    APPEARANCE

Owing to her Morellian genetics, Oriadne has a brilliant, long, fiery mane of red hair, complemented by dark green eyes, and skin with a healthy glow. Her stature is neither short nor tall, and her curves are moderate and balanced.

Most of the years of her life have been spent in the robes, armour, and accoutrements of a Jedi, but after waking from roughly nine centuries of stasis in the same robes and armour, and given she was no longer part of the Jedi Order that raised her, she had these fabrics laundered and stored away, the armour cleaned and stored much the same, and started wearing different clothes to fit in, as she had countless times when going undercover, or in her off time with her family. Earrings are a frequent accessory, but her wedding ring was also stored, after accepting the path she had been put on, so far flung in time.

All that said, her identity as a Jedi still broadly informs her manner of dress, outside of robes. Pieces are kept simple, and she typically dresses modestly.

    TRAITS

*Just the personality to update, now! Str/wea may go through more updates/tweaking. Some less... temporary-looking weaknesses would be nice. <3

    Attention to Detail
Countless decades - centuries - as an Investigator and a Shadow, coupled with a seemingly natural predisposition, have made for a keen individual in Oriadne Hallas.

    Discernment
Just as she notices the little things, Oriadne is a good judge of character, disposition, and more besides.

    Deception
Though not for nefarious means, deception employed in investigative roles could skirt beyond simply mind tricks. The line, however, can blur.

    Black, White, and Gray

Though Jedi Shadows were known to be rather black and white in their thinking in her time, as a Jedi Investigator first and foremost, Oriadne was less susceptible, though not wholly immune, to this line of thinking. In a new era, far from her own, this may complicate things with where she has found herself, or at the very least, create some awkwardness.

    Burden of Memory
As one who has recently emerged from a near-nine centuries of stasis, having gone into it with scant preparation in the early weeks of the Great Jedi Purge in 19 BBY, Oriadne is saddled with loss, and bouts of guilt-ridden pain. Only time can make this burden easier to bear.

    Muscular Weakness
Such a long period of stasis is bound to have its effects, and as such, Oriadne is in the midst of the long road of recovery from muscular atrophy. The Force kept her alive and sustained her, yes, but immobile is immobile no matter the reason, and will have such consequences.

    PERSONALITY
Tell us how charming you are. Or not.

    HISTORY

    Part I - Discovery

Oriadne Methalan Hallas was born on Morellia in 220 BBY, the first child of Ethzema and Damirei Hallas, two Morellian Enforcers, but would soon be separated from her parents when a Jedi Knight by the name of Szal Murn, and his half-Shi'ido padawan, Adathar Nytrau came to the world, having chased a Dark Jedi criminal there. The commotion drew the attention of the new parents, and Ethzema dutifully went to investigate, as did a few other Enforcers in the neighbourhood. The ensuing battle would leave Szal and one Enforcer gravely wounded, and the Sith and two other Enforcers dead, while Adathar and Ethzema came out only limping, going right to tending to the other survivors, taking them to the Hallas home to hopefully recover.

It was here that Szal would feel the touch of the Force in the wee Oriadne, only months old; Adathar was both worried over the condition of his master, and welling up with internal disagreement over what he too realised about the child... what he knew his master must be thinking about the child of a man whose assistance his master might have been dead without, but Szal, sensing the unvoiced dissent coming from his student, urged him to go help Ethzema take care of the bodies with respect, while Damirei tended to Szal and the other Enforcer. With Oriadne blissfully asleep and Adathar's young passion and empathy rerouted, the master could speak to the mother alone.

The hard reality that Damirei was presented with by the Jedi Master was difficult to swallow. How could anyone believe that such a small, innocent life might choose to walk such a path of destruction? But to simply hope that no such thing would happen could not wholly prevent it, and this might be the only chance Damirei had to ensure her daughter would have a hope of becoming a better thing than what lurked in this realm - something Szal wouldn't be able to properly give a full investigation, this time, as his window for being on this planet without a proper permit was severely limited by the Commonwealth, such that he would not be fully recovered before they had to leave. The damage caused by this unfortunate event would otherwise hold them up in red tape for months, or longer: the Republic had no standing presence here, and Wild Space was rife with dark elements such as that which had just claimed the lives of two of the already dwindling population of Morellians; this was a point on which Szal could ensure that the child would not be entirely subject to the Order's restrictions on relationships. With a promise that she would think on it and talk with her husband, padawan and husband returned, and Oriadne woke with a wail.

