- Combat Function: The Paddox House Guard act as heavy infantry in combat, using their good marksmanship to weaken enemies from a distance before closing in to use their power armor's strength and melee weapons to physically overpower many opponents in close combat. While a somewhat simplistic strategy, it matches the preferences of the stoic leaders of the Guard, who prefer well-choreographed and planned battle drills performed by cohesive groups over individual heroics. Teamwork and coordinated movements among different echoleons of formations is highly emphasized and focused upon. At the lowest levels, squads are typically broken into two fire teams, which following Directorate conventions, are labelled as Aurek and Besh. Aurek typically acts as anchoring element, setting up a defensive position centered around the heavy gunner and his portable shield generator, which then provides supporting or suppressing fire to Fire Team Besh. Fire Team Besh then acts as the maneuvering element which can outflank opponents or seize positions. If Besh moves successfully, it too can set up an almost mini-strong point centered around a blaster cannon and portable shield and the teams can then switch place. There is minor difference in the Fire teams in that Aurek incorporates a chemical warfare specialist, who can provide a wide array of unusual and heavy hitting attacks, whereas Besh's close quarters combat specialist is excellent at slowing down enemy troops and dealing potent close range attacks. Typically, the squad leader moves between the two teams and directs the L4 Auxillia Battle Droid to provide firepower through its onboard grenade launcher to deal with serious threats. Almost all weapons employed by soldiers of the House Guard have multiple settings or different payloads, which allows the Guards to almost seamlessly adapt to fighting different foes or changing situations. As example of this, riflemen can easily switch out their galven coils on their Flashfire blaster rifles to turn them into shotguns for fighting in the cramped confines of a starship or long-range precision rifles for fighting on the open plains of an agricultural world. The Guard's adaptability and teamwork make them prized allies on the battlefield, and frustrating opposition for their opponents.
- Force Abilities (Force User Units Only): N/A
- Power Armored: Since the House Guard is entirely equipped in power armor, all soldiers have increased physical strength and endurance, onboard medical support, enhanced perception, and built-in melee weapons, which can give them an edge against many common opponents
- Fire Team Tactics: Troopers in the Paddox House Guard are well trained and drill in close quarter drills from a young age. Its soldiers fight well in small fire teams, where the group acts as a cohesive whole rather than a motley collection of individuals. Combat formations and contingency plans are well-rehearsed at the squad level, allowing House Guards soldiers to move seamlessly as a group to surge forward and back and use weapons in a highly coordinated fashion in which the sum is greater than their individual parts. This allows House Guards to make short, methodical work of many of their opponents with a minimum of risk to the individual trooper.
- Sharpshooters: Troopers in the Paddox House Guard pride themselves in excellent marksmanship. Sport shooting competitions are frequent within the Guard, and social status is linked to the results of these contests. Consequently, while they may not be the most imaginative combatants, they are quite precise.
- Phlegmatic: The Paddox House Guard is staffed largely by nobility who have made soldiering career as much of their occupation as their noble positions. Consequently, while calm and professional, the soldiers in the House Guard are not very imaginative nor driven to accomplish daring feats at a high personal risk.
- Weak Weaponry (Anti-Vehicles): While the Paddox House Guard is well-equipped with weapons to take on a variety of men and creatures, they lack heavy ranged anti-vehicle firepower, which can make them susceptible to attacks from heavy vehicles such as tanks and walkers, especially in open country.
- Foot Sloggers: The Paddox House Guard is largely a foot-based formation, due to the Guard generally being broken up in small elements to guard facilities or protect certain nobles of the House. This means that they are often outmaneuvered or outran by more well-equipped or sophisticated foes.
The Paddox House Guard is the private military force of House Paddox, a powerful noble family in the Tempered Wastes. While House Paddox does operate a small number of warships and has a handful of fortresses, the bulk of its military might is in its House Guards. These well trained and equipped soldiers who not only guard the nobles of the house and its valuable assets, but they also act as the house's offensive reach - Paddox House Guards have stormed criminal outposts and even alien starships. The current iteration of the House Guard was heavily blooded in fighting Warlord Frill's incursion into House Paddox's holdings in the Tempered Wastes, which also brought them into contact with the Directorate and the Lucerne Labs consortium in particular. As a result of these experiences, much of the House Paddox Guard was retrained and reequipped in these battles by Lucerne Labs in particular, especially after Gir Quee married Cerienne Paddox, the leading lady of House Paddox. While some House Paddox Guard traditions remain strong within the guard, such as weekly shooting matches, the Paddox House Guard has made great strides in modernizing to the realities of the chaotic galaxy, as shown by adopting power armor and modular weapons from Lucerne Labs. While much of the Paddox House Guard remains in the local domain of House Paddox, a sizeable contingent of the Guard has taken to travelling with Dacian Quee-Paddox on the Stellar Endeavor.
