her steps slowed unconsciously as she took them all in. Almost immediately she noted that there was an abundance of testosterone in the room, and the fact made her exhale heavily through her nose. Yet she stepped up to line up beside the other two Padawans and her focus shifted to their master, and then to the stranger near him briefly before she trained her gaze back to where it was supposed to be.

Well, it wasn't his fault, Anora, that his other female students couldn't handle the pressure and bailed. If the men were the majority who stuck around, the men were the majority who stuck around. Nothing he could do about that except continue teaching his remaining pupils as normal. As well, speaking of remaining pupils, [member="Seskel Sangrey"] was a new Padawan that was also in the room. While he did not yet have the experience to participate in the group stars, Josh felt that observing would be good for him, let him get a feel for lightsaber combat through watching closely before Josh would teach him himself.

As the group filed in, he would rise to his feet slowly, before turning to meet them, knowing Gherron would do the same.

"You have all been called here to meet your fellow pupils under my tutelage. Get to know each other well. You will be working together quite often" He would speak as he paced the room, walking past each of the pupils. "Behind me is a man who you should seek to be like. Gherron Vael, Jedi Knight, and my former Padawan. He will be helping you with your training today" He would explain, motioning toward "Rylan".

"You will each spar one another at the same time, at different corners of the room. Learn your opponents style and get the advantage, without disrupting the fights of the others. Learn to contain your battles. This will be useful on missions when you need to keep your combat away from innocents. Contain. CONTAIN! That is a key factor here. Containment. That will be your lesson today to shoot for. You will be paired up, and eventually, you will be switched with no warning with a new opponent. This is to prepare you for multiple opponents, as well as for taking on people of different fighting styles and adjusting quickly. Gherron will also be participating. He will allow you to learn to adjust to opponents of different skill levels, seeing as he is a level above you in rank, and in skill. A Jedi must adjust and adapt quickly. That is your second lesson that you must try to follow today. Adapt, and overcome."

Josh would look at each student for a moment before starting to point fingers. "Starwind, with Anora. Dusaro? You're with Gherron" He spoke, as he would take objects from the rack that resembled lightsabers, but weren't the training sabers from before. "Learn to use these. They aren't precisely like lighsabers, they're more blunt weapons. But you will each be using them in your upcoming missions, since a training saber is impractical in actual combat. It's close enough to a lightsaber that it will help you learn to use one, while also conducting missions without killing yourself with a useless weapon. It's a bit of an adjustment, but... Well, the second lesson -is- adapting, after all."

Josh would step back and allow for each of the students to find places in the room to spar. He would then raise a hand, as he nodded toward Seskel to indicate for him to watch closely.

"BEGIN!"

Seskel stands next to Josh, observing the others as they walked about the floor. A smile creeps across his face as he does this, for he really enjoys the ways of the Force. And now he was going to witness a sparring match. He sighs and puts his hands behind his back, keeping perfectly still, ready to watch the event unfold.

Gherron would proceed to get up and stand beside Josh, staying silent while he spoke to the padawans. Though he was ready to help them become better as Jedi, each word Josh spoke mentally stung him in a way. He wasn't this high-up-and-noble person he seemed to be portraying him as. In a lot of ways, Gherron felt he wasn't the right person to help train those so new to the force. What if he left a bad seed in them by his actions? Taking a deep breath, he tried to keep his emotions under control as Josh stressed the need to contain, something that Gherron himself hadn't exactly learned if his last few actual fights were anything to judge by. Maybe this could be a learning endeavor for himself as well. It had also been a while since he'd had some sort of comradery with anyone, let alone other Jedi. Taking one of the weapons, he activated and turned it over in hia hand a few times. Looking at the subsitute for a lightsaber, it made him long for the weapon of the Jedi, if only for a moment, but then he steeled himself. He didn't have the right to wield one. At least, that's what he told himself. Activating the weapon, he walked over to square himself with his opponent, [member="Dusaro"] . Raising his blade in a modified shii-cho stance, he waited for the padawan to ready himself. He figured he'd start off easy, then after the Jedi had a good grasp, he would amp it up and switch to Vapaad.

Dusaro readied himself as he walked over into their little corner of the room for sparring, squaring off againts [member="Rylan Thatcher"] with around two steps between them. He did a short Echani styled sparring bow before Joshua said start. Though the action probably didn't mean much to his sparring partner, for himself it was something of a cultural inheretence. To get into an open, inquisitive mind. To try and think about everything that happend in the course of the fight to try and understand it. Such were the thoughts and mentality as he activated the training saber, giving it a few short and simple swings, the blade making a lazy 'vrrumm' as it moved about. He nodded in satisfaction that he was ready and heard Joshua declared the match to begin, holding his lightsaber in his left hand with his right at his side for the moment.

