Lights scattered and flickered along the skyline of the City that never sleeps. It was ripe and rich with so much possibility, and Rorie had found herself a one-way ticket there. Unfortunately for the Lupo, it was a one-way ticket, which meant she needed to find the credits to get her home after the job was done. She had hoped the handler that had given her the task would have given her enough credits, but alas — he seemed to have failed to understand the concept of comfort.

Rorie glanced at her comm device and scanned the messages. Some were in all caps, others were veiled threats; all in all, Nickles was not happy.

"What do you mean, I shouldn't have flown here first class?" She asked the comm device as she read through the messages. It seemed she was supposed to sneak into the cargo hold, save the money, and take a trip home with food. Rorie knew the money she earned for the Syndicate was a ridiculous ask of the Lupo.

She bit into the thick sandwich, meat slipping from the corners — Rorie did her best to make sure none of the premium cuts escaped. Mustard and mayo coated her face as she literally slurped up the roast bantha steak slices into her mouth. Luckily for Nickles, she had done some scouting on the first-class flight. The grab wasn't going to be hard, but she had eyed the perfectly delicious prize.

Rorie squatted, kept eating the sandwich, and opened her cyberdeck. Thankfully, for her skills with Mechu Deru, she really didn't need to use her hands to command the machine. As quickly as her mind thought it, she moved through the images and found the Arkanian 'Princess', the shameful genetic mistake of a great doctor.

As much as she tried to see this as just a job, she felt a hint of empathy for the woman. They both had been deemed a genetic mistake, but at least her life was lavish and full of luxury. Shrugging, Rorie finished the meal and then packed up quickly. She had already scouted the hotel room and found the window for the penthouse the woman was staying at.

Maybe she could kill two birds with one stone, get info on the woman's 'father' and get some fat gems to sell.

Slinging her bag onto her back, Rorie began to walk, the Force anchoring her feet to the wall as she headed carefully down the side of the building. Finding the window, she carefully used the vibroknife to cut a circle large enough for her to leap through.

Through a terrible miscalculation by the Lupo, the knife shattered the window, which was in the bathroom. In a panic, the girl jumped through and snaked her way into the tub to hide behind the shower curtain. Hopefully her fellow genetic experiment didn't hear anything that would cause her to come see what happened.

The Arkanian lay upon a large plush bed with satin sheets, dressed in a comfortable and modest purple night gown as she stared up at the dark ceiling of the penthouse room she found herself in. Her stay was meant to be short but she found herself remaining longer than expected. Why? She kind of liked the planet she found herself on, the lights and the people from every corner of the galaxy filled her with a sense of wonder she hadn't really seen elsewhere.

But tonight wasn't about that, it was a sleepless night.

She groaned and turned onto her side as she half-buried her face into her pillow, a shining silver eye staring out towards the window and the city lights behind it. Doubts clouded her thoughts, they always did whenever she was thinking of home, of Arkania. It frustrated her when she had nights like these, unable to drift off despite how tired she felt. She turned over again with a humph of annoyance. Nowhere on the bed felt comfortable, nowhere felt right. Maybe she should just stay awake until she passed out from exhaustion?

A drawn sigh escaped her lips and she turned to further distractions as she reached for a small datapad, swiping her finger along the screen as it lit up her face and she scrolled through various articles and clips, anything to take her mind off of Arkania.

Then... A sudden shatter that startled her. She sat up in her bed suddenly and glanced around in shock. It sounded like it came from the bathroom? She paused for a moment in hesitation before she crawled forward and off of the bed, her bare feet patting softly against the marble-lined flooring as she made her way towards the sound of the disturbance.

The penthouse was so very high in the sky, and security was assured, so surely it couldn't be anything bad right? This she had thought as she approached the door to the bathroom as it slid open. The cold breeze of the night air was the first thing to hit her as she stepped in, leaving the light turned off. She didn't need light after all... But for now the inherent infrared vision of her eyes scanned only coldness and her attention was drawn to the shattered window itself.

"Huh...? Did like... A bird fly into it...?" she asked herself as she looked to the ground at the shards of glass, kneeling down to pick one up. Naturally she picked it up by the edge and cut her finger, gasping in shock as a drop of blood seeped down the slender digit. "Ah-!... Are they going to charge me for this...? They wouldn't... Right...? There's no way, I wasn't even in here when it happened..." she continued to mutter as she stood herself up and placed both her hands in front of herself. Steadily did she start to manipulate the Force, direction it to each individual shard of glass and lifting them from the ground and into a loose collection before placing them all in the bowl of the sink.

She had yet to detect any other disturbances in the bathroom as she moved to stand in front of the broken window, her soft ash blonde hair flowing in the breeze as she peered outside, placing a hand against the frame for support. "... Must've been a really big bird... Or maybe someone threw something at the window...?" she sighed in a disheartened fashion, her back to Rorie's hiding spot behind the curtains.

There was no time for Rorie to escape. She should have stayed out of the window, waited for the woman she was talking to to come check it out, and then crawled in. But no, she was full of panic and decided to just go for it. Now she sat in the tub, listening to a woman mutter to herself and—

It was there; the scent of iron filled the Lupo's nose. This was what she was created for, to smell blood and go into a controlled frenzy. Whoever was commanding her would have the recall words, the ones that she was supposed to memorize and react to without any question.

But unlike the labs, no one was here to give the recall command, no one to tell her what to do. She was just here, with a poor woman who had no clue what was happening and who was probably going to get ripped to shreds.

