Official Republic Response to the Murder of Senator Darion Blackstaff

Jack Sparrow addressed the press briefing room, filled with reporters both physical and holo, and the battery of cameras arrayed throughout. His face was solemn, and his tone was subdued.

"Good afternoon. I shall endeavor to keep this brief. I have just learned that Darion Blackstaff, senator of Pengal, and Republic Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been murdered in his home. Intelligence suggests it was the work of Sith assassins. My condolences go out to his family and friends."

He paused for a moment before continuing. "Senator Blackstaff's career was dedicated to helping the Republic. A Republic that recently has undergone some trying times. But throughout it all, Darion never wavered in his belief that at it's center, the Republic was worth fighting for. His dedication, his pride, his sense of duty and honor, won't be forgotten. And I vow that we will do everything within our power to seek out and punish those responsible. Thank you."

The Supreme Chancellor stepped away from the podium, to be replaced by Press Secretary Omon Pellideux, a Togruta male with excellent taste in clothing.

"Thank you all for coming; there will be no questions."

Sabine laid back in her chair, and wonder why doesn't that Republic Chancellor [member="Jack Sparrow"] not put a bounty on these sith assassins, at least it would be a bit of fun.
She might even hunt that [member="Darth Ferus"], just to relieve some boredom.
Actually she might do it anyway, just to show him what a real assassin does not look like.

Gray had found himself watching a broadcast from Republic space as he was over seeing things at the newly acquired mine on Bal'demnic. A senator had been assassinated it said, and in his own home of all places. They suspected a Sith assassin, which made sense to him. His own Mandalorian brother and sisters were not the type to do things so subtly like this, plus they were respecting the ceasefire which was perfectly fine with Gray. He didn't like this idea of warfare going on with them, especially when the Republic was scrambling to recover from things. There was no honor or profit to be made in it other than bloodshed. Despite what others thought of his people, Gray always tried to avoid violence unless it was needed. Manadlorians were not about mindless war and violence after all, but about family, honor, and clan. That was what they were suppose to be about, but even he had to admit they were seeming more and more interested in the glory of bloodshed than in the glory of protecting what was most important. No matter what though, it seemed someone was making a move on the Republic and going straight for the senators.

Gray frowned as he mulled over some odd connections in his head. This fellow was a senator and a well known one. This man was one of many faces that represented the Republic and its values. Would this mean other senators were going to be in danger? Would others who were seen as icons of Republic values also be targeted? Would his dear friend and co-worker [member="Lady Kay"] also be in danger? It was not well known why she had left the Republic, but she was still seen by many as a beacon of Republic values. He didn't like where that line of thought was leading and needed to look into some things it seemed. Things were becoming unsettling in the senate and for the Republic once more, not that it ever stopped being so as of late.

"A Dramatic Force-Blessed Myth"
Vulpesen's tail flicked behind him as the hologram of [member="Jack Sparrow"] appeared on his desk, giving the news of the deceased senator. The Republic was his newest place to relax and having a political figure of the group you intend to b a consultant of, was not a good thing. A clawed hand made its way over to press the secretary button on his desk. "Tara, ready my ship. I believe a trip is in order. Also rouse ten of the Royal Guards. Things may or may not get messy."

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay had avoided watching Republic news for a while, and the holonet as a whole until now. As [member="Mantic Dorn"] had pointed out, she had been spending her time punishing herself after she was fired. But she had gotten out of her rut and kept herself busy, helping her brother and his friends with their new government, while attending lessons the Jedi Master's school. She got her satchel back with most of her things inside and gained herself a life debt. And after a recent visit by [member="Darth Ferus"] of which she kept secret, she took it upon herself to hire specialized bodyguards.

Seeing the announcement about [member="Darion Blackstaff"] made her sad. He was a crotchety old man, but she respected him. They saw eye to eye on some things, but not on others.

She felt compelled to go back, to help as she used to. But to confront [member="Jack Sparrow"] again was something that she wasn't yet prepared for. Their last encounter had left them on bad terms. And who knows? She could very well be refused. Afterall, what could she do for them? Either way, she was going to have to tell Mantic that Ferus was still watching her.
