Private Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

"True," Amani admitted with faux-smugness, fluttering her eyelashes, "But Vera's still my favorite." None were as close to her as Vera, and none as invested in the wedding as Vera either. "We're hoping to get things started sooner rather than later, so trust me, we're in the same boat."

Val's thoughts on Coruscant rang true for them both, to which Amani nodded, "We've done a lot to make it our own little cozy space. It goes a long way. And while it can't beat a more natural view, there is a sense of beauty to the city itself," The upper city, at least. The views were certainly less grandiose the further down you went.

The conversation soon circled back to Vera, who thankfully, had begun to expand her social circle since moving, "That's great. Those connections will go a long way," The idea of her never really finding people her own age to socialize with was heartbreaking, but hardly a concern. Vera was finding her groove now that they're more settled in, even if part of that meant keeping her birthday party a bit exclusive, "Can't just let anyone in, right?" Amani chuckled, "Any tips for gift shopping? I'd like to get her something if possible."

Valery rolled her eyes when Amani fluttered her eyelashes but she was happy to hear that Vera was a favorite. Of course, as an overprotective and caring mother, it was unthinkable that it wouldn't be the case, but it was nice to hear anyways, and Vera os especially going to love that people who care about her will be showing up.

Back on the topic of Vera's friends, Valery nodded in agreement, "Oh yeah and I think once she's surrounded by more people her own age, it'll be easy enough for her to make more friends." One of the benefits of being a very energetic and excited kid — she could get along with almost anybody.

"Any tips for gift shopping? I'd like to get her something if possible."

Valery blinked at the question, as it hadn't really crossed her mind yet, and offered a warm smile, "Awe, that's very kind of you. She obviously loves plushies and will fight for them, as you've seen yourself..." Valery began with a grin. "But simple drawing tools will make her really happy too. Maybe an Amani Serys action figure if they have those. She's one of her favorite Jedi," Valery joked, her grin widening.

At this point, Valery had somehow managed to eat the abnormal quantity of food she had ordered and sat back to relax a little. She was starting to get used to the cold, so with that no longer bothering her, it was a lot easier to enjoy the beauty of where they were. Both the planet itself and this little town.

"What do people here do in their free time? Any activities or do they all gather to have drinks somewhere?"

"She'll be the popular kid in no time," Amani chuckled. Vera was sociable, and if their babysitting ventures were any indication, certainly had the energy to put herself out there. Forging some lasting friendships would come naturally.

All of Val's gift suggestions were more or less the kind of thing she had expected, but it was good to get confirmation on some ideas. The last one, however, received a snort, "Yeah, right," She paused, then peered at Valery a little more suspiciously, "…They don't actually have those, do they?" Amani wasn't sure whether to be flattered or weirded out by the possibility, "Next thing you knew, they'll be painting pinups of Jedi on Alliance ships…"

Amani and Val soon finished up the buffet they had assembled, and the mirialan leaned back in her seat, feeling warmed (and also a bit bloated) by the meal, "Gooood stuff," She hummed. Valery's question made her blink, "Well, there is a tavern of sorts nearby, I believe. Communal festivals are relatively common. In places like this people will find just about any excuse to celebrate. Food, song and dance, theater," Amani looked around at the passersby, "…Seems like we came on a quiet day thou-"

<Everyone!> A familiar voice called out in tandem with a pair of claps, earning the attention of all who heard. Mebita popped out of her hut, and waited a moment before continuing, <Beti Serys is getting married!> She gestured to where the two Jedi were seated, and everyone cheered, <To royalty!> The cheering grew more intense.

Amani shrugged, "Or not," That was enough to get people to drop what they were doing and celebrate. Like the entire town had switched gears, people were moving and getting out decorations, working with surprising efficiency. Several passed by with well wishes, and at some point, a wreath of arctic flowers was draped around Amani's neck. "Does that answer your question?" She laughed.

