The Serpent's Offering is a crystal of sorts found in the depths of the seas of Dathomir. The crystal has a teal color and can be found among the reefs of the world. Known to be a naturally processed item, passing through some of the more aquatic predators of the Witch World, including sharks and large serpents. The crystal is full of living ichor from the prey of the beast who created it as well as the beast itself.
Naturally occurring, the Offering has a bend that reflects the ocean. When looking at the crystal the colors do seem to swirl in the aquatic tones. When focused on, it is clear that these items have seen the icy depths as well as the swirling storms of the world from which they’re found. This reflects in how they are used when crafted into items.
Witch artisans love these crystals because each has its own story. When placed in an armor piece, they can be used to offer protection against the cold, or lightning/electrical attacks, or allow the wearer to remain in place, stoic and stationary against the onslaught of the tides and waves. If a crystal is put into one piece of armor, all of the other crystals used in the armor must be focused the same way, as they work in a hive mind, or school, as it were and have to retain the same message.
Nightsisters other more aggressive clans have found use for these in weapons. If placed in a spear or sword, or hammer, they can inflict additional shocking or freezing effects on the target, or if so desired, knock an enemy back in a way similar to a Force repulse. The crystal, once used, retains the effect from the artisan and cannot be bent to another direction.
Finding these crystals is difficult. Ones on the bottom are so well lost and guarded by what lurks underneath the waves of Dathomir, it is very rare to find one. And the predators that produce them? Hides hard, teeth sharp. It takes a true act of bravery, or stupidity to harvest one from a living entity. Once one is retrieved, however, only the bravest and most skilled crafts people can truly bend the crystal.
