- Description: Outbound Flight is a civil agency dedicated to peaceful exploratory development of the Unknown Regions and fostering renewed cultural relations abroad. This federal program has been ratified by the Galactic Alliance Senate and allocated funding to construct additional space infrastructure beyond Ilum as well as launch probes or manned expeditions in search of unclaimed resources. While GADF personnel have been allocated to defend Outbound Flight facilities and provide escort details, the agency's primary directives are scientific research and understanding.

- Domain: Outbound Flight assets and expeditions are spread out across the Unknown Regions. Most concentrated around Ilum where contact and supply from the Core Worlds is still relatively secure. Each facility is technically a federal institution however the agency's authority over Alliance citizens and local natives is strictly limited.

- Mission Control - A state of the art deep space listening post and reserved launch berth aboard Outlander Station. Mission Control uses cloaked binary beacons and powerful subspace transmitters to maintain contact with Outbound Flight expeditions far outside conventional tracking range. Networks of communications triads are being seeded across the Chaos to relay deep space signals home.
- Gateway Outpost - Small research facility and refueling depot in orbit of Ilum. Any tech or biological samples deemed too hazardous for study aboard Outlander are contained here. Gateway is the first resupply point in a planned chain to extend Outbound Flight's reach even farther.

- Membership: Kybernauts and mission specialists are recruited from the best and brightest throughout the Alliance. Civilians, soldiers, and Jedi all work together to carry the torch of Alliance ideals and freedoms beyond the farthest stars. Kybernaut candidates are evaluated to ensure physical and psychological fitness. Training in contact protocols and use of Outbound Flight equipment is required before candidates can be accepted into the program.
- Climate: Part cutting edge scientific think tank, part galactic survey corps. Enough federal funding to make everything shiny. Exploring new frontiers generates a natural excitement which permeates through even routine expeditions.
- Reputation: Outbound Flight symbolizes an exciting new age of discovery for Galactic Alliance citizens. Many see it as a noble symbol of what the Galactic Alliance can be at its best but for those with more isolationist tendencies it represents a waste of resources better spent elsewhere. Beyond its borders Alliance kybernauts are viewed with skepticism or wary trust. Some worlds consider their expansion into the Unknown Regions a form of cultural imperialism yet others see value in forming new trade and diplomatic connections with lesser space.

Established in 865 ABY by Senate resolution. Outbound Flight was a direct reaction to the destruction of Csilla by Maw cultists and the resulting humanitarian crisis. Alarmed by such destructive potential created in what many considered a galactic backwater, the Galactic Alliance remained reluctant to sanction an imperialist conquest of the Unknown Regions for the sake of eminent domain. Instead they seek to foster trade and diplomatic relations through humanitarian programs like Outbound Flight.
Named for the first failed expedition to colonize new worlds beyond our known galaxy, this new Outbound Flight is not just one expedition but an entire wave of smaller scale projects with the ultimate goal of achieving its original mission. Navigating the Unknown Regions isn't like dusting crops so new experimental jump beacons are being developed and deployed to chart and study the shifting hyperspace currents and unique gravitional anomalies. Long term contracts have been signed with the Navigator's Guild Concourse on Outlander Station to guide Alliance expeditions through more stable territories.
While their stated intentions are noble the Outbound Flight Program is politically driven by fears that Galactic Alliance technological advancement has become too stagnant and prolonged military campaigns against the Sith could leave them vulnerable to new threats encroaching from the galaxy's edge. Csilla has forced many to reconsider what role the Alliance should play beyond its own borders.
