Operation Concierge

"Please take a look at this: it is about the Ta'jar Blood Gang. It took a while, but apparently new information has surfaced from what you salvaged on Chalacta and Jakku" the concierge told Varindar.

"What is it now? Why is it that it took so long to act on that?"

"There were more urgent issues than crime, namely Mandos. However, the nominal owner, an Esh-Kha called Sable Juggernaut, is using slave labor to staff another five-star hotel, a much larger hotel called the Daoba Hotel in Coronet City on Corellia"

If I need to run a sting operation, I can't claim Ta'jar affiliation anymore, she thought, while the hotel has matured and reached the maximum height permitted by Forak ordinances for commercial property. And also that the Order transferred the hotel to her personal name as well. The prospect was tantalizing to take out another loan to buy another property after all the assets seized from the Ta'jars are accounted for. Varindar may have run and owned the most prestigious property on Trandosha, but owning a five-star hotel on Corellia in one of the most prestigious areas of Coronet City, Axial Park, was just too good an opportunity to pass up. Then again, from what she could make out, there has been a lot of kitchen staff turnover, and a hotel with 1,131 rooms (as opposed to 93 in the Crown Nebula) is too large for a single restaurant. So she would expect an executive chef of an hotel this size to oversee multiple restaurants at once. Plus the cancellation policy isn't as draconian as was the case for the Crown Nebula under Ta'jar administration, but is still suspiciously usable for moneylaundering in her eyes, since any period after which any security deposit is non-refundable can be used as such.

It has been months since the Ta'jar Blood Gang last was sighted. But now we have good reason to believe that there are slavery operations taking place in the premises. I have a plan to catch the slavers: I'll pretend to apply for the executive chef position and distract the owner, while you try to arrange a board meeting for the managerial personnel, which under Ta'jar protocol, would include all the slavers, and lay a trap on them at the board meeting, preferably one that leaves them alive but asleep or unconscious. If successful, you will have one free night at the hotel, and three free meals at the hotel's restaurants.

Chekita may very well be a member of Faith Organa's personal guard and have more important things to do then take up mercenary assignments, but a merc life was just one thing you never really go rid of. If she was on world the go happy Mando would usually be looking round for some sort of extra work, and low and behold she seemed to have been given one.

"[member="Varindar Asyt"] hu, ain't that some chick who run a hotel over in Silvies area", expanding the business to Corellia, wise idea. "Hmmm a sting operation, certainly something I can get behind", she had at one point been a hired gun for Vee Toa, and though said man seemed to have vanished from the galaxy (probably got killed) his reputation as still something to go by.

A simple job for some extra cash, and maybe a spar day thrown in their, Chekita was not young and keeping such a good complexion ain't as easy as it looked, "Guess I'm going slave hunting at a hotel now, this ought to be fun". Sending a message back the bodyguard started to make her way towards the new hotel.

"Maybe you could, you know, insert some sleep medications into their drinks if that's feasible. I'm going to cook the main course for both the owner and the other slavers, as per the terms of the executive chef job interview"

A few days later, after Varindar sent in her dossier for the position of executive chef at the Daoba Hotel, she met face-to-face with Chekita just outside the hotel's main gate. And she must have realized that the hotel owner only scheduled 3 interviews a day for the executive chef position, presumably because the owner wanted the prospective executive chef to cook for the Esh-Kha owner. [member="Chekīta Awaud"] was a little nervous at the beginning of the sting operation, but maybe, maybe Varindar would cook as many servings of ants climbing a tree as there were slavers to catch. With a special ingredient that will likely put them to sleep, mixed in with spice. Once the two arrive at the hotel's front desk, guests would not realize the Daoba would, in fact, be an establishment run by slavers; it wasn't as run-down as the Crown Nebula was when she first began to run it. Maybe there still was some hope for the hotel, maybe there were guests still somehow willing to stay in there. Just that she would need to let the front desk know before the executive chef interview starts for what would be a job at a 5-star restaurant system.

