Owning a Slave...

Alexandra Feanor

The Lady in Silver/Grey Historian
She moved through the markets and vendors on the planet of Panatha, here for a second reason but still here to see this to the end in her endeavor. And what endeavor is that is simple, she was to buy a slave. She was curious as to the processes that went into the slave market and was in truth looking to free atleast one person from becoming a simple tool to be harmed when they failed. So with that in mind she came up to a stall and looked over the others there to look on at who was being shown now.

A huge burly man with a neck like a tree trunk stood on an elevated stage, standing next to an Ewok so binded with chains that he looked like a bundle of metal. "Who'll take two hundred credits for an Ewok in his prime?!" 'Two hundred!" A short fat dug screamed. 'Three hundred!' A Rodian yelled above the dug. Within five minutes of yelling, the Ewok was carried off to the Dug. "Bring up the foreign boy!" A moment later, two of the auctioneers asistants dragged up another slave, bound with chains along his wrists and ankles, and sagging. The Boy stumbled onto the stage, falling at the auctioneers feet. It was obvious he was having trouble even holding himself up, even without the chains that, to him, seemed like neuranium weights. The auctioneer grimanced in disgust at Bufu, before turning to the crowd. "Who will take 50 credits for this weakling?!"

She raised her head to the sound, her eyes scanning over the boy and finding something all too odd about him yet all too familiar too her. "500." She walked forward, clothes and weapon in plain sight and making sure that it was understood what kind of person she was... well was suppose to be, she wasn't some cruel sith looking to expand her collection of slaves, infact she had no slaves, but she had to put up an act if she was going to win. "Anyone going to speak up to me?" She looked around at them with a cold challenging stare as she waited for the seller to take what she offered or not, her eye cast on him and urging him to sell the boy. It only took a dozen seconds for that to be over and for her to wait on the side of the stand for Bufu to come, and once he was down his chains would shatter as Alexandra pulled them apart with the force. "Come on."

Bufu only stared around the plaza as the people spoke in languages he didn't understand, the man at his side yelling to the crowd. He didn't understand what was happening, he had no idea what was going on. The chains that wrapped around his ankles and wrists were heavy, but they werne't the main reason he seemed to be glued to the ground- the air itself seemed heavy. The gravity of... wherever he was. It was extremely high, much higher then he was used to. He could barely stand. So he practically laid on the stage, watching the group yelling to the man next to him. A group of... He didn't know. Some of them looked Binadaman. Others... didn't. He didn't know how to describe them. They were like the myths of Mnyamas that were so popular on Mwezi. Living creatures that werne't Binadamans, somehow. Something that lived, and breathed, and walked, but wasn't Binadaman. That lived beyond Mwezi. He, like most of his race, thought them to be myths. But there they were. Yelling at the man, a slaver he thought, and him yelling back.

After several more minutes of back and forth yelling, he saw a lady, she looked Binadaman, yell something in the strange language that they were all speaking. Everyone went quiet. Then, a few seconds later, the lady walked up to him... and he coudln't explain it. His chains. His chains just were ripped apart. Like someone incredibly strong, but invisible, just ripped them apart. And they lay in pieces around him. He stares at the bits of metal that lay around him, and then slowly glanced up to the lady, his mouth agape. She said something in that foreign language, but he couldn't understand it. So he just stared... He had no idea who this lady was, or how she could do what she just did, but she freed him.... Now what?

Alexandra watched him for a few seconds and the confused look on his face before realizing something all too clear to her. He couldn't understand her which now left her stumped as she stood there and looked on at the man for a few dozen seconds. "Ok lets try this again... You. Follow. Me." She made the movements with her hand to get him to follow, though she didnt move herself incase he didn't understand.

