† OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION †

† PRODUCTION INFORMATION †

† SPECIAL FEATURES †

† STRENGTHS †
  • Sub-Hyperspace Mastery: Built exclusively to be one of the fastest FTL hyperdrives possible, the Penumbral Hyperdrive is hyper-focused on optimizing for sub-hyperspace travel. Leveraging the ability to travel through the galaxy's space-time continuum, the hyperdrive is capable of reaching incredible hyperspeeds compared to traditional hyperdrives. Cryogenic cells and phantom energy containment units are parallelly filled by sub-hyperspace travel which allow the hyperdrive to initiate any number of 'micro-jumps', short momentary phases into and out of sub-hyperspace. The rifts in sub-hyperspace travel are eliminated by an anti-ion emission tracer, which prevents sensors from tracing the starship's sub-hypertravel path.

  • Endless Power: Equipped with phantom energy collectors, excess phantom energy -- whether from the dark matter reactor or the surrounding area in sub-hyperspace -- is automatically stored and reserved for the starship's power systems. The entire power system is built to efficiently process energy for minimal losses and maximal power gains.

  • Lethal Overclocking: The Penumbral Hyperdrive can be modified slightly, allowing the hyperdrive to be overclocked beyond its safe, operating parameters. By flooding the reactor core of the hyperdrive with excess phantom energy during the quintessence-phantom energy transformation process, a far larger explosion of energy can be created, catapulting the starship at incredible speeds in sub-hyperspace travel. The process can be serialized during sub-hyperspace travel itself, maintaining a maximal speeds throughout the journey.

† WEAKNESSES †
  • Underworld Pact: Due to the highly sensitive and volatile nature of quintessence dark matter utilized by the system, even the slightest amount of damage to the Penumbral Hyperdrive will result in catastrophic failure, creating a vast explosion that will sunder realspace and leave a gash into sub-hyperspace. The unlikely starship wielding the Penumbral Hyperdrive will be torn apart, broken in pieces scattered across realspace and in unfathomable gaps of sub-hyperspace.

  • Critical System Failures: Due to its enigmatic design and complex technical structure, maintaining and repairing the hyperdrive is near impossible. Thus, any faults in the system can at best be patchworked to not cause imminent explosion. Instead, any repairs must be brought back to a dedicated Banshee Tech shipyard with a specialized Zuguruk hyperdrive technician.

  • Tapping Chaos Incarnate: When 'overclocking' the Penumbral Hyperdrive , a vast amount of instability is introduced to the system, stressing the Impervium reactor core heavily. The limits of the reactor core are constantly tested when 'overclocked' and the probability of critical failure drastically increases.

  • Sinister Design: Light Side Force Abilities inflict damage onto the engine itself, as its overall hull and frame were reinforced with Sith Alchemy.

† DESCRIPTION †
The tradition of building Sith starships started with the Zuguruk Caste: once great builders of the ancient tombs of the Sith, they were repurposed as the focus of the Sith shifted toward external force projection, taking the same engineering prowess and greatness to building vast battleships. The First Sith Empire, commandeered by Dark Jedi who fled during the First Great Schism, overpowered the Sith and as its conquerors redirected the Zuguruk Caste under the Sorzus Syn, leading to the creation of new technical schematics that bypassed the ancient Sith rituals and magic that were once integral to Sith society. The melting point of a rapid introduction to greater technologies and ancient Sith alchemy constructed wonderous creations that surpassed all others in form and mettle.

At the bleeding edge of the Zuguruk was a great engineer and pioneer, a Force Sensitive that remained too ill-equipped to be considered part of the Kissai yet with enough workings with Sith alchemy and magic to construct the first device to breach into sub-hyperspace. Unfortunately, the experiment led to the widespread destruction of the Zuguruk himself along with an extensive portion of his laboratory. The building was razed and rebuilt, efficiently processing the failure as the past and with the Zuguruk Caste rapidly iterating onto the next set of engineers to build other weapons and starship components for the Sith Empire's military. A scroll detailing the process was lost in the myriad of collected debris, earmarked as trash and disposed of promptly.

The scroll was eventually found by Viktor in the Ashes of Korr, embedded in an ice asteroid harvested in the debris field. Within, Viktor learned of the Zuguruk's great findings, ranging from his experiences working with Sith alchemized alloys to most importantly, the discovery of phantom energy and its near limitless energy potentials. Particularly, the Zuguruk theorized that there was an underlying connection between the Dark side of the Force and phantom energy itself, intrinsically tied to the greater subject of dark matter. While little substantiated these claims other than illogical ramblings of insanity from the Zuguruk, it brought up an interesting point of further leveraging Sith alchemy and magic to be used as auxiliary control mechanisms for sub-hyperspace travel.

This bore fruit to one of the key design components of the Penumbral Hyperdrive: Chromium-Impervium Alloys imbued with Sith magic to constantly cast alter environment to stabilize the chaotic and unpredictable nature of quintessence and phantom energy into a more manageable form. This enabled phantom energy to be channeled more effectively, enabling the Penumbral Hyperdrive to precisely create rifts into sub-hyperspace matching exacting specifications. This greatly enhanced the energy performance of the hyperdrive and limited variability, enabling the hyperdrive to further be stressed with 'overclocking' despite it exceeding normal operating standards for other sub-hyperspace hyperdrives.

The Penumbral Hyperdrive is an iconoclastic FTL option that echoes to the infusion of technology and Sith magic once standard back during the rule of the First Sith Empire.

Another well crafted sub there is only a thing or two

Production: Mass-Produced
Generally speaking the more powerful the submission becomes, the less of them there should be. The production range of a submission with alchemy or nanotechnology ranges between Unique and Minor. Please use the history and other parts of the submission to flesh out its power and potency. A Factory Judge is allowed to ask for more depth, if they believe that the submission needs a little bit more work to it.

As alchemical items are restricted this cannot be mass production

Quiet Presence: The Penumbral Hyperdrive is partially constructed of a Chromium-Impervium alloy and is coated with sensor dampening Nightshadow, providing a mild amount of stealth to the starship component.
And the presence of this using something for stealth and anti-sensors limits its production even more. Per factory rules

Particularly rare or powerful special features will necessitate using a lower level of production, such as stealth or anti stealth technologies (for example: cloaking technology, personal cloaking devices, gemcutters, crystal grav traps, moon dust), or rare canon technologies (for example: Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainers, etc) and their equivalents will only be permitted at Semi-Unique production.

If you removed all mentions of stealth and nightshadow this could go to minor production.