"I wouldn't be too surprised if they existed. I've seen... things," Valery said with a smirk that turned into a more sheepish smile at the mention of pin-ups. Best to not give her best friend that kind of ammunition right now — as friendly and caring as they were towards each other, they'd also jump at the chance to tease. Besides, it wasn't like Valery had agreed to be painted onto the nose of a squadron of Y-wings.

So like Amani, Valery sat back and relaxed a little, placing her hands over her stomach now that she felt quite full. The food had been great, so maybe she had eaten a little too much. "A tavern, hm? Grabbing drinks and dancing a little could be fun. Last time before the wedding has to be special~" Valery looked at her with a devilish grin, and it only widened when a familiar voice called out to everybody around them.

"Yessss, she's right here!" Valery called out after Mebita was drawing all the attention to Amani. Valery shot her friend a teasing smirk and shifted away a little so people could come over to congratulate her. They all immediately began to decorate as well, offered flowers, and music was soon being played throughout the town.

"Well, don't think you're going to need to worry about flowers for the wedding anymore," Valery chuckled before she got up to her feet and offered Amani a hand so she could be pulled up to her feet as well. "Come on, let's get moving a little. Practice for the big day."

While they got ready, Valery managed to grab two glasses of... she had honestly no idea, but it was alcoholic, and she wasn't going to be filtering it from her blood today. It could result in her ending up dancing on top of a table again, but she was going to embrace that tonight.

Amani shook her head. The idea of owning an action figure modeled after a real life person was a peculiar one, but Jedi did have a certain flair that many other people did not, "Well, I'll think of something to get her. Probably not a smaller version of me. She already gets to hang out with the real deal," Also, gifting someone a toy based on herself seemed monumentally narcissistic.

"It does?" Amani asked, not seeing the significance of either. Neither drinking nor dancing were particular hobbies of hers. Not that she couldn't enjoy herself with them, but they were rarely her first choice of entertainment.

Not that it stopped the rest of the village from starting an impromptu celebration.

Amani resigned herself to her fifteen minutes of fame, and took Valery's hand to stand back up. At least here she felt a little more at home, making it easier to go along with the festivities, "Alright, alright," She took one of the drinks, and gave it a whiff. It was opaque, and had a strong, fermented ethanol odor. Definitely alcohol. Amani steeled herself, and took a swig, which was about as unappealing as the smell. She grimaced through it, and laughed.

"I can just see how much you love it," Valery said with a big grin after she watched Amani take a sip. But, of course, then it was her own turn, and her response wasn't that much better — she coughed once and felt her throat burning, but that wasn't going to stop Valery from lifting the drink to down the entire glass in one swing. "Oh man..." she blinked and shook her head as she tried to recover from it, and turned to one of the Mirialans.

"How strong is this?" she called out over the loud music.

"About 45 percent!" the woman called back, but because of the loud music, Valery could barely hear her.

"Ah, it's only like 4 percent," Valery told Amani, having picked up on just the first bit. "Tastes stronger, though... oh well." She shrugged her shoulders and accepted that she probably just knew very little about strong liquor. So, believing that it wasn't all that bad, Valery took another glass and went through it rather quickly. "You get used to it pretty fast!" She called out to Amani after swallowing it down.

But slowly, it was starting to kick in.

"Hey..." she muttered, "Come on, let's dance some." Without another word, she climbed on top of a table and extended her hand for Amani to take. "Not getting out of this one~"

“It’s… something,” Amani sputtered. Valery couldn’t down it much better, which made her snort, “Right?”

She could barely register the conversation Val was having with the person who brought out the drinks, so she took the given percentage at face value, “Really?” She looked at her cup curiously, then shrugged, before chugging the rest, “Ehh, not sure that’s a taste I’ll be acquiring any time soon,” Still, in the spirit of celebration, she grabbed another.

Amani was not a heavyweight drinker. So it wasn’t long before that “4%” alcohol had her feeling a bit tipsy. She reacted to Valery’s offered hand as if it were some alien object, “What? No-- Whyy?” She said, even as she accepted it and joined her on the table. Their inebriated dancing went on unimpeded for some time, until eventually a pair of strapping young mirialan men approached their table, offering hands.

