"Hot Shot" Blaster Gas Module
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a series of interesting modifications for blasters, this one focused on cracking armor.
  • Canon Link: Sig and Eleton
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Sig and Eleton
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: OutlawTech
  • Affiliation: OutlawTech and its customers
  • Market Status: Open-Market
  • Model: "Hot Shot" Module
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Sig, Eleton, Dallorian Alloy, Manganese-Plastoid Composite, Diatium, Neuranium, Electronics
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Module infuses a mixture of Sig and Eleton gas into blasters to increase damage and armor penetration.
  • Can be toggled on and off.
  • Compatible with most blaster models and easily concealed in blaster housing.
    • Note: not compatible with other modifications that change blaster gas mixture.
  • Module design blocks sensor scans to prevent it from being detected.
STRENGTHS
  • Packing Heat: The Hot Shot module uses a mix of powerful blaster gases to greatly increase the damage and physical armor penetration of each shot without having to load special ammunition or other components.
  • Hidden Heat: The Hot Shot module uses scanner-resistant materials to make it virtually invisible on weapons scans and can be toggled off. This doesn't protect the rest of the weapon from scans, but it does prevent them from detecting the illegal infuser.
WEAKNESSES
  • Burnout Case: The extra heat and power created by the Hot Shot not only give the weapon increased kick, but also increase wear and tear on the mechanism unless using some serious heat-resistant materials.
  • Hot Commodity: Sig is illegal in nearly every civilized system in the galaxy due to its horrific potency, so if anyone catches you with this module installed you will be in a galaxy of trouble.
DESCRIPTION
Blaster mods don't get much more illegal than this. The "Hot Shot" blaster gas module from OutlawTech is a discrete modification designed to introduce a combination of Sig and Eleton gas into the Xciter chamber of a blaster before firing. Both gases are known for their ability to punch through physical armor, so combining the powerful but volatile Sig with the weak yet stable Eleton gives the best of both worlds. They do this by greatly increasing the heat and energy of blaster shots, helping them slag through physical armor and cause horrific damage to targets. Of course increasing the heat and power also increases the recoil and wear on the weapon, unless reinforced with heat-resistant materials like Dallorian alloy.

In addition to the gas itself the Hot Shot module is reinforced with scanner-resistant materials to keep it from being detected by weapon scans and can be toggled off, since Sig itself is also outlawed in most of the galaxy. This doesn't protect the rest of the weapon, or hide the horrific effects of the blasts, so its best not to be caught on the street using this module. Of course, if you are caught, having a Hot Shot on hand means you won't be going down quietly.

"Covert" Blaster Gas Module
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: OutlawTech
  • Affiliation: OutlawTech and its customers
  • Market Status: Open-Market
  • Model: "Covert" Module
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Tibana, Composite Gases, Dallorian Alloy, Manganese-Plastoid Composite, Diatium, Neuranium, Electronics
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Module uses a special blaster gas mixture to create blaster bolts that are invisible to the naked eye.
  • Can be toggled on and off.
  • Compatible with most blaster models and easily concealed in blaster housing.
    • Note: not compatible with other modifications that change blaster gas mixture.
  • Module design blocks sensor scans to prevent it from being detected.
STRENGTHS
  • Untraceable: The Covert module uses a special Tibana gas mixture to create blaster bolts that are completely invisible to the naked eye, perfect for stealthy attacks.
  • Undetectable: The Covert module uses scanner-resistant materials to make it virtually invisible on weapons scans and can be toggled off. This doesn't protect the rest of the weapon from scans, but it does prevent them from detecting the illegal infuser.
WEAKNESSES
  • Irresponsible: Due to the extra draw on gas and power, the Covert module effectively cuts a blaster's ammo capacity in half with no increase in performance whatsoever.
  • Unconscionable: The specific gas mixture used in the Covert module is illegal for fairly obvious reasons, and while invisible to the naked eye the bolts still leave other traces, like heat and sound. And corpses.
DESCRIPTION
A prime example of truly sinister blaster technology, the Covert module is a blaster modification designed to make blaster bolts invisible to the naked eye. It does this by infusing a special Tibana-based gas mixture into the Xciter chamber before firing, which doesn't burn in the visible light spectrum. This makes the covert ideal for stealth and assassination as the bolts are almost untraceable, and the module itself is shielded from weapon detectors by special anti-scanner materials and can be toggled off.

The trouble with the module is that it requires twice the power and gas per shot compared to a standard chamber, cutting a weapon's shot capacity in half without increasing the performance in any way. The bolts themselves still create sound and heat when fired which can still give the shooter away unless they use even more stealth attachments like a suppressor or heat baffler. Of course, the module itself is also highly illegal in most systems and extremely suspect in all others, but its pretty hard to get caught when your blaster fires invisible bolts.

