Operation Concierge

If there was one thing this Esh-Kha did right about managing the hotel, it's that he wanted to have a wide variety of boutique tenants for the basement space available for rental, so that the guests could come here. The Daoba was more than simply a five-star hotel; it was also a mall for which guests that didn't go to any of the five restaurants, nor slept there, could nonetheless go to it to shop for their specialty items. Yet the question [member="Chekīta Awaud"] asked was relevant to the context at hand. But the boutiques had a different schedule compared to the other amenities the hotel had to offer, which included the gym and pool. Which, considering the wide variety of species the hotel had for guests, was a boon that they were open all day, every day. However, she wouldn't pretend to know what other races will prefer as for exercising. She would probably wish to stick to the rowing machine: it's one of her favorite devices for what swimmers called land training because it worked on the upper body, rather similar to weight training but not 100% identical. Hopefully it won't make her suffer cramps...

"Maybe the gym would be open at this point. Then again, as you would expect from a hotel of this standing, a variety of guests will be there, too"

Well nothing wrong with even more working out, maybe some weight lifting? been a while since she had done that in exertion, was good practice for when putting on heavy armor, that stuff wasn't always easy to move in. "Seems like a good place to start, can work up a nice sweat and then hit the pool afterwards, you looking to join me? interested in what sort of routine you have". Never hurt to add something extra to her own, you would be surprised by what things you can learn from an unlikely partner. "We leaving these two to sleep"? She replied looking back at their two dates, her trando one still snoozing on the bead, was probably recovering from the 'work' he had done yesterday, bounty hunting was quite the exhausting work regardless of experience.

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

"Oh sure, if so they wish, we shall let them sleep; they have a key to the room"

Once both [member="Chekīta Awaud"] and Varindar entered the gym, after dressing accodingly, she focused more on the upper body, as per usual when she did land training (which, in the swimming world, typically encompassed weights and other exercises to be made out of the water). The result of her land training regimen affected her clothing choices as well: her deltoids, her trapezius have become oversized for the clothing sizes that would otherwise fit her frame, when sleeves are considered. So she was grateful for those sporting bras she usually wore underneath Jedi robes. Yet her Jedi robes were rather wide, and she didn't wear them all that often. And so, without any Force-assistance, she started doing a series of 40 reps aimed at working on her upper body, torso included, prior to going on the rowing machine. Also, she must have realized that a guest or two were looking at both women's bodies, as they were working out, to look for what looks good on them: the crowd that went to the gym would look beyond breast and butt sizes, and also look at other parts of people's bodies.

"Sounds like a plan, you guys have a nice nap, we will be back around, 11 probably, though no promises". With that she followed Varindar down the elevator to the gym, Chekita letting out a small whistle upon getting inside, certainly was fancy. Starting off she went for leg exercises, resistant pushing to strength calf muscles, along with some weighted squats, soon the burning feeling encompassing the lower part of her body, never skip leg day, those were the things that got you into battle and out. With those done it was off to some trandional weight lifting, Chekita getting some other Mando at the complex to act as her spotter while lifting dumbbells, working up a decent sweat in the process, leading into a mid workout break. Taking a swig of her drink Chkieta walked over to Varindar, watching her work out, "well you certainly have a lot going for ya, not many gals that work out as much as us round here".

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

Obviously some looked at [member="Chekīta Awaud"]'s quads, especially as she was undergoing leg exercises. Some Mando also wanted to look at Chekita's biceps, abs as well. The very same stuff Varindar knew people looked at when she was on the beach. In both males and females. She knew a few Mando voyeurs would systematically look at every gym patron as they went around doing their respective regimens, and a Gand, too. In fact, that Gand was on the rowing machine right next to Varindar, looking at her abs, pecs and her deltoids as she worked on the rowing machine. But it was so easy for a voyeur that didn't work out to conflate one's breast size with one's pecs, especially with females. So it was equally easy for that Mando voyeur to presume that Chekita had stronger pecs than Varindar, while the truth was more complicated. Especially as Varindar moved on to more leg-based exercises on the regimen. Yet, for some reason, Chekita and Varindar seemed to have so many voyeurs' eyes on them, Mando or not. She was blushing so intensively by now that it made her lose some focus, and potentially Chekita, too.