Dusaro got the feeling that the stance was some kind of Form-1 stance, but he couldn't tell exactly what it was. He didn't let that keep him from making the first move however. Training was to train, and even if he made a mistake in attacking first that would just become a lesson in and of itself.

Not wasting time after Joshua had declared the matches started, Dusaro took two short steps forward and swung in a wide, qucik arc at his opponent, a horizontal slash directly at his side. A simple and basic deliberate, Shii-cho styled move. Dusaro's movements were rough, his lightsaber swung just slightly faster then he himself stepped forward, making it easier to throw him off balance with a well timed counter. The opening move also lacked finess, though such was to be expected of a person who was new with a lightsaber.

Douglas Starwind

Head of Fire, Heart of Gold
Doug listened as Josh explained the rules of the sparring match. It looked like he was going to be facing off against the female Anora and that he would be facing either Dusaro or the more seasoned Gherron later on into his session.

He had taken one of the unnamed lightsaber-like weapons and walked into another corner of the room a reasonable distance away from where Dusaro and Gherron had gone given how one of the objectives was that they had to keep the spars separate, or CONTAINED as their master put it. He looked down at the weapon and activated it, the familiar hum echoing through the air. He waved it around a little before he got into his still-provisional fighting stance, grasping the hilt with both hands by his side.

He was not too overly familiar with the different Forms of lightsaber combat yet, but maybe Anora would utilize her lightsaber in a different fashion compared to him or even what their master had demonstrated. He proceeded to wait for Anora to come on over so that they could begin their own little spar.

Watching his opponent's eyes, Gherron knew he could discern anything he even thought about doing. It was something he'd learned a while back, that just by looking at a person's eyes and upper body, they could be read as easily as any book. So, when the man stepped forward and swung wide, Gherron stepped to the side a foot or two, just enough to allow him to reach out and grab the padawan's arm and throw him in the direction of his swing. Being in his shii-cho stance, he could just as easily have parried the attack and sent off one of his own, but he wanted to show a little lesson to the other. "Never rush in unless you know what you're dealing with." To further demonstrate his point, he closed the gap between them and sent a diagonal slash downward toward the shoulder, hoping to catch the student off guard. Josh could get on him about being too hard if he wanted, however, Gherron was asked to train combat, and he would do so. As the master had said himself, the padawans had to learn what it was like to face opponents stronger and faster.

[member="Dusaro"]

Dusaro was not very suprised by his opponents bold move to go in for the grab, even as he was thrown in the direction of his swing. He could feel his former training screaming at him that an attack would be coming. Feeling his instincts tell him so, he threw his body in a sideways tumble, the same direction he had been thrown in by his opponent. Gherron's blade hissed in a menacing way as the swing passed through the air where his shoulder was a moment before, knicking his shoulder blade with the tip. His opponent throwing him to the right gave Dusaro just the speed he needed for the hairs breath dodge. A previous training lesson where Joshua had also pulled something similar helped his instincts to be ready.

But now Dusaro found himself in quite possibly a worse situation, tumbling sideways in a not so graceful manner. How could he make use of this moment? His instincts told him another attack would come, his mind racing for a quick reaction he could pull off. Dusaro rememberd an attack he had used before on Joshua, making an slash at one side, then snapping his wrist around to attack the other side to try and suprise him. He also rememberd how it was blocked with ease. Dusaro wouldn't prevail in this meeting his opponent head on with a lightsaber. An alternative solution was needed. And he found his awnser with just a moments thought.

Dusaro planted his right hand in the ground to stop his tumble partway through, only a few short moments after the blade had just hissed past his shoulder. He shifted his head around, getting sight of his opponent, before lashing out with a leg at his Gherrons closest leg. Below the knee and above the ankle, between those areas was where the fast and hard kick was aimed, aimed to stagger or trip his opponent off his feet. If he couldn't win a lightsaber fight, he would make it a brawl. Though it was entierly possible his opponent was also skilled in such things, it would be more even terrain for Dusaro then the lightsaber match where he would be completely outclassed.

[member="Rylan Thatcher"]

Gherron watched in approval as the padawan used his surroundings to his advantage, then stopped his tumble as quickly as he did. It was good to see Joshua's training was still as crisp as it had been when he himself was a padawan. As soon as his blade had sliced the air where a shoulder had been just seconds earlier, he followed up with a quick uppercut, moving to bring the blade back up just as quickly as he had thrust it downward. However, he failed to realize that his opponent had resolved to using more practical methods of fighting, lashing his leg out. Gherron ran into it, stifling a yelp as the force of his own body almost twisted his ankle. Instead of falling outright however, he mimicked the padawan somewhat and hit the ground in a roll, coming back on his feet, with his back to the other. Leaving no room for thought or quarter, he spread out his good leg and let it sweep over the area behind him, aiming to trip up the younger man. It had been some time since he'd been in a scrap, but the simple maneuver brought him back to his padawan days, when he would continue to pick out fights with the toughies just to see if he could win. Often times he didn't, but he did always learn something new... Upon completing his leg sweep, Gherron would turn around and slash downward with his blade, but leaving one hand free to steady himself for whatever counter was coming.