<Would the ladies care for a couple partners?>

Amani looked at the man directing his efforts at her, and gave him that same confused, half-drunken look she gave Valery, <...You’re not Alicio,> And with little else, she waved him off to reenter her little bubble, dancing without perception of the people who might be watching.

"No complaining~" she said with a grin as she pulled Amani onto the table to start dancing. Without any shame, Valery began drawing attention with her moves, not just to herself but also to Amani with the occasional hip bump and dancing around her. This was her big day, and even though she was too drunk to really think straight, Valery wanted to put her in the spotlight a little bit. A spotlight she may not want, but one she'd have to accept.

It wouldn't take too long until more than just old ladies picked up on it too — a pair of young Mirialan men appeared, drawing both Valery and Amani's attention by extending their hands. Valery blinked and watched Amani wave one of them off rather quickly, but she had a different plan, "Come on, just dance along..." she said, her words a bit slurred. There was not going to be any weird slow dancing, but there was no need to deny people to party with them.

So after stepping back to make some space for them and others who wanted to join, Valery continued to sway and move along to the rhythm, completely in her own world... until her foot settled on air. With a loud squeal, she fell off the edge of the table and landed on her back in the snow, where she just began to laugh.

Amani grumbled quietly to herself as Val insisted the men join them. It’s not like they just couldn’t dance elsewhere. No matter, she kept just enough space between them, at least as much as one could while on a table, warding off any chance of testing the waters.

While she got lost in her own little bubble, so did Valery, albeit with more disastrous results. The table rattled as a weight dropped off the side, that weight being none other than Valery. Amani craned forward to see the sight, and started chuckling. The chuckling then pitched up into giggling, and finally culminated in a bout of cackles and snorts. She wobbled a bit, and hiccuped, bringing an abrupt end to her laughter, “Ugh,” Amani groaned, “Gotta… stop dancing…”

Slowly she lowered herself from the table like a toddler descending the stairs, and meandered over to Val, offering a hand, “Up, party lady. On your feet.”

Valery laughed while she was on the ground, then Amani laughed as well, and Valery just began to laugh even louder. It was a feedback loop that didn't end until Amani managed to get off the table to offer a hand. Valery grabbed it and pulled herself up to her feet, but a little too hard, so she bumped into Amani and leaned on her in an attempt to not fall over again.

"Thanks, girly," she said, clearly more drunk than she'd ever been before after how quickly she had down the strong liquor. "You know, I love you... not like love love, but you know?" Valery continued without shame — she clearly was a lightweight as well when it came to alcohol. With an arm wrapped around the Mirialan's shoulders, Valery squeezed and began to shuffle away from the busy table, where people were still dancing together.

"I... don't think it was 4% Amani," she said, suddenly with a very serious tone, as if the realization only hit her just now. "I think I need to lie down before I do something stupid."

Amani wobbled back as Valery leaned onto her, pressing a hand against the table behind her for stability, lest they both fall over again. She wasn't quite as demolished as Val was, but the alcohol had quickly done a number on her as well, "I know," She chuckled confusedly, as if processing what that actually meant in slow motion, "You too, girl."

They split off from the nexus of the party for some space, giving them a chance to collect their bearings. Amani raised a brow, only considering that they hand't quite interpreted the alcohols contents correctly once Valery mentioned it, "Noooo… Probably not, right?" They weren't that lightweight, surely. She patted her friend's shoulder, helping lead her away, "That sounds like a good idea."

The chances of them doing something dumb only went up over time.

"Why would they lie about the alcohol? Who would do something like that?" Valery asked with a big shake of her head. But as terrible as that was, she did feel pretty smooth right now, and without the loud music and crowd being so closely packed around them, she felt pretty good. Of course, whether or not that was going to be the case in the morning as well still remained to be seen, but she was in a good mood right now.

"Where.." hic "...are we staying again?"

She couldn't remember if they had already gotten something arranged, but regardless of where they'd be spending the rest of the night, she knew they'd be having an amazing time for the remainder of the trip here.