"I am Varindar Asyt; I have an interview for the executive chef position for the dinner service"

"Follow me to the kitchen" the slave receptionist told Varindar

"Sleeping pill eh, not my style but what ever, will do misses hotel owner, now were did I put that maid outfit.. just kidding I don't have one of those". with plans in motion Chekita made sure to have room in the day to meet with [member="Varindar Asyt"].

For this little operation the youthful looking mando chose to wear a more casual outfit, going for her usual t-shirt and long jeans, both showing off her muscular but well toned and in her mind sexy figure. It seemed to do the work as those coming in were more focused on her chest then seeing if the drinks she handed around were spiked with anything, a small hint of glee present on Chekita's face as she watched the member unknowing drink the sleeping induced alcohol.

Now all she had to do was wait until Varindar finished her interview and got the food prepared, in the mean time she'd entertain the guest and answer an questions. "So we have not heard from Vee in quite a while, would you happen to know what has happened to the man"? one of the slave ringers asked. "Yes and know, what information I have has linked him to being taken in by the Silver Jedi, though in addition it seemed the guy was some sort of Sith too which complicates things even further, where he is now i am not sure about".

"What makes you qualified to become an executive chef for a hotel's system of five-star restaurants?" Sable Juggernaut asked, once in the kitchen. "Your past cooking experience in gourmet dining include manning a rôtisseur and an entremétier station, in that chronological order"

"I was the one that even made that particular restaurant's grilled meats and soups hold up to the standard of a five-star restaurant; I was responsible for a few recipes in these areas when the executive chef went sick and couldn't work" she told the Esh-Kha as calmly as was possible, based on what she knew about him.

"I have the feeling that there were recipes you wanted to implement but never had the opportunity to. Now, cook us one of those recipes for thirteen people before I kill you!" Sable Juggernaut ordered Varindar, with more anger in his voice than she would have expected out of a hotel general manager.

And the hotel that restaurant is in, too, Varindar thought, while realizing that [member="Chekīta Awaud"] was simply waiting for the meal service to arrive at the hotel's board meeting. She knew that, when Sable Juggernaut held an interview for the executive chef position, he typically had the hotel's board eat the same stuff as he did. And thus Varindar got to work cooking thirteen servings of ants climbing a tree, using pyrokinesis, starting with the ginger, peppers and garlic. Every ingredient for ants climbing a tree was readily available although they were all used for different ends: ground meat and red-hot chili peppers for chili, pho pasta was used for curry-flavored noodles, minced ginger, soy sauce, scallions and garlic for a variety of other recipes that needed either. She thus added in some mirin, soy sauce and then the pasta, all of which were, as usual, pyrokinetically-treated, and stirred the whole thing before adding in the scallions and putting in all 13 servings into plates which, as is the case in five-star restaurants, are served in cloches. Just that there wouldn't be 13 waiters inbound to the board room, there would be two waiters, with one cart apiece, carrying respectively eight and five cloches. One of them was to be Varindar for some reason. And the guests would be smelling tasty, spicy meals while those carts were passing through the hotel's halls.

"Drive the cart to the board room, faster than that!" the Esh-Kha hotelier ordered Varindar once the servings of ants climbing a tree were ready.

A small round of muttering was heard throughout the bored room as the leading slaver talked among themselves, with Vee out of the way their was a power vacuum in the slave business. New about the man being a Sith Lord probably getting many to realize how he was able to amass so much power so fast and why the Silvers went down on him so fast, or what Chekita had said, something something everyone believed right away.

"Soo, tell me miss Awaud, how did you find out about Vee being a Sith and all that, from what I know you mainly operate around Nar Shadda"? "Ture I did, but I also have been working around the core quite recently, I am an Awaud after all, family business and all that, even if I am not actually with the Mando empire and all that". It was not the entire truth, she had left out the part on being a personal body guard to Faith Organa in Praetorian Squad, but under that senator commando armor no one would have know it was her.

