Padawan advancement

[member="Catherine Soja"]

Well, all I can say to that is you will find it difficult to locate a Knight or Master willing to focus solely on your character and only your character when there are so many Padawans. That will not change no matter the faction either. That is just the truth of the board. There are always more Padawan/Acolytes, etc than Knights/Masters.

All the FU factions that I know of have multiple Apprentice levels per Master level. The lowest ratio I've seen was in the Techno Union, but even there it is still a ratio of Apprentice to Master.

There might be another option if you want a Master to solely exist for your character, and that is to develop and submit an NPC to the Codex. I would recommend running the idea past the faction admins first as any and all advancement in any faction is up to them.

Training can happen in many ways, I have an ongoing thread where I just have Dair go through different things and practice. I have been part of threads that have died off. The thing to do is always keep going. If your Master hasn't posted to you for a while, PM them nicely and ask how things are going. Every Master I have had dealings with in this faction have been positive. Some have more time than others and sometimes things just happen.

All Masters are never taken, and it doesn't hurt to ask. Some who would train you, like myself, don't actively seek out Padawan. They instead let them come along and make that decision for themselves. That's what my character would do, anyway, so that's how I do it.

My Master, [member="Corvus Raaf"], is the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order and I knew going in she was going to be a busy person. Instead of blaming her or resting on my laurels for slow posting, which I don't, I moved on to help this character grow. Negativity and pointing the crooked and wavering finger of blame gets nothing solved.

I've PM other Padawans to do thread with me and got zero responses, minus one. Does it bother me, nope. Is it their loss, yep. I even posted in the Specific Training Requests and again, zero interest. Does it bother me, nope. Is it their loss, yep.

You need to remember people have busy lives outside the game and this site is not a set in stone for living. People try to accommodate people the best they can. Starting your own Jedi faction isn't a solution....it just shows your inability to understand. And what will you claim is the problem when it doesn't go according to plan?

I'm not trying to be a bish, but if nobody will else say it, I will. The world doesn't revolve around just one character here.

[member="Ciara Jevnaker"] Done both wasint lsow posting was NO posting. Also I;ve made trainign request threads never got answered. I can't make peolpe reply to me and blamign me cause others don't reply is silly. Right now trying to fill this progression form out but the trails I wodner if those can be subsitutited with events or such.

People, stop spamming. :p

Right, so Tionne is willing to take up padawans, since she has zero.
However, I do have a few requests for future students

1.I am not only interested in training, but also character development. Tionne would bond with her students for life.
2.I lean towards mission oriented RP. Temple threads are too routine for my taste. So, where Tionne goes, her students go as well.
3.Tionne is a Watchman, which falls into category of Sentinel. This means I can't teach you how to become a healer or master swordsman. If you want to be a Jedi Shadow, a mentalist or any other cross-class, I can help you.
4.I expect people playing my students to write deep, introspective posts. I need to enjoy reading us to be supermotivated to post.

If you comply with all above, I am willing to post regularly and you wouldn't need to wait for a reply for more than a couple of hours at most. Think about it.

Here's the deal.

Mara, one of my Wardens of the Sky, just hit Knight. The tag request should go through any time now. After over a decade of this, I hate training threads. I'm bad at them and I tend to forget about them, so I prefer to train my students on missions. Mara doesn't have a student yet, and taking a student is a bit different in the Warden tradition, but I'd be willing to train Catherine to Knight. If your character can survive learning from a younger person, and if you promise not to gripe if this doesn't work out, I'll start a training thread immediately.

EDIT: [member="Tionne Thanewulf"] 's post reminds me that I should probably list what this character is best at.

  • Instinctive astrogation/navigation, with piloting - insofar as Mara fits the Jedi cladistics, she'd be a Jedi Ace
  • Makashi
  • Warden of the Sky martial arts - involves deft short-range telekinesis and projected fighting
  • Empathy/mental defense
  • Starship-mechanic-related technopathy