"Sizzle" Blaster Gas Module
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a series of interesting modifications for blasters, this one focused on being poison-like.
  • Canon Link: Tolium and Cyphrite
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Tolium and Cyphrite
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: OutlawTech
  • Affiliation: OutlawTech and its customers
  • Market Status: Open-Market
  • Model: "Sizzle" Module
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Tolium, Cyphrite, Dallorian Alloy, Manganese-Plastoid Composite, Diatium, Neuranium, Electronics
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Module uses a mixture of Tolium and Cyphrite to create slow burning blaster bolts designed to deal more long-term damage.
  • Can be toggled on and off.
  • Compatible with most blaster models and easily concealed in blaster housing.
    • Note: not compatible with other modifications that change blaster gas mixture.
  • Module design blocks sensor scans to prevent it from being detected.
STRENGTHS
  • Burning Sensation: The Sizzle module creates blaster bolts that burn and linger on contact, similar to incendiary weapons, causing deeper and longer term damage than standard bolts.
  • Blending In: The Sizzle module uses scanner-resistant materials to make it virtually invisible on weapons scans and can be toggled off. This doesn't protect the rest of the weapon from scans, but it does prevent them from detecting the illegal infuser.
WEAKNESSES
  • All Sizzle, No Steak: The Sizzle module doesn't actually increase the overall energy of blaster bolts, in fact it distributes the energy, so against hardened defenses blaster bolts will have significantly less power and penetration.
  • Unconscionable: Due to the horrific nature of the injuries caused by the Sizzle module, it is illegal in most of the galaxy, and even in the less civilized corners is likely to get you judged for sheer cruelty.
DESCRIPTION
A top contender on the list of things-you-don't-want-to-get-hit-by, the Sizzle blaster module is a device designed to create special, slow burning blaster bolts. This works by combining Tolium and Cyphrite, which normally combine to create a powerful toxin, but when converted into a gas and electrically excited, creates unique plasma bolts that linger on anything they until they burn out after a few seconds. On exposed flesh or other vulnerable materials, this can create some truly deep and horrific wounds as the plasma eats through the impacted surface. At the same time this module doesn't increase the energy or heat of the shots, it only distributes them across a longer period, so against armor or other heat-resistant surfaces the damage is actually worse than regular blaster fire.

In order to hide this extremely illegal and suspect mod from prying eyes, the Sizzle module comes with scanner protection and a toggle mode to switch on and off. Of course this doesn't hide the surrounding weapon, and if anyone with honest (or vengeful) intentions catches you with this mod in your blaster, you'll be in serious trouble. But then again, considering what the Sizzle module can do to flesh, they might just decide to leave better off alone.

"Sun-Eater" Reactor
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: OutlawTech
  • Affiliation: Various, sold openly on the black market
  • Market Status: Open-Market
  • Model: "Sun-Eater"
  • Modularity: Yes, easily scalable, compatible, and adaptable to various systems
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Doonium, Dolovite, Durvalex, Neuranium, Condensed-Matter, Ostrine, Ultrachrome, Durateel, Electronics
SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Energetic, yet Efficient: The Sun-Eater is designed to provide increased power without using extra fuel, exotic hypermatter, or unstable technology, making it easier to pass for lower-grade civilian tech when tuned down.
  • Just Keeps Going and Going: Like most solar Ionization reactors, short of a total system collapse it is unlikely the star in the Sun-Eater's core will ever run out of power in the user's lifetime.
  • Adjustable Output: The Sun-Eater's power output is can be adjusted from low to high, and produces far more energy naturally than most reactors available on the open market.
WEAKNESSES
  • Get the Lead Pajamas: The reason the Sun-Eater uses so much high-end containment tech is because it creates far more heat and radiation than an average reactor, making it harder to contain or baffle, especially at the high-output end.
  • Critical Overload: While the Sun-Eater is designed to survive its own high output, at least in controlled conditions, this doesn't mean whatever it's plugged into will be able to handle the excess energy, particularly if something gets damaged.
  • Sun-Breaker: The trouble with using star lifting in a stellar ionization reactor is that there's a non-zero chance of destabilizing the miniature sun inside the reactor. Not good...
DESCRIPTION
The Sun-Eater reactor was originally based on several improvised designs of smugglers and pirates trying to increase the output of their stellar ionization reactors by forcing the miniature star inside to produce more plasma. Early attempts tended to be ramshackle and unstable, but pioneering from OutlawTech has led to a more stable and marketable version seen today. The Sun-Eater uses star-lifting technology to increase the plasma output from the miniature star in the reactor, superheating it with powerful lasers and drawing off excess plasma with controlled magnetic fields. The rate of lifting can be rapidly adjusted and can safely reach above standard output levels, or even higher if one is feeling unsafe. Of course low output can have some advantages too, since there are no special components to the Sun-Eater it can pass for an unsuspecting civilian-grade reactor when tuned down.

At the same time, the higher you turn the output of the Sun-Eater, the higher the heat and radiation levels, requiring more advanced containment systems to operate safely. Any breach or meltdown in the system would be disastrous and letting the reactor run too long at too high a level can destabilize the miniature star inside. Which would be, in scientific terms, astronomically catastrophic.
