Lights scattered and flickered along the skyline of the City that never sleeps. It was ripe and rich with so much possibility, and Rorie had found herself a one-way ticket there. Unfortunately for the Lupo, it was a one-way ticket, which meant she needed to find the credits to get her home after the job was done. She had hoped the handler that had given her the task would have given her enough credits, but alas — he seemed to have failed to understand the concept of comfort.

Rorie glanced at her comm device and scanned the messages. Some were in all caps, others were veiled threats; all in all, Nickles was not happy.

"What do you mean, I shouldn't have flown here first class?" She asked the comm device as she read through the messages. It seemed she was supposed to sneak into the cargo hold, save the money, and take a trip home with food. Rorie knew the money she earned for the Syndicate was a ridiculous ask of the Lupo.

She bit into the thick sandwich, meat slipping from the corners — Rorie did her best to make sure none of the premium cuts escaped. Mustard and mayo coated her face as she literally slurped up the roast bantha steak slices into her mouth. Luckily for Nickles, she had done some scouting on the first-class flight. The grab wasn't going to be hard, but she had eyed the perfectly delicious prize.

Rorie squatted, kept eating the sandwich, and opened her cyberdeck. Thankfully, for her skills with Mechu Deru, she really didn't need to use her hands to command the machine. As quickly as her mind thought it, she moved through the images and found the Arkanian 'Princess', the shameful genetic mistake of a great doctor.

As much as she tried to see this as just a job, she felt a hint of empathy for the woman. They both had been deemed a genetic mistake, but at least her life was lavish and full of luxury. Shrugging, Rorie finished the meal and then packed up quickly. She had already scouted the hotel room and found the window for the penthouse the woman was staying at.

Maybe she could kill two birds with one stone, get info on the woman's 'father' and get some fat gems to sell.

Slinging her bag onto her back, Rorie began to walk, the Force anchoring her feet to the wall as she headed carefully down the side of the building. Finding the window, she carefully used the vibroknife to cut a circle large enough for her to leap through.

Through a terrible miscalculation by the Lupo, the knife shattered the window, which was in the bathroom. In a panic, the girl jumped through and snaked her way into the tub to hide behind the shower curtain. Hopefully her fellow genetic experiment didn't hear anything that would cause her to come see what happened.

The Shame of Arkania

The Arkanian lay upon a large plush bed with satin sheets, dressed in a comfortable and modest purple night gown as she stared up at the dark ceiling of the penthouse room she found herself in. Her stay was meant to be short but she found herself remaining longer than expected. Why? She kind of liked the planet she found herself on, the lights and the people from every corner of the galaxy filled her with a sense of wonder she hadn't really seen elsewhere.

But tonight wasn't about that, it was a sleepless night.

She groaned and turned onto her side as she half-buried her face into her pillow, a shining silver eye staring out towards the window and the city lights behind it. Doubts clouded her thoughts, they always did whenever she was thinking of home, of Arkania. It frustrated her when she had nights like these, unable to drift off despite how tired she felt. She turned over again with a humph of annoyance. Nowhere on the bed felt comfortable, nowhere felt right. Maybe she should just stay awake until she passed out from exhaustion?

A drawn sigh escaped her lips and she turned to further distractions as she reached for a small datapad, swiping her finger along the screen as it lit up her face and she scrolled through various articles and clips, anything to take her mind off of Arkania.

Then... A sudden shatter that startled her. She sat up in her bed suddenly and glanced around in shock. It sounded like it came from the bathroom? She paused for a moment in hesitation before she crawled forward and off of the bed, her bare feet patting softly against the marble-lined flooring as she made her way towards the sound of the disturbance.

The penthouse was so very high in the sky, and security was assured, so surely it couldn't be anything bad right? This she had thought as she approached the door to the bathroom as it slid open. The cold breeze of the night air was the first thing to hit her as she stepped in, leaving the light turned off. She didn't need light after all... But for now the inherent infrared vision of her eyes scanned only coldness and her attention was drawn to the shattered window itself.

"Huh...? Did like... A bird fly into it...?" she asked herself as she looked to the ground at the shards of glass, kneeling down to pick one up. Naturally she picked it up by the edge and cut her finger, gasping in shock as a drop of blood seeped down the slender digit. "Ah-!... Are they going to charge me for this...? They wouldn't... Right...? There's no way, I wasn't even in here when it happened..." she continued to mutter as she stood herself up and placed both her hands in front of herself. Steadily did she start to manipulate the Force, direction it to each individual shard of glass and lifting them from the ground and into a loose collection before placing them all in the bowl of the sink.

She had yet to detect any other disturbances in the bathroom as she moved to stand in front of the broken window, her soft ash blonde hair flowing in the breeze as she peered outside, placing a hand against the frame for support. "... Must've been a really big bird... Or maybe someone threw something at the window...?" she sighed in a disheartened fashion, her back to Rorie's hiding spot behind the curtains.