The crowd did not go unnoticed to Chekita as she went back to working out, a coy smile on her face the entire time, kind of liking the whole attention, making sure to give the guys and gals a proper show. Who knew, maybe they would learn something from her routine, would not be surprising to have a few of them copy her in the efforts to get stronger or in attempt to glean attention for themselves. Time ebbed on, once again Chekita coming to an end of a set, walking over to the Jedi as she still went at it, back on leg works, herself noting their red face. "If I didn't know any better I'd say you were blushing from all the stares... are you"? Frankly enough she had only known the women for a day and considering their somber attitude to things it was had to tell what Varindar was thinking half the time.

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

"Yes, I know, but I also know it won't get much better if I was at the beach"

Now I know what it really means to be as pretty as a champion swimmer can be, in a place where voyeurism runs rampant. However, even though I may get stared at some while swimming, I won't notice it as much in the water unless I swim backstroke, Varindar thought, upon answering the somewhat uncomfortable question [member="Chekīta Awaud"] asked. Which was answered while stretching her legs after their part in the weight training regimen was done. Sure, muscular strength is helpful, but it wasn't the end of the story as a swimmer: technique was the other part of the equation that she knew counted for quite a bit in that sport, and that she could sense that Gand voyeur may not know about. With that said, she would then get to the dressing room since the opening time for the boutiques is almost coming, all things considered.

"True, pretty much anywhere we went and showed skin people would stare, alas one of the problems with being so in shape and thus 'hot' in the eyes of most beings". Even other races that didn't usually get together with humanoid women seemed to still have a thing for them these days. Looking over she checked the time, an hour and a bit having passed, the shops would be open now, a good chance to get a new swim suit and have some fun at the pool, Chekita tapping the hotel owner on the shoulders. "Shops are open, wanna wrap things up hear and head get reedy for swimming? you can head out on your own and meat me there, that is unless you want to pick up something for yourself, choice is yours". Either way she was off in the next minute or so, time was a wasting.

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

"There is really one thing I ought to pick up at the boutique since my old swimming cap is worn down"

The Gand voyeur seemed intrigued by Varindar, and she could feel that Gand could, in fact, use the Force, too. A Findsman, albeit a rather peculiar kind of Findsman. That Gand Findsman seemed to have a thing for humanoid females and, before [member="Chekīta Awaud"] gets access to it, both of them will have their pictures on Teeno Village's fitness and/or fashion magazines. Sure that Gand knew that humanoid females came in wide varieties of shapes, sizes and other physical features, just that maybe, maybe that Findsman would want to learn to swim from her. To him both ladies feel like a dream and this five-star hotel is a paradise, and he was a little late to the swimming boutique. And yet, Varindar would know that swimming caps are there to prevent the user's hair (or other appendages in other species) from being damaged from repeated exposure to chlorine (or bromine) but since she is using it for training, silicon is going to do just fine. However, she has all these other accessories in place for swimming: goggles, two-piece training swimsuit, to name the main ones she knew every champion swimmer would use to train.

"Ahh a swimming cap, never had that problem since mine is quite short", Her hand running through her short mattered brown locks. "Though about growing it out once, but to much effort and causes problems when in combat". Long hair could be grabbed, tangled, and was a pain when wearing a helmet sometimes, then there was all the cosmetic stuff you had to go through in order to keep it in good condition, for her short worked best. She kept behind Varindar as they came to the store, it size being quite interesting, the range was quite intriguing, it would probably take days to fully go through all the different outfits and accessories. "Well they probably have something for me, a something black, many a one piece would do well". As the two parted ways for the time being the Mando searched through the isles of beach outfits, soon coming across an mannequin with an interesting design. A nice form fitting one-piece that still had a sense of suggestibility to it, "now this is what I'm talking about".