[member="Bufu Kompyuta"]

Bufu just blinked at her for a minute, watching her hand movements. She wanted him to... do something. Something to do with her? He wanted him to follow her! Bufu frowned, finally understanding what she wanted, before glancing over to the crowd of onlookers. At least this lady looked Binadaman, he'd rather have to go with a Binadaman stranger then with... one of those green things with giant eyes. So Bufu quickly complied. Or tried to. It seemed he was barely able to stand up, and when he did he was as shaky as a toddler trying to walk for the first time. But he managed it, and stumbled over to where [member="Alexandra Cinthra"] stood, and literally fell at her feet. It was like the very planet tried to pull him down. He wasn't used to this kind of gravity, and that was fairly apperant in the way he walked. He slowly pushed himself back to his feet, glancing up at the lady who had just bought him. He had a barrage of questions, but he knew they wouldn't be awnsered, he knew she couldn't understand a word he said, but he spoke nontheless;

"Wewe ni nani? N- ni nini? Ambapo mimi ni ?!"

"Right, of course it doesn't speak basic." She kept walking till they were in a more private area and then turned to look at him before pulling out a datapad and powering it up. "Eve, i want you to run translation routines, if the language he speaks is on record have it translated the moment it is spoken, is that understood." The AI nodded its head before disappearing and running the said routines while Alexandra's silver eyes fell on the man and she pointed to her mouth and moved it, wanting him to repeat himself.

[member="Bufu Kompyuta"]

Bufu stumbled after the lady, managing to walk only barely with the planet's gravity. He had no idea who she was, but she looked the least threatening of all of the... things... here. And he almost fell on his backside when he saw a flickering image appear out of the lady's little screen. They spoke to eachother for a few moemnts, the lady and the image, while Bufu stared. What the ku was that?! And then she spoke again. He had no idea what she was saying, or trying to. How was he supposed to understand her? She wasn't even speaking Lugha! It seemed like she wanted him to repeat himself, though... so, having no other better ideas, he did.

"Wewe ni nani?"

Sadly, her translation program didn't work out as planned. Lugha was a language spoken exclusively on Mwezi, a moon in the unknown regions that had never been colonized or sucesfully explored by the greater galaxy. No one even really knew it existed, let alone knew the language. Bufu just frowned at the lady, wondering what the heck was going on. She seemed nice enough. Maybe she'd take him away from this... this nightmare. Take him back to Mwezi. He could only hope.

"Hmm lets see..." She paused for a few seconds before smiling and pointing to herself before speaking. "Alexandra." She left her hand and pointed at Bufu, letting it rest there as she said one more word. "Name?" She waited for him to try and figure out what it was she was attempting to get across, he seemed smart and now just how smart was for time and his response to tell.

Bufu blinked at the lady, then glanced down at her hand, before looking back up to her. A-lex-an-dra? He had no idea what that meant... He blinked at her again, before finally putting two and two together. It was her name! A-lex-an-dra... What a strange name. Now she was pointing at him, and speaking in that language again... His name! She wanted his name! Bufu nodded rapidly, before poitning to himself much like [member="Alexandra Cinthra"] had done.

"Bufu. Ni Al-lex-an-dra jina lako? Je, wewe ni kuuliza wangu?"

He frowned. He knew she couldn't understand him, and he coudln't understand her. But it dind't hurt to try... They had to communicate somehow. Maybe he could figure out how to tell her... Tell her that he's not from here. She could get him back. Get him back to Mwezi. Maybe she had a spaceship... like the one that brought him here. He just had to get her to understand- just had to figure out how to ask her...

He pointed to himself. "Mimi si kutoka hapa." Then he pointed to the area around him. "Ampapo mimi ni nini?"

He had to get her to understand. Somehow.

(Glad you agree, I'm having fun with this as well. :p)

"Slower... uh lets see...." She looked around as he had pointed at the area and thought he had said where they were maybe, or hes saying he didn't belong here... hmm how translation sucked. "Panatha. This is Panatha." She pointed around them too as she took a seat on a bench, waving to the seat beside her as a gesture onto asking him to sit down instead of stand and wobble like a top when he stood. She wasn't sure what planet he was from, but he was either extremely tired or just plain unuse to the environment of the planet which made her wonder about the man a small bit but it was not important at the time.