Rorie pinched her nose as her senses began to heighten, her pupils dilating and opening up her sight. She felt everything, could smell everything — all she wanted to do was to have more of the blood, to satiate the hunter's need.

She kept her nose pinched, but she looked out from behind the curtain. All she saw, all she witnessed, was something round and soft. Instinct told her it was food, a large cut of tip-yip just wiggling around in front of her, teasing her. Rorie felt her mouth salivating as she thought about the different ways the tip-yip could be prepared and all the explosive flavors associated with it.

It had been so long since she had something fresh like that — eight months since she had escaped the lab. Currently, she only got things when she was on the job — other than that, it was just basic, hard, nutrabars. No, this time she would have something succulent.

Rorie paused; something dripped down the side of her chin and over her lip. She blinked. The logic of where she was and what she was supposed to do started to kick in.

"Oh fuck," she cursed as she stood up in the tub, and not only was she drooling, but the excitement and the heat from the oncoming bloodlust had caused her to have a nosebleed. It was something that had only happened a few times before, but the smell of her own blood often overrode the need for the lust.

Looking at the woman's back, she reached over and tapped her gently on the closest part of her.

Tap. Tap.

"Can I have some tissue?"

The Arkanian was just about to decide that the breaking of her window was some kind of freak accident before she felt something prod at her soft rear. The contact startled her with a yelp as she quickly spun around, almost falling out the broken window if she hadn't had a hand against the frame. "A pervert!" she exclaimed as she pointed an accusatory finger towards the stranger in her bathroom, an accusation that was made immediately as she jumped to several conclusions.

It was then that she heard the request for a tissue and her brow furrowed in confusion. If someone had ill intent would they ask for something so simple? "...Huh...?" replied Shurufi as she began re-evaluating the redheaded woman in front of her. "... You want a tissue...?" she asked again before noting her bloodied nose, and then she glanced back at the window, she was starting to piece things together...

The Arkanian slowly reached for some paper towels and held the whole roll out towards Rorie, but she pulled it back just as the Lupo would make to accept it. "You... You broke my window didn't you...?" she asked, "And your bloodied nose... You..." she thought long and hard about what could've happened... "You were doing recreational gliding and crashed into my window, didn't you?" she surmised before extending the roll of paper towels once again. Truly she had a knack for discerning these kinds of scenes, able to piece everything together as if she were reconstructing it within her very mind...! She seemed smug about her deduction. "Well, whatever you were using to glide on probably fell, but how are you going to pay for these damages? They'll charge me otherwise, you know?"

Rorie blinked as the woman finally noticed her. The exclamation, the accusation, all of it fell blankly on the girl standing in the tub with a bloody nose. She blinked a few times, trying to search her memory for the word pervert. There was an understanding of perversion, but Rorie was trying to formulate why that would be the cause of the exclamation.

A hand rested gently on the side of her face as she furrowed her brow in thought.

Maybe it was because she was in a tub and not bathing? Or maybe it was how she came into the room. Still, the woman was right.

"Thank you." Rorie smiled.

Then the woman turned and grabbed the tissue. Rorie was relieved as she felt the blood from her nose begin to crust around her nostrils. Her nose was already sensitive, so the crust would only hurt more later if she left it for too long.

Reaching out, Rorie felt the delicate fabric barely touch her fingertips before the woman took it back. The Lupo's jaw dropped; why would this woman tease her? She looked at her and listened to the accusations; the woman was writing an alibi for the intruder. Rorie nodded along, accepting the story as it was spun out for her. IF this was all an accident, then there were no problems.

She wouldn't get caught; the Shens would remain unaware, which meant the boss would keep liking her.

"Yeah, I'm really sorry about that. It was my first time, and you know how these buildings get — always in the way." She pouted, her ears now lying back into her head as she tried to look as pathetic as possible.

Including a little whine in the back of her throat.

Hopefully this would appeal to the rich woman's pity. Who was now accusing her and asking her how she was going to pay.

"Um, I'm sure the hotel would be fine with it? You have a lot of money, no? Especially staying in a place like this." Rorie gestured a little to the nice bathroom. The woman extended the toilet paper again, and Rorie took her chance to grab at it.

"In any case, wouldn't you be liable? What if I broke my arm or something? This is your bathroom, in your hotel room?"

Yeah, that will get her.

Shurufi furrowed her brow at Rorie as her cheeks puffed out briefly in annoyance with a humph, "Do you have any idea how much these windows, especially for this room, cost? Because I don't...! And you don't seem like you do either!" she exclaimed in return before she made her way back into the main room, "Maybe I saved up for this room, hm? You don't know how much money I do or don't have, besides, that's not the point either, if they think I did it they might not let me back here, so..." she turned on her heel, assuming Rorie had followed her, and pointed another accusatory finger at her.

"You have to take responsibility for it, okay? If you can't afford the charge I'll cover it, but it's not my fault, got it?" she stated firmly. The room they were now in was finely decorated, as perhaps expected of the penthouse suite in such a building. The room itself was in two tiers, the lower being a lounge area with comfortable seating, even a crackling fireplace, and up the short flight of steps was the bedroom with a very large and luxurious bed, four posts and all. Against the wall were large seamless windows that displayed the night city in all its lights and glory.

Shurufi crossed her arms under her sizable chest and tilted her head at Rorie. "Also is your nose the only thing you hit? I'd expect you to have like, way more injuries for crashing through a window..." she asked before she glanced around the room and started making her ways towards a comm device on the wall. "Either way I guess I better call someone. What's your name?" she asked as she neared the device on the wall, still entirely oblivious to the true intents of the redheaded woman.