While the two parents went to their child, Szal took the time to guide his padawan through tending to the wounds of others through the Force, a skill for which the master had very little talent (a skill Adathar had already learned to exercise on himself) to bolster the care that the mother had already given. While the padawan set about bringing some healing to the wounds of his master and the Enforcer near to them, Szal spoke to him on the matter of the child; Adathar was quiet throughout, feeling sad for the parents, but accepting and understanding the facts, and though dejected, agreed with his master. It was more than simply duty to attempt to bring a discovered sensitive into the fold. It was prevention. But meeting the child had left the padawan with the strong feeling that he was strung to her fate. Whatever that would come to mean, only time could tell.

Part II - A Path Diverted, A Brighter Future

Though Ethzema and Damirei would later leave Morellia to join the Republic as scouts, soon after the birth of another child, a son they named Parazan, Oriadne left with the two Jedi, bound for her new destiny in the days that followed that fateful meeting, when Szal was healed enough to move, more or less under his own power. They made their way to Coruscant, where the babe was delivered to the care of the fosterers at the Temple, but she would remain on their minds, especially for Adathar. Though he still felt conflicted about the situation, he knew this was the right thing to do. After submitting to the ministrations of the Circle of Healers and meeting with the High Council to deliver their report, the pair were soon sent on to their next mission. The next eight years would see Szal attain Mastery and Adathar pass his trials to become a Jedi Knight, while Oriadne grew in the Jedi way, made lasting friendships, and proved herself to be a promising Initiate.

The time would come for Adathar to take a padawan of his own, and knowing the interest his student continued to have in the child they had delivered eight years before, Szal counseled him that the Force might have another in mind, but the upcoming Apprentice Tournament coincided with a period between missions, and the young Oriadne was thought to be one that would do well by the Masters who handled the induction of younglings into the Jedi way. Adathar accepted that he would at least be content to see her succeed, even if the Force might have someone else chosen for him, and they went to observe all the Initiates that would be proving themselves as they hoped to gain the attention of a Master or Knight. Adathar knew that he would have to couch his decision in who might be best suited for their line of work.

Many of the Initiates applied themselves well, and shone bright, but few displayed a keen attention to the details of their opponent as it became apparent that Oriadne could do, and with her Morellian biology, she was given to great strength that had been tempered by her few years of training, to great effect. Szal would later remark with amusement that his student appeared to be prescient when it came to the girl, but that day proved that she was an ideal choice, and in short order, the young Morellian Initiate at the age of eight became Jedi Padawan Oriadne Hallas, the first student of Jedi Knight Adathar Nytrau, who himself was only just an adult.

Part III - Becoming a Jedi

The life of a Jedi in the High Republic era was expansive, and the training of Oriadne Hallas took her to many places throughout Republic space, and beyond, laying the foundation for the Jedi she would become. Her keen attention to detail and sharp appraisal of people served her well, and after passing the Jedi Trials in 194 BBY and having conferred upon her the rank of Jedi Knight, she opted for further study in the path of a Sentinel, specialising as a Jedi Investigator as her Master intended; she spent five years between focused study, training, and missions to cement the specifics of her specialisation.

Working alongside, and sometimes directly with law enforcement in many cases over the twenty-three years of her training grew her list of contacts and friendship outside that of the Jedi, and training several students over the course of more than a century beyond her own years as a learner further expanded her network, through them and their own students.

She was accorded the rank of Master, circa 153 BBY.

Part IV - Death is the Only Certainty…

Unlike the routes that most Investigators took, moving on from the intensity of the role or becoming aged… at some point prior to her ascension to Master, Ori was added to the ranks of the Jedi Shadows, as her investigative work tended to cross into this territory more often than not. Though the Sith themselves had been believed extinct for centuries, rumours and signs of the Dark Side still persisted in other ways and were not to be ignored.

It was on one such mission, roughly a century after attaining the rank of Master, that she encountered a man by the name of Grypphon Whyte, who was following the same lead as she was. Though their reasons were somewhat different: hers - to root out and put an end to a nascent minor cult that seemed to carry the scent of darkness, and their leadership; his - to eradicate any smidge of darkness that had to do with his father.