Bufu frowned again as the lady spoke. Pan-ath-a? What the heck was that? Bufu just continued to stare at her, before she finally pointed to the ground. He was only to happy to oblige. He practically fell to the ground, quickly dropping int o a sitting position. His legs hurt badly, just from stumbling and standing for the past half hour or so. The gravity of this planet was extremely taxing. Plus he was starving. He hadn't eaten since he left Mwezi... about twelve hours ago. Bufu continued to stare at the lady for a few moments, before trying again to speak to her- even though it was futile.

He had to figure out where he was. And how to get back to Mwezi. He didn't understand, of course, that when she said 'Panatha' she was referring to where they were... "Ambapo Mimi ni nani?"

"I meant sit on the bench... ugh." She muttered to herself as she rested her hand under her chin as she spoke again. "Panatha." She pointed at the ground and then around them again, trying to get him to understand that that was the name of the planet and not her simply rambling. With that said she then pointed at the spot beside her on the bench and made a gestur akin to asking him to sit up here rather than on the ground.

[member="Bufu Kompyuta"]

Bufu frowned, and glanced around where she was pointing. The ground was Pan-ath-a? No.. The planet! The planet was called Panatha! After coming to that realization Bufu glanced up at the lady, seeing her point to the bench. Oh... right. He slowly pushed himself to his feet, looking as if it was a great effort to lift himself, before pulling himself onto the bench. He stared at [member="Alexandra Cinthra"] for another few seconds. His mind was filling with questions. Who was she? Why was he here? How could he get back home? He asked the latter.

"Je, mimi kupata nyuma? Nyuma ya Mwezi?"

Alexandra Feanor

The Lady in Silver/Grey Historian
She focused on his words and assumed Je was akin to the word 'I'. Next she focused on the last word, it held a level of familiarity with him and she had heard him say it a few times now as she spoke now to him. "What is Mwezi?" She knew he wouldn't understand the words what is, but she expected him to be able to deduce it from mentioning the same word back to him, if this failed she had a few more ideas.

[member="Bufu Kompyuta"]

(Actually Mimi is I. :p)

He smiled slightly when she mentioned his homeworld. At least she knew what it was! Or so he thought. He didn't know what the other two words she said was, but he certainly reconized his own home moon. And if she knew what Mwezi was... maybe she knew where it was! Which meant she could take him back! A smile stayed on Bufu's face for the first time since [member="Alexandra Cinthra"] had met him.

"Unajua Mwezi! Jinsi mbali sa sisi kutoka humo?"

Alexandra Feanor

The Lady in Silver/Grey Historian
"Uh right..." She thought for a few moments before pointing at herself, and saying. "Alexandra, Cinthra." she then moved her hand to point at him and spoke once more. "Bufu Mwezi?" She turned her head slightly as she tried to see if Mwezi was perhaps his surname or not, this was going to be a very slow day for sure if anything it was going to make things very difficult for her to understand without screwing up in places.

[member="Bufu Kompyuta"]

... He already knew her name was Al-ex-an-dra. If she was asking him 'Bufu Mwezi'... And he was from Mwezi... She was from from planet called Cin-thra! Bufu nodded several times. Yes, he was from Mwezi! Now if she would only tell him how he could get back to their... If somebody who knew both languages listened in on this conversation, it would have been comical.

"Sasa jinsi gani mimi kupata kwa Mwezi?"

[member="Alexandra Cinthra"]

"Hmm so your full name is Bufu Mwezi, lets see if i can find out where you came from..." She thought for a moment and pointed at the planet again, saying its name. "Panatha." She pointed to herself and then to the planet. "We are on Panatha." She thought for a few more seconds and pointed at him and frowned as she thought for a moment. "You are from?" She crossed her hands on her lap and tried to figure out how to communicate more effectively.

[member="Bufu Kompyuta"]

Bufu frowned, yet again. If he kept this up he'd get lines in his forehead deeper then a canyon on Tatooine. Yes... he knew they were on Panatha... then she pointed to him. What? What was she asking... How he got there, prehaps? Thats was the only thing he could think of... So that's what he responded to. He did wonder why she'd ask that, above everything else, though...

Sadness showed in Bufu's expression as he spoke to [member="Alexandra Cinthra"].

"Watu... kushambuliwa kwangu, na mimi na baba yangu, na... wao kuletwa kwangu hapa..."
