The pheromone biot is simple in what it does, allow the production of natural pheromones to be controlled by the user to levels that only some species in the galaxy previously have experienced and controlled. As a biot it suffers from some dangerous effects, if it is exposed to pollen from a bafforr tree causing it to swell and die. The other dangers are in the body rejecting the biot which is why anti-rejection pills are given from Sakura along with a close regiment to ensure the biot grats into the body and adjusts with it properly. The subjects getting the biot additionally need to be in the peak of physical and preferably mental health to be able to handle the procedure.
THe lymph nodes in the neck are where the biot go, replacing it and being excreted in the sweat from the body, long term use of them and the replacement can cause swelling in the lymph nodes with the armpits. The swelling can be eased and broken down with periodic drainings to prevent build up and infection. The improved design and work over the years has gone a long way in terms of easing the side effects... with better biot interactions so rejection of the implants is negligible and infection rate is lowered to extremely low levels. The production of excessive body odor is there and can happen but can be maintained. The new and improved biot implants though can aid in the production letting other species control their levels and match some of the more exotic species.