"Anyways, as you know with this sudden disappearance and other complication, along with all the sting operations set bu the Jedi's and all that we should really get down to doing business and all that". "Though first, I think a meal would be in order, I know this meeting was sudden and many of you have not had something to eat yet, hence why this restaurant was booked for the meeting". Of course it was deliberate, it would make the spiked drinks effect seem less suspicious, more so if people had to go to the bathroom.

"I believe that the meals will be coming in soon, a new special on the menu or something like that", she replied, knowing that [member="Varindar Asyt"] would soon come in with the meals. If it was anyone else then perhaps the people would have been suspicious but Chekita was not known to be ethical or really care about, she'd get paid get told to do a job and do it best to her ability. Need someone killed she was on that, need someone protected, on that too, in both cases herself completing the task as best as possible, regardless of collateral damage.

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

"Ripe, spicy noodles!" Varindar announced, with the Esh-Kha owner in tow, holding Varindar at gunpoint.

While [member="Chekīta Awaud"] was about to serve the spiked drinks, Varindar distributed the cloches and pulled them out, one by one, revealing ants climbing a tree cooked according to her very own recipe for that stuff. Nevertheless she is cautious about not revealing that they are, in fact, ants climbing a tree despite not actually containing ants, at least not until absolutely necessary. The Esh-Kha was served last because he was seated last. For him, each prospective executive chef had to prepare a new item while the owner ate it. Sable Juggernaut and the others were now down to eating this meal of spicy noodles, with the other waiter collecting the cloches and their platters for return to the restaurant's kitchen. Thus far there has been no apparent sign of food poisoning, at least not yet, since the drinks haven't been served yet; she was happy even if she legitimately wanted to work as the executive chef in this grand hotel. Varindar still had a role to play with respect to the cart, though. She had to bring it back to the restaurant for use by new guests as well as room service.

"Now that our hosts are eating, it is time to serve the drinks" she whispered to Chekita once the thirteen cloches were removed, and she brought an empty cart back to the kitchen.

"Ahh food is here, what nice timing, please everyone make sure to eat up, and if you can't handle the heat their is always plenty of drinks to pass around". Another small addition to the whole operation, what better way to get people to drink a spiked drink then have spicy food, hopefully non of the older members of the slave ring got heart burn, that would make things a little difficult.

"Yes, yes, waitress please hand the drinks around, leave a bottle for seconds and give one to me, make it some sort of alcohol", even if it was a sting operation didn't mean she couldn't have fun. Through out the entire time the same rather creepy smile was worn by the Mando while [member="Varindar Asyt"] passed the food and drinks around, a little bit giddy on the inside by how badly these slavers had been screwed coming here.

"Now let us dig in and continue to talk about the power vacuum, more so who will be taking over Vee's luxury palace on Jakku". That would certainly get their attention, who knew, perhaps she could cause some sorts of infighting among the slavers. It seemed her talk on the palace made the congregated group eat that bit faster, most likely eager to chip in why 'they' should be given Vee's old property,

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

"Keep in mind that Vee may as well be an absentee owner for what we know, so be prepared to defend yourself should he resurface" one of the slavers commented after taking a bite of those noodles, upon returning from the restaurant.

"If we need to fight to settle the issue, what about we hold a tournament in the hotel's theater, and we try to run the tournament as we would a regular Teräs Käsi tournament" the Esh-Kha owner suggested, while giggling.

Let them fight for Vee's palace on Jakku. All that Jakku ever conjured in my mind was a failed sting operation, partially redeemed on Chalacta, but its redemption is partial because of the death tolls of Jakku, Varindar thought, while [member="Chekīta Awaud"] was ready to fetch a bottle of alcoholic beverage as requested by one of the patrons. Last she heard about Vee, he just vanished from Jakku without a trace. Plus Corellian audiences would find a Teräs Käsi tournament a little barbaric, but exotic at the same time. But better dead slavers than dead slaves in Varindar's mind, especially if the Esh-Kha actually attempts to kill his fellow slavers in their sleep. Speaking of sleep, the first one to start falling asleep, a Nikto, did so after drinking some water, followed by a Gran and a Devlikk when Varindar. Thus she stood ready to intervene should anybody attempt to kill those slavers in their sleep, but since her lightsaber is at the front desk, she will have to use the Force if it came to that. And yet, she could feel that the topic of Jakku's palace would cause tensions to rise among slavers that didn't fall asleep.