Hearing the rules of the spar explained caused Anora to turn her had and look at the others briefly. Her lips pursed for a moment, but she nodded her head and made her way towards the side of the room she and Doug were assigned to. The weapons they were meant to use earned a faint noise from the brunette, and she turned it about in her hand for a moment to get a feel for it before her gaze lifted to find Doug across from her.

He wasn't the only one who didn't have a whole lot of lightsaber form knowledge, and worse than that? Her footwork was still pretty crappy. But, at least she could defend herself and present a challenge with her weapon work - hopefully.

With a deep steadying breath she readied her weapon, shifted into a comfortable stance, and then narrowed her gaze ever so slightly before making a vague gesture at her partner to come at her.

Doug had been standing there in his stance and it felt like everything was slowing down. It looked as if he would have the first strike and he figured he would keep things a little simple to start with. It would help him get more of a grasp on his opponent to do a little scoping out.

He took a small step forward, keeping an eye on how Anora was standing, and then swung the blade at her in a downward diagonal fashion. It wasn't anything fancy and probably would be countered easily, but it was to give him more of an idea of what to do as this session progressed. He would save any bigger guns he might have for later.

[member="Anora Vahn"]

Dusaro belt a bit of a thrill rush through him as he heard Gherron hit the ground and start to roll. He started to turn and get up himself with a feirce grin on his face, almost like a feral looking grin. Joshua would recognize the look as one of those species things Dusaro had mentioned before. Something that a Jedi should probably work to get rid of, though considering how deeply it was ingrained in his person it wouldn't be easy.

He continued to start pushing himself up when the kick came in from behind him, catching his right foot as he was about to put wieght on it. Dusaro stumbled forward as he was forced to push his hands out infront to keep him from planting his face in the ground, his arms taking the shock of the sudden and quick fall well. At this point, he decided to change things up again. Attempting another kick at this point wouldn't be easy with how his body was layed out face down and he couldn't very well make a punch. So Dusaro took a delaying action against any incoming attacks, rolling to the side and making a quick slash out with his lightsaber at his opponent.

It made a screeching noise of protest as he dragged the tip of the blade momentarily against the floor of the training room, before it was replaced by the hiss of a lightsaber mid swing, arcing through the air in a fast cut at Gherron. What suprised him was when he suddenly felt his own blade clash with the Jedi Knights, still holding his lightsaber in his left hand. Dusaro's swing had more speed then momentum behind it, so his blade was pushed closer to himself by his opponent. Had it been in two hands, Dusaro might have been disarmed outright. His instincts flared up for a moment as he pushed back against his opponent blade from the ground, lashing out with a hard and compact punch aimed at his opponents stomache from his free right hand. Desperate times called for desperate measures, and with Dusaro on his back and his opponent bearing down on him with a lightsaber, it was certainly desperate. Dusaro was starting loose his grip on his lightsaber hilt and he needed the punch to make him let up for even a moment if he was going to keep a hand on it.

Though at this point in the match, it was likely Dusaro was going to loose regardless. But as had become apparent, he didn't plan to quit just from that alone.

(Leaving it completely up to you if Dusaro gets disarmed or not)

"Stop."

Josh would clap his hands once to indicate the end of the sparring session. He was satisfied with what he had seen, and decided that he had seen enough. It definitely had nothing to do with the writer growing tired of people lagging and making their partners wait over and over again. No, not at all. But Josh had at least seen where each Padawan was in the realm of combat, and that gave him a better idea of where to go from there.

"I think that's enough. We'll end the session for today. But I'd like to make an announcement here and now. The three of you, Doug, Dusaro, Anora. You will be undergoing your first mission as Jedi Padawans soon. The kicker is... It will be all three of you in the same mission" Josh would reveal. "The reason I gave you those practical weapons is so you can practice with them and use them for missions until you are ready to wield a real lightsaber. Of course, I will be accompanying you on this mission, but that may not be the case for future ones. Now that you've had a chance to see what your fellow students can do... Now you need to learn to work together."

He looked toward Gherron and smiled. "Thank you for giving them a lesson, Gherron" He would praise, before looking toward [member="Seskel Sangrey"].

"Seskel, you'll report to the training room tomorrow for your first sparring session with me. As for the rest of you, I'd best prepare for the mission ahead. This is no training regiment, this will be the real thing. Be prepared."