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

If Varindar was to guess, this place was one of the largest swimming pro-shops on Corellia, at least outside of the Golden Beaches. It sold one-pieces, two-pieces, swimming goggles, drag suits, ear plugs, and even speed suits of the variety Varindar owned. But part of the selection of merchandise it sold was, in fact, more adapted for other races, such as Selonians, Ithorians, and Esh-Khas, especially in regards to swimming goggles and caps. It may take days to a Polydroxol customer (not that a Polydroxol would want to swim in what amounted to soft water unless they can somehow shapeshift into species that are much more voluminous than normal-sized humans while retaining their mass), but to [member="Chekīta Awaud"] it didn't. But she didn't feel the need to buy more accessories than the swimming cap, since the other accessories weren't worn down enough yet to start looking for replacements, and she knew at what rates her other accessories would wear down. Once she checked out at the cashier, she didn't waste time going to the dressing room and putting that cap on along with her other accessories: goggles and one-piece training suit, so she wouldn't show as much skin as she would have in her other training suit.

"Now, to hit the pool!"

With her new outfit picked out Chekita went through the fitting process, trying it on and making sure the thing was comfortable to wear, even going through a small gymnastic routine to test it flexibility. Her final thoughts, good quality, this place catered to quite the pricey market. Thankfully she had money to splash, Hutts payed a lot of money for good body guards, time to put those pay checks to good use, quickly taking the new swimsuit to the check out. With the items sorted out and time ticking down Varindar said the magic words, "pool time it is, last one in is a nerf herder". With a playful but also evil laugh Chekita with her new swim suit made for the aquatic center with post haste'

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

The only time she had to be away from the Gand's eyes was in the dressing room. But as soon as she hits the deep end of the pool, she knows the Gand is on the sidelines to watch her swimming, and get a feel of what it means to swim, as fast as was feasible in this pool that clearly wasn't designed for holding hippodrome meets in. Yes, it was designed to feel like a hot spring on Belsavis, with potted flora found in the Antediluvian Jungle on that planet lining the deck, and the water temperature matched it. And yet here it was, Varindar swimming as fast as was feasible in a pool that seemed to be more decorative than having any actual training value. Surely [member="Chekīta Awaud"] would get to see, along with the Gand on the other side of the pool, the hotelier swimming crawl at a speed that would bewilder Gands or a few more non-aquatic species among the pool guests. And yet, she knew that Gand would watch both of them, and not just Varindar. She could also feel that, if seeing Varindar on a rowing machine was making him ecstatic, it was nothing compared to swimming.

The pool already seemed to have a decent crowd making the most of it's liquid assets, Chekita watching on as Varindar didn't waste time getting in and showing her talents in the water. Could put some powered forms of aquatic transportation to shame with that speed, definitely got the attention of some other patrons. Wasting no time herself Chekita slipped into her new outfit, going for a more thuggish approach to the water, lunching into it with a cannon ball. Different stroke for different folks, the muscular women relaxing and floating down the pool for a few moments before turning to her new friend. "So, Vary, how long you been a swimmer for? certainly look like a pro with the get up and speed". She knew a little bit about the women's time as a slave from yesterday but still had not gotten the full specifics of her backstory.

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

"Everything began on Dathomir as a teenage girl, but somehow, on Dathomir, the highest levels of the sport were closely tied to the underworld before I became a slave"

Varindar had memories of some of her very earliest teammates getting arrested for smuggling and moneylaundering, and usually having several years on her. [member="Chekīta Awaud"] was genuinely curious about how Varindar even started swimming, and how long she played the sport. And yet she knew the Gand also listened on the answers. But, while bewildered by her swimming speed, most of these guests only looked at the hotelier for a few seconds before going on their merry way: it seemed they were at the pool for other reasons. She was still new to Corellia so she would have no clue as to the swimming landscape on this planet other than the Golden Beaches being where the main open-water action took place. Maybe if I entered some hippodrome meet - away from Coronet City if required... she thought.

"Oh? your a Dathomir gal? interesting, though I'd have to wonder why sports there is linked to the underworld, doesn't make a whole lot of sense if you get my meaning". Some sports she could see being apart of the underworld, but one as simple as swimming? That just seemed a little strange for Chekita, like what need did one have to make such a sport apart of the criminal world? Nothing about swimming seemed illegal in the slightest, more so if it was done in private, only aspect that would be questionable is the use of slaves for competitors. "Well I guess i can happen, if there is money to be made criminals will take advantage of it one way or another, was it a profitable buiness? like did they reap a huge stack of cash for this illegal swimming competitions"?