The talk of fighting certainly got her attention, if it wasn't for the fact Chekita did not have a stake in the slave business she'd have probably join in such a competition. Though that would not be fair for her opponents, she'd probably just wind up killing them all in the ring, if such was the case it would have been easier just to shoot everyone here and now. "Well now don't go hurting each other to badly if you wanna have this competition, wind up with a death or two and well be right back here talking about turf grabs, wouldn't want the slave business to kill itself".

It seemed through her small speech would go unnoticed for the most part, as some of the people present started to fall under the effects of the spiked drinks. "Hmmm, looks like some of you can't handle your liquor, or are they just sleepy from the trip"? The Mando showing ignorance over the spiked drinks which had been sent around. With the ever creepy smile Chekita watched slowly as each person passed out, waving with a cute hand to the last one before all the slavers were have a nice time in la la land. "Aww they look so peaceful laying there, be a shame if someone where to kidnapp em right about now".

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

"For what I know you may wish to hold this tournament in prison, in which case you will have more than your share of interest from the crowd. Of course, that would assume you would be in prison to begin with"

"We'll probably have a... better-attended tournament... but one for... rights to absentee ownership" Sable Juggernaut declared, after eating the resulting ants climbing a tree and drinking a glass of water.

While slaves working in the administrative section were securing the evidence of their bosses' crimes as slavers, [member="Chekīta Awaud"] must have realized that, if the Esh-Kha's alternative has, in fact, come to pass, they may as well die in prison and reap little to no benefits from Vee's palace on Jakku. And absentee ownership, in the criminal world, is a risky business at best; even if you had a steward manager, there is no guarantee that said steward wouldn't want to usurp ownership or to double-cross the nominal owner. Who's laughing now? Who would have thought that I could make them eat ants climbing a tree without them knowing it until they wake up? Varindar thought, while nobody would even ask what is it that they were eating before falling asleep. And the simple-minded Esh-Kha slaver, about as simple-minded as a typical Sith Knight of his stature would be, fell victim to a sting operation; sure the Esh-Kha would have prospective executive chefs interviewed for each meal service, but he didn't think that the chef could spike ingredients...

"Time is short to handcuff and arrest the whole lot in their sleep: it will only last about two to three hours"

"Hand cuff em? kinky, never thought I'd be playing police officer, glad I always keep some cable ties for other operations", a must have for a body guard. Legally speaking they were not allowed to arrest anyone but could detain a person for a designated amount of time until proper authorities came to deal with the situation. "I wonder how things will be affected in the underworld with these guys in prison, probably start a small minor civil was in the criminal world... oh that could be good for business". There would be plenty of people willing to hire her if things went south for the slave rings.

"So where we taking these guys? local crime stoppers or is this one of your Silver Jedi busts"? She asked restraining the last person as she worked her way around to [member="Varindar Asyt"]. "Or is that a need to know thing only? either way I don't care, as long as I get paid in some manner", this was a job after all, Chekita didn't do stuff just out of the kindness of her heart.