It was through the long weeks in each other’s sole company that an intimate relationship formed, though this would be short-lived, as it was in this mission that she also met one of her greatest opponents - the entity named Marsuo’ur’stalis, Grypphon’s brother and oldest adversary - when their work was nearly done, with Oriadne about to give the signal to the local law enforcement to come in and round up the cultists. A fight ensued in which Grypphon lost his life to his brother’s blade, and Oriadne barely escaped with her own; she was taken in by a local unit of Sector Rangers, at that time headed up by Special Enforcement Officer Aron Urstalis, when they found her ship adrift and damaged, with the Jedi Master unconscious.

SEO Urstalis recognised the Jedi as one that had accompanied his unit when he was still a relatively new ranger, many decades prior, recalling that her presence had been a boon, a meeting that had a considerable influence on his work thereafter… but it wasn’t only this that stuck with him. No, Oriadne was one of his own, one of his people that were rarer in the galaxy with each passing year. Because of this, he had to make sure she made it safely back to the Jedi temple.

He had to see if he could get to know her better, for Morellia’s sake.

    Part V - …Change, the Only Constant

Recuperating in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant gave Ori time to think, to process what had occurred, and to sort through her feelings for the man she lost, examining the attachment she had formed. Wondering if the mission might have had a better outcome if she had kept her distance. Soon enough, she was discharged, and took a leave from her duties as a Shadow, to focus again on investigative work in mid-52 BBY.

It wasn’t long, however, until she was found to be pregnant. It was also around this time that she received a message from the lead of the crew that rescued her, SEO Urstalis, that wasn’t of the nature that she had come to expect from her contacts - a simple proposal, that asked for her company. A fellow Morellian. Why did that name seem familiar? Denon! She had been a younger knight, then, and still strictly adherent to the restrictions of Jedi life, despite the knowledge that it would be her prerogative, that she would be permitted to aid the continuance of her species, if she could.

Despite her feelings now, and with life already growing within her, she would give the somewhat younger Urstalis a chance.

Part VI - The Waning Republic

What followed were mature discussions, and difficult decisions, woven amongst a solidifying respect and appreciation for one another. Trading of stories, informing on the aspects of the culture of their people that she had never known. The parents and siblings she had never known, Aron had known of in passing, and of the Jedi that had been present that fateful day, some 170 years prior - her master, and her master’s master.. If not for their intervention, Aron himself would have never known life, as his own father was one of the Enforcers that survived the encounter with that Dark Jedi which brought her Master to Morellia in the first place.

The first of Oriadne’s children were born in the early months of 51BBY: the twins Jefsran and Jeric; with Jefsran found to be Force-Sensitive, he was given to the Jedi, with her old master Adathar taking an interest in the boy’s care and giving him another name along with his own surname - Ilias Nytrau. By 52 BBY, Oriadne was married, with Aron adopting her younger son as his own and calling him by his middle name, Thane. They would go on to have one more son, Almar, and two daughters, Nethema and Leriel.

Their children had a relatively safe upbringing, but as the oldest of them started to reach adulthood, but with the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY, something had begun to feel amiss, but things became quiet again for nearly a decade, until the Separatist Crisis, and the First Battle of Geonosis, where Oriadne was pulled in to fight. By the ending days of the Clone Wars, she was assigned in the Outer Rim, like many Jedi Generals, to assist the Grand Army of the Republic.

Part VII - The Purge and Beyond... Come What May

19 BBY. As the tide turned to favour the Republic, their clones betrayed them, gunning down many Jedi, while others managed to escape the wholesale slaughter by the skin of their teeth. For not the first time in her two centuries of life, Oriadne escaped death, cutting down her clones, and ultimately fleeing deep into the southernmost arm of the galaxy when the warning to avoid the temple came from Master Kenobi, into an expanse of space that seemed to swallow ships and never spit them out. A place where things were forgotten.

It was in this place she hid, going into stasis, and remaining there. Aron would find a holomessage waiting for him, contained within it her love, and her imploring of him to forget her, and have the best life he could. To tell their children she loved them. That she couldn’t tell them where she was going, and this was the only way she could keep them safe.

She hoped she could find Aron again, but the Force often has other plans. In the end, Oriadne Hallas remained in stasis for nearly nine centuries, awakening to a dangerous region that felt… less dangerous. Awakened by their activity. After time spent reminding her legs how to walk, often resorting to levitation, she made her way out of the Uncharted Systems, soon enough coming into contact with the Ascendancy.

Months later, after further recuperation and processing of her current reality, bereft of all those she knew and loved; after learning something of the place where she was, and what laid beyond it, Oriadne started to get on with life in what was now a largely unfamiliar galaxy…