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

"I knew that some people would hide drugs inside the swimsuits or caps, especially those who had the skill to enter off-world meets. Also most teams preferred to wait until an athlete reached a certain level to allow them to enter off-world meets. Hence the underworld being involved at the highest level, and not so much at lower levels, but to a lesser extent, wagering on meets was a convenient means for them to launder money"

Gambling was legal on Dathomir to the extent she knew about it. But there was not just the Gand, or [member="Chekīta Awaud"] being interested in how the sport was somehow associated with the underworld on another planet where competitive swimming was more of a thing than it apparently was on Corellia. No one outside of Trandosha or Dathomir would have suspected as much. Not even on Nar Shaddaa, to say nothing of other worlds she swam on: Scarif, Baroonda, Ceraluen, Manaan. She could hear the gasps of horror from a few pool guests around even though she knew how the Dathomirian underworld used swimming as a vehicle for crime better than they did. And the Gand finally left the pool after hearing about underworld used swimming, not wanting to be associated with underworld figures. Even with all these fresh pictures of both women, he seemingly lost all willingness to get to know more about them after getting an earful about crime. Better than nothing I suppose, but not the most optimal way to chase off an undesirable paparazzo, she thought.

"So they used the swimmer to smuggle illegal goods and use them for other things, must say certainly interesting, I'd never expect such a thing, perhaps the criminals had a good idea". The typical hiding in plain sight tactic, one that many knew about but it was very hard to properly find. "Money laundering, hmmm nothing really new there, to be honest most business do that, but I could see why using slaves would make it more illegal then it already was". Though once again it was probably not something to be expected with swimming, outside of certain planets with more natural water formations swimming and professional races were rare, it was not hard to see such an operation going un-noticed easily. Who knew, if her work had moved away from the core and galactic east she may have very well ended up as a body guard for a owner of such an enterprise, Varindar seemed to elude to it's profitability. Considering her physical attributes joining in and making a little side money could have been a viable option too, shame they'd just dealt with a majority of said leader the other day.

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

"My first hotel used to be some hub in Silver space for three underworld groups that were traditional allies of the previous owners: the Dathomirians, the Selkath and the Rishii, which, between them, owned more than 90% of the loyalty cards before I ran it, and therefore accounted for a pretty big chunk of the actual stays"

If the Dathomirians were relatively minor players in the galactic "underground" swimming scene, on the other hand, criminal use of swimming meets and, with it, athletes, was a big chunk of life among the underworld on Manaan or Rishi. In fact, she doesn't feel much, if anything, towards the Selkath and the Rishii as it relates to the underworld, at least not as strongly as she feels towards the Crown Nebula's previous owners, the Ta'jar Blood Gang. [member="Chekīta Awaud"] would also have come to realize that the Dathomirians were also virtually non-factors in the galactic underworld. Yet the other guests around these two ladies were puzzled to hear about who even stayed at the Crown Nebula on Trandosha before she even ran it. The Ta'jars had a draconian cancellation policy in place, in that any reservation cancelled within 30 days of the stay would be non-refundable, and even if one cancelled before the 30-day deadline, the first night would be the cancellation fee. But even many of the legitimate guests that stayed there, were still associated with these underworld figures.

Chekita didn't really understand what Varindar said, but she got the gist, lotta money lotta people, big game and all that pazaz that a well organised operation had to make the profit. "I'd commend you on knowing so much about your former owners, but then I member you did set up this whole operations, shouldn't be surprised you know the ins and outs of the people you once 'worked' for". Made even more sense if the other rumors about her anti slaver operations were true, certainly had a large track record, made Chekita feel like she was apart of some huge movement. "Perhaps you should write a holo novel or book about your dealings, would certainly be something new against the mountains of war stories around". May even make for a good laugh depending on how it was done and who the reader was.