"Just deliver the guys to the CorSec; the CorSec is more interested by these slavers than the Silvers. Plus the Esh-Kha is wanted for other crimes and we may as well claim the bounty on him jointly. Oh and if you think it's even worthwhile to sleep a night in this hotel... you must have been weary from previous jobs"

However, the others don't even have bounties on them, just the Esh-Kha. Meanwhile, one of the slave maids called the CorSec, now realizing what was happening to her superiors. As those slavers are now falling asleep, [member="Chekīta Awaud"] must just be waiting for the CorSec transports to take those slavers away and then claim the bounty. And Varindar was a little disappointed that she couldn't get any feedback whatsoever on the ants climbing a tree she cooked for those guys. Now, just because those slavers are now asleep didn't mean that she could do anything she wanted for the span of time she had until the cops arrived. Just like Chalacta: there was a need to consider the lead time for the cops to arrive, even though Chalacta had fumigation to consider as well, Varindar thought, while the parallels with Chalacta were pretty clear in her mind, it wasn't fully identical. Hopefully there was enough rooms left vacant to allow Chekita to sleep in one of those 1,131 rooms, and the lead CorSec agent, too. Just that the police finally arrived to take away those slavers still sleeping...

"What's happening here?" the CorSec agent asked when the CorSec finally arrived on scene, with his henchmen taking away the remaining slavers.

"Sleepy? Varyy Varyy, I can call you Varry right? what ev that's your nick name now, I am a Mando, I don't simply get sleepy and wearing form something like this". "Maybe after a day of fighting through a zombie infested cruse liner I'll be bit tuckered out but not this, though I am the kind of person whole likes to mess about and do stupid crap so spending a night and having fun ain't out of the picture for me".

Besides were does someone get the chance to sleep in a place like this? most of the time she was truing to keep a little under the radar due to career options, lat time she went out in the open it resulted in a sniper, with an rpg. She'd have to look into what this place had to offer but for now time to play sheriff and put these guys in jail, just like the end of a cheesy holo crime drama. Dropping the cuffed crooks off to the security peeps the still smiling mando made her way back to[member="Varindar Asyt"], arms around her neck. "So, am I being set up in the presidential room? still not 100% certain what this place has to offer besides a nice selection of booze".

"Even a regular room in 5-star hotels, such as this one, would be more like the supreme rooms in lower-level hotels, such as three-star ones, or maybe suites at 4-star ones" she explained to [member="Chekīta Awaud"], visibly unfamiliar with the amenities of luxury hotels beyond a rather lengthy liquor list.

The "supreme rooms" typically go by various names: the Chancellor's Suite (of which there is only one at the Daoba, and it is named as such since Saresh actually slept there), and also presidential, royal or imperial (the latter is in use at Varindar's current hotel, the Crown Nebula). But whereas the Crown Nebula on Trandosha was routinely sold out on most nights by virtue of the planet not having other five-star hotels, the Daoba would have vacancies much more often. So that even the more regular rooms would feature such things as a bubble bath with fade-to-black, 4K holoscreens, personalized climate control, sheets, a minibar, room service, and even a kitchenette for those who would instead have nutritional requirements that room service or restaurants (typically room service menus were the same as the restaurants on the lower levels at hotels like these) could not provide for. But now that the crooks are taken away much as is the case in a cheesy holo crime drama, including but not limited to, the Esh-Kha head honcho, she took the time to check on the room tracking system and check what vacancies were left.

"However, what you referred to as the presidential room is called the Chancellor's Suite here and, despite the managerial practices of the former owners, is typically rented out months in advance. Typically rooms and lesser suites are easier to leave vacant"

“Hu well what ever, as long as the bed is big and comfy and I have room to do some form of exercise I am good, though a decent view and large bath would not hurt”. May give her a few ideas about a new home improv, met day in the barrels back on Alderan, being a royal guard Chekita did have a lot of freedom in the form of room decorating. Perhaps that could be part of a small side job, with the planet still undergoing major rebuilding someone with a good eye for detail (aka herself) and some good know how onto make a nice living are would earn a whole heap of money.

She contained to listen as [member="Varindar Asyt"] explained about the suites on the top floor. “oh well I’ll just settle for what is available and the most pricy, certainly this place has some valentines high roller rooms for me to spend the nigh, maybe invite a few friends over and party... nah to nosy wouldn’t be able to take a bath like that... oh now I’m ranting on again”. “Anyways, I think we are done here no? Shall we ourself grab a bite to eat, kick back and relax after a good days worl done”.

