Description: The Omega Light Mortar-1 was designed to allow a group of three soldiers to carry basically a 81mm artillery piece for a extended period of time and support infantry. In all aspects, the OLM-1 is a simple design, a 131 centimeter long tube, a bipod with and mounting unit, the sight that attaches to the side of the tube and bipod and a baseplate with a firing pin at the bottom. The tube is simply just a tube that guides the mortar shell, kind of like the barrel of a blaster or a slugthrower. The bipod is just as simple as a bipod you'd attach to a sniper or a repeater, though it a bit more intricate, the bipod connects to the sight, which can allow the crew to traverse and elevate the mortar. The baseplate acts as both a stabilizer for the tube and holds a firing pin at the bottom to ignite the mortar shells propellant. The OLM-1 is small enough to be lugged around by three people, the gunner carries the tube and is in charge of making sure the tube is stabilized, the aimer carries the bipod and the aimer and is in charge of traversing and elevating the mortar and the loader is in charge of carrying the mortar shells and loading them into the tube when the mortar is set up.
Strengths:
- Long Range
- Massive Stopping Power
Weaknesses:
- Designed to send out inaccurate covering fire
- Slow Rate of Fire