"Here, have a look at the room service menu" Varindar told [member="Chekīta Awaud"], while she was checking on the room tracking system for available suites. "You have three meals on the house, so make these meals count"

The room service menu is just the condensed menus of all five of the five-star restaurants available on-site, with a line on an item saying from which restaurant(s) each item would be purchased from. It was only natural that room service would allow hotel guests to order from any restaurant on-site; however, the room service had twenty pages for this reason, to the tune of four pages for each of the restaurant. Meanwhile, although the suites were known by different names, most of them being famous guests of the hotel, or sometimes titles held by the guests if their actual names were lost to history (such as the Barsen'thor and Hero of Tython suites, both of which were vacant for tonight) they all featured near-identical amenities. She thus made available a list of the vacant suites, as well as their room numbers and corresponding floors, but decided to give Chekita some time to read over the room service menu, which sported about 300 menu items total between all five restaurants. Once the room status could be confirmed, there were about a dozen suites still vacant, only waiting a guest, but their respective keys would have to come from the front desk.

"Here's the list of the vacant suites for tonight"

"Three meals on the house, woo now that is a good deal, that comes with drinks to right"? she asked looking through the different available meals, half of which she was unable to pronounce. "Well it is certainly a fancy place I can give it that much at the very least, don't think I will be eating here again anytime soon though". The shear number of pages and food on the menu was probably enough that would could stay here for a new months and eat something new everyday, it was hard to just pick 3 out of the hundred she had seen so far.

She had to decided and relatively fast, her eyes wading over some exquisite looking meal dish called, Carne pizzaiola, a spaghetti pizza cross over? sounded interesting to her. "I think I will get this, can I pick another main dish or only breakfast and desert"? That was how these fancy places worked right? you order breakfast and dinner along with some desert or lunch. Before she could get a reply [member="Varindar Asyt"] handed over the list of rooms, Chekita quickly taking it and looking for a place that one would have a party in and dance the night away. It did not take her long to find it, one of the rooms on the mid floor, not far away from one of the hotels bars, "he convenient".

"Just follow me to the front desk and then you'll get your keys to the room you selected. The nice thing about food service is that, although every item comes from one of the five-star restaurants on the lower floors, it doesn't matter for room service purposes from which list to draw your three courses"

What [member="Chekīta Awaud"] referred to as breakfast was normally called the appetizer. Now, Varindar believed that the new guest had to get the keys of the room before she could even try getting room service to whatever room there was on file. She took the guest to the front desk, which, luckily, was on the same floor as the board room, still smelling like freshly-cooked ants climbing a tree. Also, she input Chekita's name and room in the room tracking system while handing her the keys to the Disco Ball room which was effectively, well, not far away from the hotel's bars in the middle floors. And have a mini-bar of its own as well as a jukebox. Plus she ought to eat the... carne pizzaiola at some point, too. Maybe not today, maybe Varindar could be cooking the pasta part of this - it wasn't that different from cooking ants climbing a tree. Maybe somewhat different due to the sauce portion, but she had to do this much for the guest before she could even try going to the kitchen to cook the components of the carne pizzaiola, or what she knew how to cook out of this.

"There, the keys to the Disco Ball" she told Chekita while handing her the keys.

"Geez, the way you describe how this place works, it makes open heart surgery seem like a cake walk, but what ever, just show me how things are done around here, all I gotta do is push buttons right? should be simple enough, still need to decide on the other 2 meals though, you got any recommendations"?

For herself who was used to camping and eating MRE on a regular occasion dinning at 5 star restaurants could be tricky, never knew what certain things tasted like with all the spice and stuff they put in. As such the mercenary simple followed behind the Jedi hotel owner, watching as she went about renting the room and setting up everything else, taking note of the disco ball room, before being handed the key.

"Much obliged, tell me, do they by any chance have dancing guys and girls available or from some nearby, I kind of want to have a little bit of fun fun while I am here, if you know what I mean... unless you being a Jedi bars you from that sort of stuff".
